In 2008, both Outside Lands and Lollapalooza shared a Radiohead headliner. And Coachella, Outside Lands, and Bonaroo all shared a Jack Johnson headliner. So obviously festivals don't rival each other for headliners.
You could argue JJ wasn't a "big headliner", (although he was), but what can you say about Radiohead? San Francisco and Chicago are just as far as Indio and Manchester, TN.
No worries , just be happy with the essential lineup , i know its exciting to want to know who will be added , but , it will all come soon , from the original source . This blog is bull shit , i don't even know why i check here every day , maybe cuz its amusing ?!
you guys all jumped to conclusions by thinking that big news is an artist being added. for all you know they could have the pussy cat dolls giving a blow job to every ticketed entry. "excitement" could be anything.
No one knows shit. This is just a blog. All over the internet people speculate, there is nothing illegal about that. To all the people who "know" something. Post it as anon, whos going to tattle on you, seriously?
Off the wall choice, The Dead. I'm a god damn genius now aren't I?
I always find it funny when people claim to know people at Goldenvoice as their source of info. Realistically, 6 or 7 employees at GV/AEG are enough in the know to leak lineup information.
Of those, all but one (perhaps two if they were drunk enough) would reveal information. The sober one is a personal friend of mine, so unless you're all getting a rather conservative individual drunk on a regular basis, I begin to doubt the legitimacy of your claims that multiple people from GV post on my blog's comments section.
As for the additions, they are indeed coming. Probably "soon". Not sure how long "soon" we'll be, but the safe estimate is "before April".
For those of you waiting for a new Saturday headliner, get used to seeing the Killers in the headlining spot. It is mildly unlikely that a headliner will actually sign onto Sunday, but that's not to say that they're trying for something exciting.
Take solace in knowing that bands which are signed on like the Murder City Devils are still absent from the poster. Once they have their nice additions packaged, they'll release the info all at once. Hopefully, I'll be able to beat them to the punch. :P
No Bruce No Dr Dre/Eminem No Green Day No Smiths No Depeche Mode No Faith No More (unless they find that to be more secret worthy than the bigger name that they've been suiting)
Basement Jaxx Kings of Leon Coldplay U2 The Decemberists Bon Iver Nine Inch Nails M83 Grizzly Bear Beastie Boys Paul Oakenfold Kaiser Chiefs White Stripes
to possibly be added.
And then the long shots: Chemical Brothers, Phish, David Byrne
So there should be at least one from the list above.
So they are putting a big name on a day OTHER than Saturday. Monklish, one who is all so wise, what fucking sense does this make. Friday has Macca, Sunday has The Cure... and your trying to tell me there is no way The Killers spot is going to be taken.
If there is any big add (which I highly doubt) it will be on Saturday. This is not speculation, it is fact. I don't care HOW connected you may or may not be, that's where a add is needed and that's where it would go.
well...last year was the 1st time they ever bumped a headliner and announced a headliner 2 weeks before the festival..so anything is possible this year...if the act is big enough they will just pay whatever headliner they are bumping a fee and move them...that being said...the only acts I can see being big enough to bump are Bowie, Radiohead, Daft (all debunked), U2 and perhaps Micheal Jackson.
That's the thing though. Price bumped, he didn't bump/move. There is a lot involved with moving the big players around. Sure, we've seen midcard players get shifted here or there but never has a big act been moved to a different day (at least not in recent years).
just put it simple monklish , stop with all the he said she said crap already , give us your best.....and if your wrong , we wont hold you to it , okay ?
Hrmm.. For Goldenvoice to add a headliner above The Cure would alienate a great deal of the public buying tickets to see that band. The Cure are known for 3 hour sets, and for them not to close out the main stage, and be relegated to a 75 minute set would probably be a colossal mistake. Of course, people who buy tickets to see just ONE band are making a mistake to begin with.
I'm just perplexed..
The public reaction seems to be that Saturday is the most lackluster. Perhaps the idea here is to overload Friday and Sunday so people say fuckit, and just lock-in for all three?
From a programming standpoint, this year is turning out to just be BIZARRE.
come on people...if the big act (U2) get added and play Sunday...The Cure will simply be moved to Saturday..The Killers can still get their 90 minute set and the Cure can go from 10pm to whenever...it makes perfect sense...the next question is...will U2 follow MBV? How weird would that be?
I agree completely that their plan this year was to stack friday and sunday to sell a 3 day pass. People will just give in and go on Saturday too.
