New post.

How are you all doing?

Feel free to ask questions in the comments. There were too many on my last post, so I am starting fresh.

Monk,
After looking at the lineup, it seems like it was tailored around the Gorillaz. Most of the bands/contributors on plastic beach are on the current lineup and I could see them performing the album in full with all the guest artists. Agree? Snoop, and Lou Reed may not be announced but be special guests.

Also, people were hinting that Tiesto will close the main stage after Muse, anything to that?
Thanks

Wilco?

Anonymous said...

feel free to ask any questions? we asked plenty of them, that is why there were 200+ comments, mostly all questions with no answers.

Who do you think is a POSSIBLE ad? We will not hold it against you if you are wrong, give us some names pleasse.

Monklish said...

@anon259 Lou Reed will only be their as an audio sample. Snoop will probably show up. Tiesto after Muse.

@anon213 No Wilco.

@anon333 I do not think that anyone would want to dig through all those comments. Adds are minimal, this year. Ticket sales have not slowed down. I doubt you will see a Sade or Arctic Monkeys or Beastie Boys or Hole addition. Probably smaller ones like the expected Die Antwoord addition. Maybe Broken Bells. The Dome and Do Lab are coming back, so you will get those, as well.

Harry said...

I'm doing great, thanks. How are you?

Harry said...

Oh btw are you dyslexic? Just wondering. You called anon312 anon213

Anonymous said...

Any idea when we should get set times?

Daniel said...

Hi Monk, good to see you post again. Are the tickets selling at the same pace compared to last year?

Anonymous said...

as long as broken bells are looking like a possible add, i couldn't ask for more

Anonymous said...

Any chance that Beck could perform with Charlotte Gainsbourg?

Anonymous said...

ugh no arctic monkeys? :( im in vegas and will miss them due to being at coachella that weekend. just great.

Monklish said...

@J. Harry Fine. No dyslexic, I was typing on my phone earlier and memorized the numbers incorrectly.

@anon539 Week before the festival.

@Daniel More have been sold this year than last year at this time.

@anon821 If he wants to be there, he will.

@anon852 I could be wrong.

Anonymous said...

Goldfrapp out of nowhere? What up Monk? You holding out on us? come on! How'd Goldfrapp sneak in there. I read every comment in the other post and visit this blog every day. Goldfrapp not mentioned once, anywhere!

Anonymous said...

Nevermind. I fail. Assholes on Coachella boards. SIGH. Hate that place.

Anonymous said...

Bonobo?

Thom Yorke ???? (Atoms for Peace I hear) on Main Stage earlier or closing out Outdoor Theater

Monklish said...

@anon1048 Bonobo wanted to play but it does not look like it is happening. It is still possible if you check out his tour dates, but I doubt Goldenvoice would take away potential ticket sales from his El Rey show a few day later.

Atoms for Peace should be on the main stage before Pavement, I would guess.

Anonymous said...

What are your must-sees of the weekend?

Do you have any info on set times yet? Will Orbital be playing after Gorillaz like all the plurs on the board are demanding?

Anonymous said...

If I didn't buy tickets prior to the announcement, this would be the year I would stay home. They just seem to be sitting on this list, while Bonnarro adds and adds. Why no Arctic Monkeys?, Warpaint? Broken Bells? Strokes? Something special,(Interpol) and I don't mean some bullshit aniband and Thom Yorke's whatever. I just can't get excited about this, and there has been no build-up with additions.
For those who like the line-up, I'm happy for you however.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Monk. Good to see ya back.

Anonymous said...

oh ya...no one has mentioned it, but have you heard anything about the National being a late add? Thanks.

Anonymous said...

or Bonnie Prince Billy? I am the previous 2 posts as well, so you can just address me as the most current anon time that I am.

Anonymous said...

i'm really still hoping for an arctic monkeys add...i'd be at the show in vegas if it weren't for coachella! the energy at their shows is amazing, and that new album would sound even more trippy in the desert.

Anonymous said...

monk...let me just lump all of these into one post for you...I asked about the National and Bonnie "Prince" Billy being possible additions, what about Mumford & Sons as well? you did have them on your initial list.

