^Have you not seen some of cities Deadmau5, skrillex, and bassnectar are playing right now? And EDM isn't on the rise? People still carry pagers in some of those towns. The shit's everywhere now dude.

Anonymous said...

EDM is definitely more mainstream lately.

Anonymous said...

^Kiss FM bubble gum pop hits are now just basically rip offs of old trance music. I also heard Skrillex on an insurance commercial, there's no doubt EDM is bigger than ever.

Lighten up Man, it's just comments.
You're all cooler than each other, OK?

Who buys festival tickets?18-30 year olds
Which is the exact demographic to which DP would sell out instantly. I'm not saying that they would be popular with everyone but they would definitely sell out both weekends and be the most attended set on the grounds. Them and Radiohead would be special just because the buzz around the festival for those sets would be amazing.

And to the moron citing Daft Punk's most mainstream song as a some weak form of a comeback...you either hate electronic music or have never seen a video of the Alive 06/07 tour. Daft Punk when they are ready will be insane...Probably 2013 unless they're planning some crazy last second announcement.

So Queens of the Stone Age are most definitely in via Josh Homme's mouth.

Anonymous said...

Im not one to hate on you all, as it is more than entertaining to read all of your insanity.

First of all, the festival world has changed. I am sadened to say that it has changed dramatically since my first Coachella 4 years ago. (and to all of you about to start hating I know that 10 years ago festivals were probably even cooler).

Festivals use to be for music extremists and for people who loved to dabble in drugs and alternative lifestyles to some degree. Today, they are enjoyed by the mainstream and the more we talk about how awesome festivals are to some dumb blonde at a bar to make her think we are cool so we get laid, the more lame ass people are going to start showing up.

Coachella itself has made itself less special and exclusive by going to a 2 weekend format which is extremely lame. Who would want to go the 2nd weekend. A moment can only happen once, you can't have the same festival a week apart.

So as much as I would love to see rare acts every year, it isn't going to happen. Would Daft Punk be rare, yes, but you aren't going to get them for $300 a ticket. If Coachella would raise prices a little they could get better talent and pay for exotic bands. Even 30 a ticket would be over 2 mil more they could throw at a band.

Too many festivals + Too many people who are greedy = not as cool festivals.

sad but true.

I sadly agree^. .

Anonymous said...

I'm going the 2nd weekend because I figure there will be less douchebags.

"a moment can only happen once" LOL What a dick.

Anonymous said...

@Anon123

Sure festivals have gotten bigger but that doesn't mean worse. Coachella sold out in 6 days. The supply was low and the demand was high so they added a second weekend. It's called capitalism. They only reason things like Coachella are around is because they make $. I promise the 2nd weekend will not affect you at all.

And just becasue some of the headliners have gotten more mainstream doesn't mean it's not still for the music "fringe". Coachella is more of a mainstream festival. If you want no really big acts at all go to FYF or something of that nature.

Coachella still gets fringy exotic acts. Just look placeds other than the mainstage. Of the 10 best acts I saw this year, maybe 2 were from the mainstage. And this isn't IHEARTRADIO either. Animal Collective and the Chemical Brothers had prime mainstage slots. You aren't going to hear those acts on the radio.

And even witht he mainstream acts, Atoms for peace did 12 total shows, 1 was Coachella. Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, and Prince have done 1 US festival each. Gorillaz first festival was Coachella...even amongst the headliners they aren't as mainstream as they could be. Lolla gets Lady Gaga and Green day, you won't see that at Coachella.

Overall I think they do a great job of blending semi-lame mainstream headliners (or sometimes like Arcade Fire awesome ones) and awesome undercards. I think they do a better job than any festival in the country.

And yes, as you alluded to, festivals have been going on for more than 4 years. Also more than 10 years. Glastonbury has been around for 40 years. They aren't new. And when the Who and Led Zeppelin would headline them nobody complained it was too mainstream (or maybe they did?)

Anyone excited for the new season of The Office this Thursday?!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

oh, and Parks and rec!