However, to those who think The Cure will switch days, think about the reaction that'd get for a minute. For the people who decide to go one day, chances are the headliner plays a major role in that said day. If they switched The Cure to a different day, they could (and probably would) face alot of backlash for those that have already got tickets and plans to go sunday. Those buyers probably wouldn't be back next year.
That being said, I would love for The Cure to be moved to Saturday. But I just don't think it'd happen.
@Blakely: If you're on the fence, hold off on buying your tickets until an announcement is actually made. Even after the announcement, it probably won't sell out in 24 hours or anything of that sort.
I think if a headliner is added to sunday it will be a Sahara healiner. The Cure deserves the headlining spot much more than a lot of bands that have headlined, including The Killers. Bumping them down would be like pissing over the legacy of a legend. There aren't many bands out there that are in the same league as The Cure, just my 2 cents. Hey monklish, are the Kinky rumours true?
I'm not trying to start fights, but there's a lot of people saying that Friday and Sunday are stacked....well Friday is, but the meat of Saturday is Grade A...TV On the Radio, Tinariwen, Surkin, Para One, MSTRKRFT, Junior Boys, Ida Maria, Hercules & Love Affair, Gang Gang Dance, Fleet Foxes, Electric Touch, Drop the Lime, Dr. Dog, Calexico, Booker T, Blitzen Trapper, Band of Horses, and yes, Amy Winehouse and the Killers...DELICIOUS!!!...Sunday is the worst day (not for headliners)
its a stupid thing to start a rumour that the cure will be change to a diferent day, that will never happen... so people get over that..
im more interest if it is like monklish says that the big adds are for sunday, than we are probably lookin' at a big sahara headliner (since theire a lack of acts for the sahara tent every day), and they wiil be no time in the main stage, since the cure will be playing more than 2 hours.
Dont think that it will be U2, probably Pet Shop Boys, Chemical Brothers... or something like that.
Obviously, if the killers aren't going to be bumped down, as monklish has stated SO MANY TIMES BEFORE, so saturday is locked. the cure aren't moving anywhere so expect a bigger sub headliner. (my personal hope is the White Stripes, but im not holding my breath) David Byrne is also out of the equation as well being that he is booked in europe all three days of coachella. U2 is not playing coachella either. get over them.
Haha, I was just checking to see if the "It's Always Sunny..." live rumor also was on the Monklish blog and what do I see? A PierogiHead imitator (and I'm guessing fake TeamCoachellaHellYeah and NationOcean posts as well?) Wow. How many months have I been mostly dormant from the board and still people are living in the past.
..I promise that I don't check comments on CoS, Monklish, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan and others all day long every day...I just happened to be checking on a rumor..
^^^^ That's cuz Killers are playing a special 4 hour set. They plan on closing each stage throughout the day with special duets including Amy Winehouse! You heard it here first, people!
Saturday is a joke. Having the other two days stronger is not making people attend all three days for the hell of it, it's making them not go at all. Ask around.
yeah , im more excited to see the YYY's sunday than the cure . Coachella definately should close out the weekend stronger than the cure . i like the cure and all , but come on.....10 year ann. , i think GV can do better .
I think it will come next Tuesday or Wednesday. If Chemical Brothers doesn't work out, there will be an equally good act in their place. Hopefully we get both. It's pretty confusing if it's an either or both thing. Nobody's talking about the other act from what I can tell, though.
hey separated friend! how's nor cal? Also !!! was moved sunday of 07 to saturday...and they overlapped with the decemberists. But I believe what my compadre was trying to say is that they don't move the "headliners". Hey Monklish...I know you've been debunking and confirming...what about Fleetwood Mac? Or Basement Jaxx? Someone as big as Chemical Brothers. Fleetwood Mac, Basement Jaxx, Kings of Leon?
The Chemical Brothers on Friday? A day that already has enough acts to fill the Sahara tent for twelve hours while the other two days do not? And a day with the most popular headliner? Terrible.
The Killers are getting a 90 minute set when established bands with full discographies like Bjork, Rage, Tool, and the one and only Portishead show in this country in a decade all got less? The Coachellaheads are smoking some of Indio's best bathtub meth, it sounds like. How long does Sir Paul get, 60 minutes?
In any case, thank you for all the news, Monklish. How are ticket sales this year compared to 2008?