Anonymous said...

any other dj adds coming monk?
Booka Shade or A-Trak? Hood Internet?

CHUCHO said...

Hey Monk,

I was wondering, Do you think the festival will sell out? I ask because I still haven't bought my tix due to monetary issues, but plan on buying them at the end of the month. I'm a little worried since many people are saying it's selling really well.

Anonymous said...

No to Mumford & Sons. They will be in Europe that weekend. So far as I know, Bonnie "Prince" Billy only has four shows scheduled so far this year and will be in Portland on April 8th. Booka Shade will be in Italy on the 17th of April. The National kicks off their tour in Virgina on the 22cnd of April and will be back in California in May so they are unlikely. A-Trak seems to be free and doing a lot of festivals. The Hood Internet will be in Los Angeles at the end of March, so don't count on them. So the possibilities that still stand are Arctic Monkeys, Here We Go Magic, Die Antwood, A-Trak, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Wilco, and some duo named Daft Punk...jk...but seriously, I don't think they have anything going on...but it'll never happen this year.

Anonymous said...

I heard Mike Siegel is gonna be there.

Anonymous said...

I heard that's 92% true!! Pending work in Aus. If he makes it, this will make Coachella 80% better at least.

Anonymous said...

LCD before Jay-Z is great, but how do I choose between Jay and Deadmau5. Half and Half I guess.

Tiesto after Muse is perfect. Too bad Coheed will prob be closing out the Outdoor and Gossip will probably be closing out Mojave. I hope Pretty Lights isn't closing out Gobi.

I hope something happens for sunday night, like an amazing DJ addition.

Anonymous said...

hate to spoil one of the surprises...underworld saturday

Anonymous said...

anon 8:50, you are the biggest retard

Anonymous said...

why am i the biggest retard?

Anonymous said...

is it cuz i don't like orbital all that much. And I love to end each coachella in the sahara...therefore I wouldn't mind something amazing being added to sunday, but I know it's not gonna happen.

Anonymous said...

is it cuz i don't like orbital all that much. And I love to end each coachella in the sahara...therefore I wouldn't mind something amazing being added to sunday, but I know it's not gonna happen.

Anonymous said...

or is it because i post the same comment twice?

Anonymous said...

monk any shance of del coming out to preform with gorrilaz?? ? ?

hope so, he is so clutch for all the songs hes in

Anonymous said...

del will not be there, he is touring canada. underworld will be there though.

Anonymous said...

Broken Bells! Wow. That would be unreal.

Anonymous said...

When the Gorillaz play, are they going to play just Plastic Beach tracks, or will they pull from their full catalogue? Has anyone seen them before? Will we hear "Rock the House", "Feel Good Inc." and "Sweepstakes" all in the same set? How were they when you saw them live? Any contributions will be appreciated. Thanks

Monklish said...

@anon1240 Yes it will be a full catalog show. I do not know what specific songs they will put on the setlist.

@CHUCHOEFINCA If you buy your tickets before the end of March, you will probably be okay, but if you are really concerned and are planning on going, I would buy them as soon as you can.

Anonymous said...

thanks monk!

Anonymous said...

I hear the negotiations with Mike Siegel are reaching a deal...apparently it is a 93% chance he will be there each day of Coachella playing the baterbong.

Anonymous said...

how about Mrs. Potato Dick?!?

Anonymous said...

HAVE SEX WITH THE IRON SHEIK!

RIP ASS DAN

What about VV Brown? Opening for Little Dragon right before Coachella.

Trig said...

To me, all that needs to complete this line up is Doves and Broken Bells....

Monklish said...

Everyone literally gets a pitchfork.

Anonymous said...

I just read the guys from FreeCreditReport.com will be playing! Go tell your dad, tell your mom

Anonymous said...

I saw and spoke to A-trak at Fake Blood's show at SXSW tonight. He confirmed that, although he IS going to Coachella, he WILL NOT be DJing this year.

Anonymous said...

hey monk...don't pitchfork me, but do you have any idea where and when Pretty Lights might appear this year? Sahara or Gobi? You don't think they'd be closing out the Gobi do you?

Anonymous said...

hey monk,

have u got any knowledge of lucent dossier commin back this year?