Anonymous said...

Im not saying that Coachella doesn't do it better than other festivals. That is why I still choose Coachella over the rest year in and year out. I was just responding and trying to make sense of what sounds like the end of the world on here by most posters.

I love Coachella, best weekend of the year! Im sure that the second weekend will be great too, but it cheapens it a little to me. I want to have the same memories as everyone at the fest that weekend, those that attend are in some way a family that will always have an experience no one else will have.

Didn't think about Coach on 4/20...That is dope. Have fun 2nd Weekenders!

Anonymous said...

you guys, the line up is due in 3 months and a few weeks!
As headliners go, the one that's for a fact is Radiohead. And with that in mind, Everything in its right place :)

Anonymous said...

^ FACT

Anonymous said...

No one said anything about getting Daft Paunk- The argument was whether they could headline, which is still yes.

Most of your two weekend argument is right, esp the "one moment" comment but as someone else pointed out thats why we have coachella because they have more money.

Also with 2 weekends, Everyone but the highest acts must have some kind of deal. Not everyone is going to get paid thier full asking price twice, I bet Paul cuts deals on talent. So that DOES leave you with more money for acts. Maybe not to the tune of multiple millions but more money in general to spread around. I also feel like with rare acts like Radiohead and Daft punk its never a money issue, its whether GV wants them that year and if they personally are ready. I doubt last year GV was like man we really gotta keep ticket prices the same but an extra half million will get us Daft Punk, oh well.

And while I know Weekend 2 people need to justify thier sloppy seconds with 420 talk...but when is coachella not a 420 like atmosphere? People smoke all day everyday on the grounds and while 420 might get a few more squares to take a hit of the blunt I dont think 420 will be super epic. Not to mention the best part of 420 after coachella is you need a full day of getting straight blitzed to recoved from a weekend of epic music, dancing, hard drugs and no sleep.

Anonymous said...

Daft Paunk is my favorite

Anonymous said...

@3:09pm, big names are fine, so long as they are legit.

Anonymous said...

No one is arguing Coachella has gone somewhat more mainstream in the way of headliners the last few years but outside of KOL, everyone was legitimate in some way or another.

Most of them were previous Coachella attendees moving up to headliner (Arcade Fire, Muse even lame ass KOL fit that bill). Arcade is great and say what you will of Muse but they put on a solid live show. Kanye and Jay Z are the two biggest rappers, both coming off hugely popular albums who also have some crossover appeal with at least most of the Coachella demographic. And the Gorillaz performance was maybe thier 2nd or 3rd live show and first without the hologram setup.

Coachella still does a very good job of getting a diverse mix of indie, electronic and rap up and down the lineup, with reunions are rare US shows still the norm. In comparison to Bonnaroo or Lolla you get much better headliners and the undercard at Coachella is unmatched. When KOL and Muse are disappointments to some, they seem like gods compared the KROQ/KISS mainstays like Lady Gaga that others get.

At the end of the day its not really about headliners. The people that play in contention to headliners are always excellent and Coachella is always looking to make the festival run better than the previous year-like the 2010 debaccle compared to the layout of 2011. Just because you are getting older and current artists are less and less appealing doesnt mean the festival is declining because they book acts that are relevant. And well see this year when Coachella has at least 1 epic headliner to sell out the 2 weekends (heres to Daft and/or Radiohead)

Anonymous said...

Just imagine. . how good Radiohead will look in the poster

Anonymous said...

Monk, what da fuck!
the line up is due in three months. Where da fuck are you?

Anonymous said...

Walter J, where are you? Any updates?

Anonymous said...

The second weekend allows for issues to be addressed to make the festival run more smoothly. Sound board issues, parking lot bottlenecks, traffic into the venue, etc., can all be improved, not to mention artists wanting to "close" Coachella with epic sets.

The first weekend kicks the whole thing off and offers the opportunity for many surprises, let alone riding the buzz of "holy crap it's Coachella."