Ok...so to recap: No Bowie, No Depeche Mode, No Smiths, No Faith No More, No U2, No White Stripes, No Radiohead. So basically that means there will not be a Prince type addition this year...because there really are no other big names to add.
If it's gonna be Chem Bros dj set thats very weak...and while EDM has cool setup...does anyone REALLY love the music? I would much rather see Elbow, Royksopp and the Prodigy added. They have good shows and great catalogs.
so Monk , was the U2 rumor the excitement you were talking about when this post started ? but now , it seems to not be true ,.... is there still going to be excitement to line up additions ?
I had a terrible dream last night that it was Oasis....so what do we have here people, we got the cube fellow, chemical brothers. Jose Gonzales is still rumored, as well as a few others over at CoS. Lady Soverign, Yelle and Animal Collective are the only mentionable bands GV is promoting up until Coachella. What about... Titus Andronicus The Tallest Man on Earth The Dodos Beach House Andrew Bird The Shins Ponytail Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles Yeasayer Outkast The Felice Brothers Frightened Rabbit Sorry, I was just spitballing any bands that would be awesome to be added to sunday, i don't know of their tour dates or anything. We're running out of ideas here Monklish. If any of these bands are on the fence you could just name em, or drop a hint, if none just say none. Or I can wait till Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks again.
Pink Floyd would be sweet , it would be a reunion , and exciting , and a great way to close out the weekend , and a nice follow up to Roger Waters last year . hhhhmmmmm
Only the Avalanches, Boards of Canada, or Pavement could make up for the lack of greatness this year, and of those, the Avalanches seems most likely, maybe Pavement next year.
Pearl Jam and the Chems being added would be dreamy.
PJ has history at the polo club having played there a decade before Coachella. They proved (not having to really) at Lolla and the 'Roo that they kick ass is front of 50k plus people.
The Chems...well, just because they are Coachella history and damnit need to be added forthwith.
At this point, the announcement is going to be made on Coachella.com. Monklish, you may have done well the first time around, but you provided little more then a open forum for everyone else to rant this time around. Oh well, thanks for nothing I guess.
Monklish has NO clue as to who is being added. Period. Proof is in the pudding, kids.
As soon as the information is posted over at the Coachella site, Monklish's code of silence will be broken and he/she/it will blab how they knew all along, yet couldn't give up the information. Predictable twat.
U2? C'mon now, really? I don't think so.
Depeche Mode? No. End of discussion.
Pavement? Next year. GUARANTEED.
The White Stripes? No.
Kings of Leon? No.
No Doubt? No way.
As I said before, The Killers will be CO-HEADLINING Saturday. And the other headliner will be a reunion act.
well, what reunion act? Jane's Addiction? Faith No More? The Smiths? Blur? Roxy Music? Neutral Milk Hotel? Outkast? Pulp? Pink Floyd? I really hope it isn't the Replacements....
As if Saturday didn't need an addition bad enough already, word from the UK Tabloids is that Amy Winehouse was denied a work visa and won't be able to come to the US for Coachella.
Monklish has done a good job, and as much as she is on our side, she can't spill all the beans because she has friends at GV...anyone else personal friends with Monklish? Didn't think so. Kudos to Monklish for loyalty...that must be hard. She did a great job predicting and I bet she knows who Coachella is trying to get. So calm down, we'll know shortly. We know who it's not...and without monklish, we wouldn't be able to debunk anything.
yes , Monk has done good on predictions . Hints here and there never hurt though , i must admit , this year has been exciting , and Coachella isnt even here yet !
You won't know who's being added to this year's Coachella until several weeks after the festival is over, probably mid-May. It's a new experiment for GV.
So can we swap Pavement and The Avalanches? Pavement Saturday, Avalanches Sunday...or Chem Bros on Sunday...what about DJ's that have played in the past...like Tiesto?
So no repeats of last year. That still leaves: Interpol Faith No More Pheonix Blur The Avalanches Pavement The Arcade Fire Andrew Bird Bloc Party Cursive Fela Kuti Guns N' Roses? Neko Case The Chemical Brothers Etienne De Crecy Air France The PBA Neil Young?
Guess? Even if you're toying with us...deny or confirm some if you can

@Balaam:
what was the purpose of that???? u have information = u spill it.
screw it. might as well hang out on the coachella myspace for f*%$'s sake.
Lollapalooza shares headliners with Coachella...why don't we all just go to all of them
in 2008, Coach had JJ, Portishead, and Waters as headliners. Lolla had RATM, Radiohead, NIN, and Kanye West as headliners.
umm...