Anonymous said...

dossier will be there...it says so on the coachella poster.

Monklish said...

@anon926 seems like the type that would answer your question:
http://www.prettylightsmusic.com/#/contact

Anonymous said...

this year has the most bands ever. it also is selling very well. and it's a damn good lineup. Why do I still want more?

Anonymous said...

adds r coming sooooon

Anonymous said...

I know you've said "probably not" for Arctic Monkeys, but they're in Vegas on the 16th and Pioneertown on the 18th now, are we really to believe that is all a big coincidence and they won't be in Indio?

Unknown said...

So this Candian article in French says Arcade is confirmed. It says April 28th though. Do you know anything?

http://www.ledevoir.com/culture/musique/285261/arcade-fire-a-osheaga

l u k e said...

thanks for all the tips - what about some smaller bands like small black, bear hands, wavves, and born ruffians?? any chance of adds

popsicill said...

@EMMANUEL

Read closer it says that rumors say they will be at Coachella. The April 28th date is for Rock Werchter in Belgium.

Anonymous said...

but rock werchter is on april 1-4 not april 28th.
maybe it was a typo? intended for april 18th @ coachella?

Anonymous said...

"but rock werchter is on april 1-4 not april 28th."

i meant: werchter is on july 1-4 not april 28th.

Andrew said...

If Arcade Fire are playing on Sunday, I will be pissed. There are too many good bands already. I just don't think that they will be there with the headliners they already have.

Anonymous said...

they won't be there, but friday and saturday already have so MANy bands that if there was a big add, it would have to be for sunday.

Anonymous said...

can i just say...this will not happen, but it would be amazing if Underworld got added sunday, so it went Pavement at sunset, Gorillaz, and then Underworld. BO NER

Anonymous said...

Monklish, Can you please update us on who will be added to the poster between now and the festival? 100% For sure adds, and then maybe names that are being kicked around? Thank you!

Anonymous said...

Monklish, you might want to add that Mike Siegel is now a 97% confirmation. I don't know why people aren't talking about it.

Anonymous said...

Camping is sold out now.

Anonymous said...

Monk, any truth to these new Arcade Fire rumors?

Also, I would have assumed coachella could have gotten Snoop, Mos Def, etc. (Gorillaz collaborators) on the lineup, in addition to De La, Little Dragon, etc. I'm kind of surprised they're not on the lineup.

Do you have any info on adds, or is it pretty much a crapshoot now, and more likely that there are no adds?

Anonymous said...

I heard from a reliable source that by the end of march that suitable terms will get mike siegel to be there from australia. Everyone get pumped!!!!

Anonymous said...

Tickets are facing an inevitable sellout, so if there are any adds, they won't be major. Unless they are acts that just wanted to play for free at the last minute (Beck in 2004)>

Anonymous said...

Hey monk, can we assume no adds? So now we can just fret about lineup times?

Anonymous said...

Ladies & Gentlemen, hold on to your butts. Michael Siegel will be attending the 2010 Coachella Music and Arts festival. He will be there all three days, so get your cameras ready.

Anonymous said...

who is Michael Siegel??

Anonymous said...

He's the American Down Under! The philosopher! The body! The spontaneous combustible! Doves cry when he sings - & just like Jay-Z his best work comes when he doesn't write it down! He'll be the best Australian export there - better than the Temper Trap no doubt!

Anonymous said...

rapping my fingers...rrrap...rrrap...rrrap.

Anonymous said...

Warpaint is touring with Yeasayer on a short western jaunt culminating in Phoenix on the 15th of April--ADD? Also, what about the Arctic Monkeys? while we are at it, What about some adds period???

Anonymous said...

The National, Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint, Die Antwoord will be added.

Anonymous said...

National won't be. Underworld will be.

Anonymous said...

Again Monk disappears. Why do I check this blog if NOTHING is ever responded given a response?

Monklish said...

@anon433 What questions haven't I answered? "Who are the adds going to be?"

Arcade Fire, The National, Underworld, and Wilco are definitely not making an appearance.

I highly doubt that you'll see Arctic Monkeys there, but I could be wrong.

Keep in mind that the festival is nearly sold out, so they really have no reason to add more acts.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the information!