Settle down, either weekend will be joyous, beautiful and awesome. If you're that worried about spoilers or missing out on something, go to both.

Anonymous said...

two weekends would be epic. even if you didnt have work/school the downtime in between itd be hard to get up for another 4 days of going hard. weeknd 2 would be Rallychella. Its hard to make it through one weekend on the camp grounds let alone two.

Youd have to stay in a hotel unless you are charlie sheen. I always camp coachella but doing the hotel thing for outside lands i could have kept going back for a week straight. Full night sleep, showers and meals make a large diffrence. Although nothing can match the experience of a huge group on the campgrounds.

if gv does get radiohead, outkast and daft punk(one can dream, right?)i wonder how many people would make it to both weekends? they dont need to do that to sell out both weekends but i wonder if tickets would make it past the first 24 hours.

Anonymous said...

radohead AND daft punk would equal a sellout within hours..maybe minutes. The first weekend is reportedly close to sold out already.

Anonymous said...

Monk, a question (that I'm sure you won't answer yet anyway). You had Daft Punk and Rolling Stones listed until the last minute last year...any chance that you learned that one (or both) of those names was actually booked for this year, hence the move to two weekends because they realized they got somebody so big?

Anonymous said...

@ 7:31 -
I agree with everything that you said except with the statement that with Radiohead/Daft Punk it's about whether GV wants them to play. I guarantee you both acts are asked literally every year. The whole thing is that those two are so legendary because of their exclusivity. Daft Punk more or less owes their career resurgence to Coachella, and Radiohead has already proven they like Coachella (rare Atoms for Peace performance), so really once either of them is ready they're playing...GV will shell out the money. Looks like this may be the year for Radiohead. Daft Punk, probably next year at the earliest (unless they want to blindside everybody).

Anonymous said...

When Monklish posted, "Who do you want to see (besides Daft Punk and Radiohead)?" ...MAYBE she/he/it wasn't joking, but was very literally implying that both bands are already signed.

Anonymous said...

^ dumb post

Anonymous said...

@6:45

Dumb. Daft Punk and Radiohead can't force Coachella to book them whenever they want.

Paul Tollett doesn't ask them EVERY year. So stupid.

Anonymous said...

@ 12:55 -

No. Daft Punk, Radiohead and any other fantasy headliner (Bowie, Stones, whoever) have the power here. This isn't the undercard where GV has a lot of say. If you don't understand that headliner choices are as much about who is actually available to play than Coachella hand selecting them then you have no business commenting on who is and who is not likely to show up. A couple of the more infamously poor headliner choices were because every single headliner on their list either asked for too much or didn't have a production ready. You better believe that if Radiohead, Talking Heads, Daft Punk, Bowie, etc. are ready, GV is doing anything they can to book them. They don't have a shred of power in that situation.

Anonymous said...

Or to put it more simply...

Coachella doesn't jump to book Smith Westerns, Smith Westerns jump to play Coachella.

Coachella doesn't jump to book mediocre headliners like Jack Johnson or Kings of Leon, they jump to play Coachella when they have a headliner spot open after their first choices do not pan out.

Coachella jumps to book The Knife and Radiohead, they do not jump to play Coachella.

That is the power struggle. "Fantasy" headliners and the ultra rare acts are more about them being ready and/or willing to play the festival. The other 90% of the lineup all jumps to play the festival and Coachella can pretty much pick who they want.

Anonymous said...

@4:35, everyone knows they have tried and failed to get, for example, David Bowie, on numerous occasions, but you would be surprised at the acts that never get invited.

Anonymous said...

I agree with 435. For example, Madonna asked Coachella for years if she could play before they finally let her in 2006. But that same year they kept asking Daft Punk until they finally agreed to start their tour early and it ended up being the first date on Alive.

I bet you a lot of bands would play the festival for free just for the exposure. But Radiohead could play any festival they want. If they choose to play Coachella there is no chance of them not being welcome.

Anonymous said...

word on the street is, Radiohead is co-headlining with Bjork

Anonymous said...