Portishead didn't headline Coachella.
In 2008, both Outside Lands and Lollapalooza shared a Radiohead headliner. And Coachella, Outside Lands, and Bonaroo all shared a Jack Johnson headliner. So obviously festivals don't rival each other for headliners.

I guess that "Coming Soon" title was sarcasm.
^^^^
No, Monklish is just a dick and is messing with our little minds.
No worries , just be happy with the essential lineup , i know its exciting to want to know who will be added , but , it will all come soon , from the original source . This blog is bull shit , i don't even know why i check here every day , maybe cuz its amusing ?!
I know the big adds too, and I'm not going to tell you! falalalalalaaaaaaa
Most of the people on this site already know the adds, so it really isn't that big a deal when you brag about it.
I think most of you will be surprised by the big one..it's an off the wall choice.
Im going to add Green Day to the possibilities list.
you guys all jumped to conclusions by thinking that big news is an artist being added. for all you know they could have the pussy cat dolls giving a blow job to every ticketed entry. "excitement" could be anything.
I would thoroughly enjoy that.
If all of you know the adds, then where are you getting your information?
Well, I know a group of us work for or are affiliated with Golden Voice. As for everyone else who claims they know, beats me.
No one knows shit. This is just a blog. All over the internet people speculate, there is nothing illegal about that. To all the people who "know" something. Post it as anon, whos going to tattle on you, seriously?

No Bruce
No Dr Dre/Eminem
No Green Day
No Smiths
No Depeche Mode
No Faith No More (unless they find that to be more secret worthy than the bigger name that they've been suiting)
You have destroyed me Monklish.
That still leaves:
Basement Jaxx
Kings of Leon
Coldplay
U2
The Decemberists
Bon Iver
Nine Inch Nails
M83
Grizzly Bear
Beastie Boys
Paul Oakenfold
Kaiser Chiefs
White Stripes
to possibly be added.
And then the long shots: Chemical Brothers, Phish, David Byrne
So there should be at least one from the list above.
coachella adds with the song ´blockin beats´ at Leno!! ..chemical brothers add?
FAIL
U2
Basement Jaxx
Etienne de Crecy (yes, the cube dj)
It's Michael Jackson.
No, I really do know. It's true! I really know!
so spit it out then buddy, whats up with the torturous claim?
No Faith No More (unless they find that to be more secret worthy than the bigger name that they've been suiting)
considering all those names you just listed...the only bigger act not on that list that hasn't been debunked (radiohead, bowie, daft)is U2
So they are putting a big name on a day OTHER than Saturday. Monklish, one who is all so wise, what fucking sense does this make. Friday has Macca, Sunday has The Cure... and your trying to tell me there is no way The Killers spot is going to be taken.

Monklish=fail
Who said you couldn't move the Cure to co headline with the Killers on Satuday? It would make sense...
Have they ever done that before? And why would they do it?
well...last year was the 1st time they ever bumped a headliner and announced a headliner 2 weeks before the festival..so anything is possible this year...if the act is big enough they will just pay whatever headliner they are bumping a fee and move them...that being said...the only acts I can see being big enough to bump are Bowie, Radiohead, Daft (all debunked), U2 and perhaps Micheal Jackson.

@Balaam
Off the wall choice eh..
Will Coachella be a thriller? ;)
It's not MJ...
U2 will be announced 3/9/09 along with Murder City Devils, Basement Jaxx, Etienne De Crecy and Sunny In Philadelphia Live. Mark it down.
so its either U2 or MJ?
once again monklish proves she doesn't know shit....why not just who the "big name" is who they've been going after? Oh right, because you don't know.
Monklish, can you please disprove Royksopp or Jamiroquai so that I don't keep hoping for them like a prissy girl.
@Grant: neither.
@anon1141: the majority of this thread seems to know.
@Michael Jackson: enjoy Europe, you would have made Coachella funny this year.
@insider: not quite
@anon944: that's not quite how the Prince situation went down
@anon816: there will either be a new headliner for Sunday or none at all. it's realistically 80/20 as-is/new Sunday headliner, at the moment.
just put it simple monklish , stop with all the he said she said crap already , give us your best.....and if your wrong , we wont hold you to it , okay ?
Can you just tell us if The Chemical Brothers are playing please?!?!?!?
Monk....whats the word on Chemical Brothers???!!!
CHEMICAL BROTHERS!!