Anonymous said...

pure filth's lineup:

http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38438&highlight=dome+lineup

Anonymous said...

When do you think it will sell out?

Anonymous said...

I already have tickets, but it just seems like Goldenvoice has been coasting on this one. I have been bored since the line-up was announced since there have been few adds, and no adds of consequence. There are so many adds that make sense, and if its beause its a near sell out, Maybe people should just wait next year. Some suggestions: The National, Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint, Sleepy Sun, and a major surprise.

Anonymous said...

The lineup is already great, it doesn't need any adds. If you don't like the lineup don't come, thats easy enough. Go to sleeparoo or poprockaploza

Anonymous said...

to anon 6;34 Don't take it personal that I have an opinion. I never mentioned that the line-up was weak, I just said there has been no build-up like in past years, and YOU know the line-up has just been sitting there doing nothing. And I never got the memo that one had to make a choice when it came to festivals. I go to as many as I can.

Anonymous said...

If Royksopp doesn't play with Erlend and Karin this year I don't think I'll ever see it.

I'm happy with the lineup, but it's such a missed opportunity!

Interesting. If that actually happens, the main stage on Sunday is stacked. The Big Pink in the Mojave would be a good draw...

Anonymous said...

Why does everyone think it's going to sell out?? It NEVER has before...not even when Rage played...it doesn't seem likely that it will completly sell out

Anonymous said...

Who knows it may sell out. I wont believe it until I see it. It's a great lineup but it certainly does not have the draw of 2007 (remember Rage, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Chili Peppers, Bjork, LCD, Sonic youth, Faithless, Jarvis Cocker, Manu, Willie, Placebo, Of Montreal, etc. etc.) and as you point out, that didnt sell out.

Anonymous said...

What are you guys talking about, 2007 sold out like two months before the festival.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it DOES sell out. If you don't have tickets yet and plan to go, you better get them ASAP.

Anonymous said...

2007 did not sell out 2 months in advance. 2007 sunday single day passes sold out 2 months in advance.

Anonymous said...

If you haven't heard about it, check out coachellapreview.blogspot.com. It's a 2-3 song sampler from basically everyone in the lineup! I didn't know a lot of the artists, but it's nice to get a taste - I discovered a couple new obsessions!

lateralus_with_cheez said...

2007 3-day passes sold out in mid-February - we came from UK a friend decided to come a little later got caught out.

Anonymous said...

Harvey Danger is taking the Gorillaz place on Sunday

Anonymous said...

All those set times predictions came from the predictions thread on the board.

Anonymous said...

I did use those as a reference, but those are what I came up with, butt hole. But I do feel like there is still quite a few flaws, their staging is impossible to predict.

Anonymous said...

Monk, will there be additions due to them adding an hour for fri and sat?

Anonymous said...

Do you know anything about the Gang Starr rumor monk?

Anonymous said...

Set times next week? I would think either Monday or Thursday?

Anonymous said...

wrong. they will be out the 12th or 13th

Anonymous said...

I'm gonna skip friday to see "Death at a Funeral" opening night. Chris Rock, Tracey Morgan, Martin Lawrence, and Danny Glover. Are you kidding me? That's like Yeasayer, LCD, Grizzly Bear, and Deadmau5...but bigger, and better...and blacker than Jay-Z.

Anonymous said...

The Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint, and Here We Go Magic are all in the area Coachella weekend, and I have to hear they are going to add the morons Die Antwoord from South Africa? If there is a more shock value garbage band on the planet, please sign them also. Ths would be typical Coachella 2010. No adds, and then this bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Am I the only one going to Coachella thinking that this has been the most boring build-up the festival has ever had in he past? I still think they have to add someone on the last day. since here are now six less acts then saturday and three less than friday, but at this point who cares anyway.

Anonymous said...

Dear Monk,
Besides Die Antwoord, Caravan Palace, El Gran Silencio, and Here We Go Magic, who would you put your imaginary money on to be added?

It's also okay to say no one because the festival is great...

but come on...adds are fun :P

mark said...

Who cares about adds.

We need some subtractions from the lineup. The upcoming conflicts are already killing me.

I have more than 15 bands to see each day. Lets start taking people OFF the lineup.