You guys! The white stripes will headline, for their last performance ever!
so it seems:
Coldplay?
The white stripes
&
Radiohead

Good year :)

Anonymous said...

The White Stripes are already a defunct entity. If they ever reunite, it won't be next year. The Raconteurs are likely, though.

Anonymous said...

LOL
Coldplay & Foo Fighters are co-headling

Anonymous said...

The Flaming Lips haven't been asked since 2004.

Anonymous said...

So, if Daft Punk/Radiohead DEMANDS to play EVERY SINGLE YEAR Coachella will concede? Uh huh. Riiiight.

Anonymous said...

It is not saying that Daft Punk & Radiohead can play EVERY year. But they are both due for a return to Coachella now, and so can therefore play when they are ready.

Walter J said...

Daft Punk isn't happening, neither is Bjork, No Doubt is back in as a headliner, Radiohead and Coldplay are still a go, Beastie Boys are in pending medical clearance. The Avalanches, Blur, Pulp, The Knife, and a couple smaller reunions are being pursued but nothing is set in stone and most will inevitably not happen.

Beastie Boys would be a co-headliner, presumably with No Doubt on Saturday night. I don't know why No Doubt is back in the game, but they are. Expect at least 3 electronic acts going at once during the night time hours. It is what is currently trendy, like it or not.

Walter J thinks he's an insider for posting anonymously and claiming to have a source...could he be any cooler? I guess if he got mad and threatened to stop making up information that he anonymously posts on another persons blog comments section, he could be a little cooler.

But in all seriousness, my boyfriend works with GV all the time and is in charge of coordinating shows and events at the El Rey (thats as far as I can go with the details on my source). We love Coachella and he always has his ears open especially when he visits GV. The lineup is starting to take shape and now you don't need to wait until Nov for Monk to rip off the Coachella Message Boards and make up her own rumors like Daft Punk and The Stones last year....if people want, I'd be glad to make a profile to confirm my identity without giving it away(Walter J, fucking idiot). Although I don't think that Gaga should be at Coachella, I highly object to people who say that she has no talent. She is one of the most talented artists in the business right now.

Anonymous said...

Sunset on the outdoor will be a special performance by Barry Manilow.

Karen O said...

She has a talent for ripping off Madonna and acting like a freak to get publicity. Is she a pop star because of her charisma, message and solid voice...100% yes.

Is she one of the most talented acts in show business... absolutely not. You got to broaden your horizons on talented singers. She's uber talented when you compare her to other pop mainstays right now like Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Jlo, but not to the industry at large...that's just igg-nent. Maybe that's what talent means you but I feel like real talent has more to do with music and less to do with dressing like a man or dry humping male dancers while having a good voice. You're confusing popularity and power with talent.

Anonymous said...

Gaga's decision to be crazy, etc. is smart. Sure, other people have done it, but not only Madonna. Queen, David Bowie, etc. Is Madonna not a copier of those? No one is 100% original and the smart popstars look to their successful predecessors and take notes.

PIPE DREAM LIST
-Daft Punk

-Rolling Stones

-Pink Floyd reunion

-Led Zeppelin reunion

-White Stripes reunion (i think it's too soon, but maybe they will bill it as a "last show")

-Bowie

-Talking Heads

-Coldplay (new album and new tour, havent been to Chella since 05)

-Radiohead (new album, starting one-off shows next wk, havent been to Chella since 04)

-Foo Fighters (Grohl does it Chella all the time in other forms and they are doing a victory lap now and have new material and just won the VMA and have never done Chella as a group)

-Beastie Boys (they only didnt do last year because they were dealing with thelath issues still, that seems to be over i hear, and they have a new album and have not toured on it yet and havent done Chella since 03)

-Metallica and Lou Reed (for some reason, I could see this happening, its two titans together and they have yet to do a cool double group like this and most fest havent doen it really, so i could see it taking place MAYBE as they have a new album coming out together and Metallica has never done it but they DID just do Indio for the Big Four)