CHEMICAL BROTHERS!!!
CHEMICAL BROTHERS!!!!
you told me since the first line up came, that it was strange that they were not on it, and they will be probably added...any new info on that?
i hope its the chemical brothers , as well as others , the crystal method is already playing , it would be awesome if both played this year .
Hrmm.. For Goldenvoice to add a headliner above The Cure would alienate a great deal of the public buying tickets to see that band. Monklish. First off I love you.
and second off. I was gonna wait to buy my tickets for a bit. If the big name you think is going to be added is added, will the festival sell out?
I just want to know If i should be buying my tickets before the announcement
thank you

Well im going for sure, I just wanted to wait for cheap craigs list tix.
And i thought maybe u2 would sell it out.
Who knows
Thank you tho
has bloc party added?? could MIA headline a festival nowadays.. since shes pop status now.. the kinky rumors true? anymore conformed artist?
I think if a headliner is added to sunday it will be a Sahara healiner. The Cure deserves the headlining spot much more than a lot of bands that have headlined, including The Killers. No way in hell is the Saturday main stage going stay TV on the Radio > Amy Winehouse > Killers...that is seriously weak and GV knows it.
personal jeebuses and block rawkin' beatz
oh hey nation...
you son of a bitch!
I'm about to have another meltdown!
Haha, I was just checking to see if the "It's Always Sunny..." live rumor also was on the Monklish blog and what do I see? A PierogiHead imitator (and I'm guessing fake TeamCoachellaHellYeah and NationOcean posts as well?) Wow. How many months have I been mostly dormant from the board and still people are living in the past.
lulz..
meltdown in progress..
..I promise that I don't check comments on CoS, Monklish, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan and others all day long every day...I just happened to be checking on a rumor..
Ahh Nation, you've reared your ugly ugly face again haven't you. You truly need to get a life.
oh noz a fight in the internetz!
wocka wocka!
lulz
Why would anyone do this?!?!?!
lulz meltdown underway
wow.
lulz
lulz
lulz
lulz
lulz no lulz back
How about some Chairlift, Monk?
ok...none of those are me...cept the one saying hi to nation..
ahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaahahaahhahaha!!!!!!!1
compared to other years, the list of artists on saturday is mighty short.
^^^^ That's cuz Killers are playing a special 4 hour set. They plan on closing each stage throughout the day with special duets including Amy Winehouse! You heard it here first, people!
The killers playing a 4 hour set? People will burn the place down to stop the agony.. They are by far the worst headliner coachella has ever had.
Saturday is a joke. Having the other two days stronger is not making people attend all three days for the hell of it, it's making them not go at all. Ask around.
Killers don't even have enough songs for a 4 hour set. That is ridiculous.
P.S. You can't switch bands to other days because people bought single day tickets already.
P.P.S. Someone will headline over The Cure, no doubt. Sunday is the weakest day and needs some firepower.
Does the killers even have enough songs to play a 4 hour set ? not every song of theres is good enough to play live .
yeah , im more excited to see the YYY's sunday than the cure . Coachella definately should close out the weekend stronger than the cure . i like the cure and all , but come on.....10 year ann. , i think GV can do better .
@Mark D's Separated Friend
yeah they can
Does it Offend You, Yeah?
was supposed to play friday then saturday and ended up playing sunday.
Any hip hop adds, Monk? You can just say yes or no.
only if you consider breakbeats to still be a part of hiphop.
the hiphop lineup is stronger in numbers than it's been in the last few years, so i wouldn't expect any adds in that area.
monk that sounds like a plump DJs confirmation.
which is freaking awesome.
anything else you'd like to comment on?
@Joseph Mother: Friday and Saturday have an equal number of acts. Sunday is 5 short of both of them.
@anon517: Saturday is almost selling as well as Friday. Sunday is the least sold day, so far, for single tickets.
The Cure and the Cube probably won't overlap.
so monk, if plump djs and etienne are playing, where does that leave us with the chems? any word?
Killers are booked for a 90 minute set. Not 4 hours.
Brothers gonna work it out.
what day will they work it out?
^^^ in the Sahara
Ettiene De Crecy,The Chems, Plump Djs, Chairlift, and U2?