Anonymous said...

Maybe you could be realistic and take a couple of those bands off of your coachooser. You're going to ruin your weekend running around, cutting the sets you see in half. Let's add Arctic Monkeys, Wilco, and Underworld...so you can have 16 per day.

Anonymous said...

Set Times????

Monklish said...

@anon603 Other than Die Antwoord, I would not expect any of those to be on the final lineup. Realistically, it will be Die Antwoord and a small dance act or two like Jokers on the Scene...according to the Coachella message board at least. Maybe Sean Penn due to that Coachella.com YouTube video. Other than that, expect no adds.

@anon205 No set times until next week. Once they print the schedules, it will leak out online.

Anonymous said...

alright monk,
thanks holmes

Anonymous said...

There will be one big add. Wait for it...

Anonymous said...

It'll be Prince.

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk

Anonymous said...

the festival is not selling out this year, btw.

Anonymous said...

No set times till the week of? Monk, come on, its never been that late

Anonymous said...

Set times are always that late

Monklish said...

Set times came out the week of last year, as well.

Anonymous said...

I think in 08 and 07 they came out a little earlier, but I think they're really going for anticipation eh...

Anonymous said...

I've been to Coachella every year since 2004 and the set times have come out the week of every single year without fail. You guys just have terrible memories.

what are your sources for these set times?

Anonymous said...

"Charlotte Gainsbourg 6:45-7:35
Miike Snow 5:45-6:35"

So only 10 minutes are needed to set up for Charlotte?

what a bunch of hooey...

New adds and final times on Monday.

Anonymous said...

ahhhh, the old "post as Paul" trick. Nice try.

HEY MONK- any idea about muse's stage setup? do you think they will be able to accommodate their massive pillars that they have used on their tour or do you think it will be a regular stage setup???

i'm sure the adds and set times will be released on monday. they have been every year from what i remember.

Anonymous said...

The set times always come out on Tuesday or Wedensday. It is also very rare that there are lineup additions that accompany the set times announcement. Few years has this occured.

I work at the printing company making the booklets and anon's list at 10:56 are the real deal.

Anonymous said...

Anon @1056

As tall as lions is confirmed to play at 310 in the mojave. Yeasayer has been confirmed for 5 on friday. But I think you're pretty close.

Printing guy...shut up.

anon 1056 is wrong about set times. I know for a fact that The Dead Weather is closing either the Mohave or the Outdoor Theater.

Anonymous said...

I just think Dead Weather is big enough and important enough to be on the main stage, plus they fit right before FNM and Muse.

Dani said...

Set times are still being decided.
Stop whining.

Anonymous said...

@anon working at the print company--where is your print company located?

Anonymous said...

I like the idea of Hot Chip closing the Sahara.

Anonymous said...

me too! eff David Guetta's cheesy ass Euro prog house and Tiesto's even cheesier candy raver e-tard trance... give me a real electronica dance party to close out the Sahara on Sat.! no brainer that that act should be Hot Chip!

Anonymous said...

All of your fake schedules are wrong! Pretty Lights just got moved to Friday, so now it's become clear you were all just talking out of your asses (which we pretty much knew already).

Anonymous said...

Seriously, wtf, set times??

Monklish said...

All of the leaked set times are fake, for what it is worth.

Jeff said...

You rock Monk! If the Stone Roses ever reunite at Coachella, will you marry me?

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing they're switching around the lineup today for a couple of minor adds tomorrow, and then the schedule will be out wednesday

Anonymous said...

ya, new word is that set times are coming wednesday or thursday. the poster is not finalized apparently.

Anonymous said...

Monklish,

Have you heard anything on these Dr. Dre to appear w/ Jay-Z to drop the new single Under Pressure?

Thanks!

Anonymous said...

WE NEED SET TIMES!!!OMMFGWTFGD~??!BBQ!1!

Monklish said...

Sold out.

Anonymous said...

Just heard from a confirmed source that you will all know set times by Friday.

Anonymous said...

'Tis true, just tried to buy the 3-day pass from ticketmaster.com and it returned the search with "not available."

Anonymous said...

I'm glad I got my ticket LOL

Anonymous said...

DIE ANTWOORD!