-TOOL (they havent been thre since 2006 and i do hear new material rumors rumbling)

-Bjork (she has done it twice and its always packed when she does)

-Eminem (just did Bonnaroo AND Lollapolooza and before u say that that is crazy, remember Arcade did both those fests and then did Chella right after and remember, there has been a hip hop headliner for the past two yrs at Chella too and he is the best rapper alive)

-Outkast (there are new album rumors and they have been Chella die-hard demands for a while now like Bowie)

-Pearl Jam (their documentary is just coming out and they ALWAYS tour and have never fucking done it)

-Jane's Addiction (they have a brand new album, Perry helped start Chella and they are on tour and they have not done it since the FIRST one!! why is no one mentioning them??)

REALISTIC BUT PLEASE SAY IT AINT SO

-No Doubt (I mean come ON Goldenvoice...come on, NO one cares, I repeat NO one cares)

-Red Hot Chili Peppers (is anyone even talking about this new Frusciante-less album???)

-My Morning Jacket (they are building a broader fanbase, but is it really enough to freaking HEADLINE? I dont know, I say no, I say sub at best not even co-headline)

-Lady Gaga (man, I just dont know about this. She MIGHT be cool in the Sahara ironically and while rolling my tits off for a laugh, but man, i just dont know about mainstage...ugh

NO ONE EVER THROWS THESE ARTIST OUT AS IDEAS, BUT HOW COME?

-Tom Petty (dude is a blast live and has headlined Bonnaroo and is a genuine crowd pleaser)

-Bob Dylan (dude has never done it but I guess he just doesnt really "put on a show", no spectacle, just blase excitement that u are staring at the man i suppose, would make him more on a Outdoor stage closer but he would never be billed that low by his camp, shame though, cause that would be neat over on Outdoor heading into something that kicks like Daft on mainstage)

-STEVIE WONDER (remind me, why the FUCK has this not happened yet???? DUDE IS PURE TALENT. He did Bonnaroo in 2010 and man, he is something to see and EVERYONE would dance like CRAZY if this took place. Everyone.

-BLACK CROWES ( i know they are SUBS but i love them adn they should do Chella!)

Am I missing anyone else that could HONESTLY do it/I obviously left off Muse, Kanye, Cure and anyone else that has done it in the last 4 yrs as it is not likely for a repeat that soon.

I want your honest feeback, and lets keep it positive on here and actually TALK about the MUSIC and not bash each other....Coachella wouldnt like it any other way!

YOU GUYS ARE ALL MORONS
noone has any insider information. Maybe to an act here or there, but see how insanely easy it is to sound legit? Its fucking not even october. Theres a reason the insiders who spill information arent posting anything yet, its because there is nothing to post. No one has tour schedules for 2012 yet to look for a void in LA dates, 2012 CD release dates havent been given. Come on, have some common sense. The people who know are under nondisclosures and those who are gonna break them arent gonna feed thier buddy a full list of 100 bands.

So seriously chill out, there wont be any real info until late fall/xmas. And the lineup isnt set in stone until 3rd tuesday of january. So stop listening to people name probable bands and act like they have any inside information.

Walter J, Gay and anyone else are full of shit. Look for real rumors yourself around boards and fansites, not on a anonymous speculation blog

No Doubt is close to completing their first album in nearly 10 years. They've been hunkered down in the studio with producer Mark “Spike” Stent, putting the finishing touches on an album almost three years in the making.

No Doubt started recording the album in 2008 but had to take a break when singer Gwen Stefani had baby Zuma. The album is expected to be complete within the next two months.

“Writing with other people is like a big orgy,” bassist Tony Kanal said to the magazine. “But when you start to cum, and you’re fucking in a room together, it feels like heaven".

@1:20 AM Adele is not headlining.

Bon Iver is clearly mainstage at this point, they have sold out virtually every venue on their tour. The crowd for them (because let's be real, they WILL be there) is going to be gigantic, even too big for Outdoor. That being said I see them getting the Mumford & Sons timeslot.