Friday (no promises, though)
no Chairlift that I know of
no U2 official, now (so much for all that excitement)
thank you monk. lastly, when will these get announced? march 9th? since that seems to be the rumored date
I think it will come next Tuesday or Wednesday. If Chemical Brothers doesn't work out, there will be an equally good act in their place. Hopefully we get both. It's pretty confusing if it's an either or both thing. Nobody's talking about the other act from what I can tell, though.
underworld?
hey separated friend! how's nor cal? Also !!! was moved sunday of 07 to saturday...and they overlapped with the decemberists.
Flaming Lips?
This is so exciting!
No Flaming Lips
No Kings of Leon
No Fleetwood Mac
No Basement Jaxx
No Underworld.
They'd really put chem bros on the same night as crystal method? Doesn't sound right to me.
One would perform a live set. The other would be a DJ-set.
orbtial?
Chemical Brothers DJ? That's cool, there DJ sets always rock
I hope the Chemical brothers dont do a DJ set, I want to hear some true Block Rockin' Beats
Chemical Bros play Sunday. Mark D is greatly missed. Monklish you have devastated me once again.
So basically almost everyone that people are talking about are not going to be there. That is pretty disappointing.
Chemical Bros are pretty cool, I guess, but what about adding some bands?
Hard to believe no Jaxx...
monk whats the ruling on the stripes? you havent debunked them yet. im still praying for it.
Monk is the Prodigy a possibility? you have not said no yet.
jesus so what does that leave?
Coldplay
The Decemberists
Bon Iver
Nine Inch Nails
Jane's Addiction
M83
White Stripes
Led Zeppelin?
Hi Monklish! Will there be any smacking up of bitches this year?
Yes Yes Monklish will bitches get smacked up this year???
Hey Monk, do you happen to know anything about All Points West? Bjork???
Chemical Brothers are doing a DJ set people, I told you this already. So much for fucking excitement. U2 is playing as well.
I thought U2 was debunked already..
Always Sunny DJ set?
Chems Bro DJ Set on Friday = FAIL
^agreed^
Ok...so to recap: No Bowie, No Depeche Mode, No Smiths, No Faith No More, No U2, No White Stripes, No Radiohead. So basically that means there will not be a Prince type addition this year...because there really are no other big names to add.
If it's gonna be Chem Bros dj set thats very weak...and while EDM has cool setup...does anyone REALLY love the music? I would much rather see Elbow, Royksopp and the Prodigy added. They have good shows and great catalogs.
Blur or Gorillaz???
big live edm act, hmmmm....
BOARDS OF CANADA
Boards of Canada would make people cry....
in a good way.....
The fact that saturday is being headline by the killers, gv must want more 16 year old girls at coachella. Bad move
so Monk , was the U2 rumor the excitement you were talking about when this post started ? but now , it seems to not be true ,.... is there still going to be excitement to line up additions ?
is it just me or are there no reunions this year?
^ what do you call Faith No More
oh shit..I've said too much!
its not faith no more , why would it be without Mike ?
its not faith no more , why would it be without Mike ?
phuck! phish just got back together!
is it them? please god no.
you guys are going to FREAK OUT when you find out the mystery act...
*cough*daftpunk*cough*
im so tired of people actin like they know things. spit it out if you think you know, if not then stop messing with our minds
Bonnaroo and Lolla are sharing the Beastie Boys
I had a terrible dream last night that it was Oasis....so what do we have here people, we got the cube fellow, chemical brothers. Jose Gonzales is still rumored, as well as a few others over at CoS. Lady Soverign, Yelle and Animal Collective are the only mentionable bands GV is promoting up until Coachella. What about...
Titus Andronicus
The Tallest Man on Earth
The Dodos
Beach House
Andrew Bird
The Shins
Ponytail
Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles
Yeasayer
Outkast
The Felice Brothers
Frightened Rabbit
Sorry, I was just spitballing any bands that would be awesome to be added to sunday, i don't know of their tour dates or anything. We're running out of ideas here Monklish. If any of these bands are on the fence you could just name em, or drop a hint, if none just say none. Or I can wait till Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks again.
Not Phish...they have publically stated Bonnaroo will be their only festival appearance this summer.
@Balaam:
You've shown absolutely no proof of your "knowledge." Provide useful info or go away and quit wasting everyone's time here.
why would you give any creedance to balaam just ignore them
what about the STONE ROSES? the festival needs a big reunion.... this is the 10th aniversary and so far...there's none.
I would take The Shins over more than 27 bands at Coachella.
what happened to the avalanches monk?
boards of canada monk?