Anonymous said...

monk, since the set times link is up, do you think it will be up and running tonight? Or do you think they won't be out until wednesday? Or better yet, what do you know?

Thanks

Anonymous said...

Such a cocktease to put the link up and deny access. Asses

Anonymous said...

monk, since the lineup drop this blog has been a total f-ing waste

(really)

supre you're a fucking douchebag.

Anonymous said...

set times are posted

Anonymous said...

There are so many holes in this line-up schedule. It seems that Goldevoice decided that they were not going to add anyone period. How in the hell is Warpaint, Here We Go Magic, and Arctic Monkeys not on this final list? They are all in the fucking area the days leading up to the festival. Instead Goldenvoice adds Moronoic, electro-rap idiots Die Antwoord.

Anonymous said...

Anyone notice "mew" gone? No replacement?

Anonymous said...

by the way, the "sell out" is complete bullshit. It's "sold out" in that it is too late to order tickets on ticketmaster - convenient ruse, but it's not the same. You think the festival happened to sell out the exact date that set times were announced? hahaha.

I bet you they sell single days at the gates. Tons of them.

Anonymous said...

anon 750

shut the fack up

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:50, you're an idiot. TicketMaster allows you to print tickets instantly.

It's sold out, skippy.

Anonymous said...

Monklish, any truth to the rumors about Dr. Dre showing up to drop the new single, in a collaboration w/ Jay-Z? Thanks!

Anonymous said...

btw, Tollett admittedly cut the capacity at the last minute from 85,000 to 75,000. So 10,000 potential tix went unsold. Sorry dbags, but that's not a sellout.

Anonymous said...

guess what a-hole. If all the tickets that are for sale, are sold, and none are available. That's a sell out. K?

Also, could you do me a favor? When you get a sec?

Go Fuck Yourself. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

anyone know when the do lab lineup will be released?

Craig said...

I'm done checking this blog until 2011. Thanks for all your work Monk! Have fun at the fest

Anonymous said...

@ 1:22 - i'll do that when I'm done with your mother. unfortunately, she's insatiable so i may not have time before friday.

seriously though, if i tell you I'm selling 85,000 tickets but then i've only been able to sell 74,900, and i just say fuck it, im only selling 75,000 then so it "sells out" - that's not much of a sell out.

Anonymous said...

you guys, for real. Why has no one addressed this. I know for an absolute fact Mike Siegel will be there. He's not on the lineup or set times, but he tweeted for sure he's going to be there...monk, do you think he'll just be in attendance? I hope he spins, Australian djs are rowdy as shit.

Anonymous said...

maybe he's on the do lab/dome lineup

Anonymous said...

Hey I saw Mike Siegel at Deerhunter last night, he actully spun a little bit with the DubLabDjs...AMAZING! I talked to him and he said he might join Flying Lotus in his set, but most likely will be in the dome...damn that fucker looks like a younger, handsomer David Duchovny.

Anonymous said...

Mike Siegel in the dome?! So I guess he's venturing into dub step now?? I like his older stuff, but I'm not going to miss that set! What night will he be there? Anyone know?

Anonymous said...

When I talked to him, he said he's attending the festival for the three days, and that he'll be in the dome on saturday!!!! WOOT WOOT!

Anonymous said...

So 2 main things that caught my attention this year, 1 soooo mant good 3rd and 4th tier bands I spent only 1 show in sahara. Who were the best shows over there this weekend so I can check them out?
2, How did the Gorillaz allow themselves to be out down by Thom Yorke? I mean gorillaz should have had huge inflatable gorillaz characters or holograms or a huge plastic beach set up and they had nothing. Don't get me wrong they sounded sic but they could have easily been the show of the weekend if they had half of jay-z's showmanship.

Anonymous said...

Really loved this years Coachella. Predicted a few of the bands that played last year. Maybe next year Lisa Bouchelle will play? She totally rocks so thats my prediction. If there was a voting system, you all should root for Lisa Bouchelle!!!

Anonymous said...

Monk,
What are they saying about the debacle this year?? What changed from prior years (management)?? They were some positives but the shitty planning just doesnt make sense. Please tell me/us the ones who understand what the fest has been for all these years is not over????