I have a close friend who works for Goldenvoice and despite the belief on here that the lineup is built from the bottom up, GV took a slightly different approach and made it priority for the top tier acts to be cemented...here is what the top of the lineups each day should look like. Headliners in CAPS.

Friday, April 13th & 20th
NO DOUBT•MY MORNING JACKET
Justice•Grizzy Bear•The Shins•A Tribe Called Quest
Metric•Gary Numan•The Rapture•M83•Kid Cudi

Saturday, April 14th & 21st
BEASTIE BOYS
deadmau5•Bon Iver
Feist•Beirut•Roxy Music•Bassnectar•
Steven Malkmus and the Jicks•Avicii•Mogwai

Sunday, April 15th & 22nd

RADIOHEAD
Adele•Belle & Sebastian
Underworld•the xx•The Eurythmics•Foster the People•Simian Mobile Disco•Lykke Li

Of course the undercard will vary a bit.

Anonymous said...

@7:34, Adele refuses to do festivals, Belle & Sebastian will not be touring yet, 2011 would have been the year for Roxy Music, and would the brunchwave trio that is Bon Iver, Feist, and Beirut all play the same day?

Anonymous said...

Radiohead will be playing Pablo Honey all the way through and then an encore of five different variations of Creep.

Anonymous said...

If you can Belle & Sebastian to play 2012, I will blow everyone.

Fleet Foxes are boring and their set in 2009 was a complete bust. Their style does not work in an environment that not just bleeds but gushes sound from all directions.

Anonymous said...

I too will blow everyone if Belle & Sebastian are there. & Fleet Foxes are incredible. Your opinion is wrong.

Anonymous said...

It is possible to be incredibly talented and boring at the same time...Fleet Foxes prove this.

Anonymous said...

what do you guys think the set list for Radiohead will be?

in no particular order:

Bloom
Lotus flower
fake plastic tress
daily mail
weird fishes
optimistic
little by little
karma police
staircase
paranoid android
reckorner
everything in its right place
no surprises
videotape
separator
i might be wrong
pyramid song
my iron lung

Anonymous said...

seen fleet foxes four times. It's astonishing. I've seen !!! 9 times...we all know what that's about. Both equally as not boring.

Anonymous said...

2012 will feature Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, Justice, and Coldplay. Anybody not reporting these acts is wrong. Radiohead seems likely but I've learned if you think Radiohead is going to do something they probably aren't.

Anonymous said...

i think well be getting:
U2
bjork
&
daft punk
for 2013

Anonymous said...

if we get Radiohead this year, then we wont get Daft Punk.
It would be too good for both to be in the same line up. Even for GV.

Anonymous said...

I know you guys think it's cool to freak out about Radiohead but have you ever seen them live?

Their stage show has been relatively unchanged for at least 6 years.

Nothing they do anymore is revolutionary or groundbreaking.

They're like U2 in dirty clothes.

Anonymous said...

But i am cool

Anonymous said...

yea i dont get the hype over radio head either... they are good.... but not 2 weekends sellout amazing i dont think....

some robots might be there though...

Anyone who does not think that Radiohead could sell out Coachella is seriously dumb and really doesn't belong at Coachella anyways.

Im Daft for Daft said...

Some interesting things about our favorite french robots:
Daft punk have released all of their previous studio cds in march. They love to surprise and do things people aren't expecting. There are founded rumors of them being in the studio for over a year (not for tron either). they played coachella as their first show in 6 years in 2006, kicking off Alive. They also were a late add to that coachella in february.

While i dont think its likely at all, if coachella got them and radiohead both weekend would be instantly sold out and coachella would be regarded as the best festival in the US, getting 2 of the most sought after and rare acts in the world to play the same year.

I know its insanely unlikely but imagine the publicity, money, buzz surrounding that lineup. it would be unprecedented and coachella cant trot out the normal lineup this year with the new setup. they need something special to make the 2 weekends work- some food for thought

^ so what are you trying to say?

Anonymous said...