Pink Floyd would be sweet , it would be a reunion , and exciting , and a great way to close out the weekend , and a nice follow up to Roger Waters last year . hhhhmmmmm
Monklish prove's himself too be a fucking fraud once again.
^ fail on the use of "too"
and "prove's"
lulz
Monk, can you deny Röyksopp so that I can quit hoping for them?
I'd love Titus Andronicus to be added! Obviously not a huge add, but it would make the whole weekend just that much better. Good call.
the Future Sound of London
Chemical Brothers
Pavement
Murder City Devils
Devendra Banhart
Etienne de Crecy
Mr Oizo
Asobi Seksu
Q-Tip
will all be added
Unfortunately, Asobi Seksu is in Montreal on April 18th.
Yeah Titus Andronicus would be great...Anyone hoping for Little Joy too?
Only the Avalanches, Boards of Canada, or Pavement could make up for the lack of greatness this year, and of those, the Avalanches seems most likely, maybe Pavement next year.
How about Pearl Jam?
I like Mark D's list! Too bad that won't happen!
My balls are blue, this sucks. Go Coachella!
Soooo Monklish should we expect these additions to come this week like u said or has it changed over the weekend?
Monklish has forsaken us. :(
At this point, the announcement is going to be made on Coachella.com. Monklish, you may have done well the first time around, but you provided little more then a open forum for everyone else to rant this time around. Oh well, thanks for nothing I guess.
Live Quasimoto set, you heard it here.
Monklish has NO clue as to who is being added. Period. Proof is in the pudding, kids.
As soon as the information is posted over at the Coachella site, Monklish's code of silence will be broken and he/she/it will blab how they knew all along, yet couldn't give up the information. Predictable twat.
U2? C'mon now, really? I don't think so.
Depeche Mode? No. End of discussion.
Pavement? Next year. GUARANTEED.
The White Stripes? No.
Kings of Leon? No.
No Doubt? No way.
As I said before, The Killers will be CO-HEADLINING Saturday. And the other headliner will be a reunion act.
well, what reunion act? Jane's Addiction? Faith No More? The Smiths? Blur? Roxy Music? Neutral Milk Hotel? Outkast? Pulp? Pink Floyd? I really hope it isn't the Replacements....
Pink Floyd can't reunite, Rick Wright has passed away.
As if Saturday didn't need an addition bad enough already, word from the UK Tabloids is that Amy Winehouse was denied a work visa and won't be able to come to the US for Coachella.
Led Zeppelin ?????
Damn Monklish do u not check ur blog? Atleast let us know if ur info is correct on adds of this week...
any stone roses possibility?
If you love her so much why don't you marry her.
GV has announced to media, will be public this week. Only slip is, there will be both a major band and major dj added.
Chemical Brothers
Blur
Simian Mobile Disco
Faith No More
Interpol
Chem Bros
Outkast
Chem Bros
I Heard The Avalanches are being added to Saturday
& Pavement are being added Sunday.
Sunday will also include:
Neko Case, Etienne De Crecy, Pheonix, Kinky, Yelle, and the Two Gallants
Bull Schiessre
britney spears and your mom is playing
^best guess on these comments
You won't know who's being added to this year's Coachella until several weeks after the festival is over, probably mid-May. It's a new experiment for GV.
stfu coachella is in spring.
@Quentin Tarantino
yeah i've made the joke before.
we'll know all the artists for sure by april 20. leaks on the night of april 19
Simian Mobile-NO
Yelle-NO
There are no repeats of last year being added.
There will be at least one add to Sat, and at least two added to Sun.
Major DJ will close off the festival on Sunday.
Big Audio Dynamite reunion is happening. You heard it here first.
Monklish with Winehouse out of the picture will this delay the add anouncement or has GV already have someone lined up?
So can we swap Pavement and The Avalanches? Pavement Saturday, Avalanches Sunday...or Chem Bros on Sunday...what about DJ's that have played in the past...like Tiesto?
So no repeats of last year. That still leaves:
Interpol
Faith No More
Pheonix
Blur
The Avalanches
Pavement
The Arcade Fire
Andrew Bird
Bloc Party
Cursive
Fela Kuti
Guns N' Roses?
Neko Case
The Chemical Brothers
Etienne De Crecy
Air France
The PBA
Neil Young?
Guess? Even if you're toying with us...deny or confirm some if you can
Jesus Christ Monklish, why does this blog even exist if its for the point of you not actually telling anyone anything?
I liked this set-up first time around but this is just stupid.