Where did Monk's comment post in this thread about Daft Punk go ("I'm hearing them too?")? Anyway I don't think it's going to happen, everybody was convinced last year too (with Tron and their Phoenix performance).

Anonymous said...

Caught radiohead outside after their roseland soundcheck last night and asked. I would consider the wink and nod a confirmation.

Anonymous said...

Hey Daft for Daft idiot--Daft Punk was not a LATE add in 2006. They were announced on February 2, a mere two days after the initial lineup was announced.

Anonymous said...

Deadmau5 will be closing the mainstage.

Justice, Modeselektor, and Bassnectar are the Sahara headliners.

Afrojack and Skrillex are booked again this year.

No Daft Punk, sorry.

Roger Waters says he's doing outdoor stadiums for the Wall next year and a slightly changed show. Also he doesn't want to hit the same places he hit last year...anyone have any info on this?

And LOL to Radiohead not being able to sell out both weekends. They might be the #1 most in demand festival band in the world.

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:47 is correct.

@11:11
late as in anything after the original lineup drops. idiot

dont have a coronary over my interpretation of "late", i was simply pointing out some DP facts instead of just spewing pure conjecture that everyone else on this blog seems to enjoy so much.

Its not even october so why not have some conversation based on facts and history of these bands instead listening to idiots like Walter J who just pollute this site with unfounded lies

Brah Breath said...

I wish Daft Punk would officially declare their retirement so that this blog would lose half of the shitheads that pollute this blog with absolutely nothing of significance and provide nothing of value towards the goal of uncovering who will be on that lineup come next January

Anonymous said...

i wish there was some concrete anything about coachella...this year seems extremely slow on the rumor/informatio front. By this time last year we had a headliner and a few big names heavily rumored/confirmed

Anonymous said...

LMAO at Modeselektor headlining the Sahara.

Anonymous said...

@3:41

Are you kidding? There are lot of heavily rumored acts, especially in the subheadliner/undercard section: Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Florence + The Machine, Feist, etc.

Anonymous said...

@ 3:57 -
To be fair, the Florence/Bon Iver/Fleet Foxes/Justice rumors are just because they make a ton of sense, not because of any inside information. Just like how Nero will absolutely be there next year, Kaskade will absolutely be there next year, etc. Bands that have played Coachella before (or at least their lead singer played it before for Bon Iver), are in demand, wouldn't be hard to book and have a current live show they could use. I mean duh.

He meant there aren't leaking rumors of bands that are a little more unpredictable outside of the No Doubt/Radiohead "leak" (by the same source that said Rolling Stones last year).

Anonymous said...

Thank you for clarifying my position @409. thats exactly what I mean...

obviously every year there are plenty of bands that have played before, moved up in popularity with new cds that will probably be there, i was speaking to actual insider information or rumors based on actual evidence or band comments not just our own speculation

Anonymous said...

Why will Kaskade "definitely" be there? He's played many times before as recently as 2010, and I there are plenty of other DJs they could get to headline the Sahara. Also, Kaskade is awful.

Anonymous said...

@5:00 PM -
He is awful but is huge with the EDM crowd and is releasing a new album. Guaranteed Sahara, maybe even in the Boys Noize closer spot. Anybody who thinks he won't be there is deluding themselves. Ditto for Avicii.

Anonymous said...

You know who also moves tickets? Tiesto. By your logic, I guess he'll be there too. Same with Swedish House Mafia. And Skrillex. And Deadmau5. And David Guetta. They all sell tickets. so they'll all be there.

Anonymous said...

1000!

Anonymous said...

The Curse of the Bambino will be at Coachella lol

Anonymous said...

@7:11 -

Yeah but do Tiesto, Deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia have new albums coming out? Kaskade has been releasing tons of new music recently. I am just as confident Kaskade will be there as I am that Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Justice will be there. You can't get me anywhere near the Sahara when it happens, but it's an obvious choice.

And Guetta? He could easily be there too with his new album, let's not even try to dance around that trainwreck. Although I think Kaskade is more likely.
