I dont think Foo Fighters as coachella material, and lil wayne as a sub?, Justice is defenetly a sub-headliner, and probably should go on the main stage.
Subs: Wilco, A Perfect Circle, Pulp, Justice, Drake, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Feist, Grizzly Bear
Plus: The Knife, M83, St. Vincent, James Blake, tune-yards, Flying Lotus, The Rapture, Passion Pit, Ladytron, Holy Ghost, Cults, Katy B, Avicii, Major Lazer, and Thom Yorke will be doing a DJ set somewhere
Tool would be awesome but they aren't doing it. And LOLOLOLOLOL to lil wayne headlining. One of the dumbest things I've seen here since Walter J said No Doubt headlining.
^^^ your link got cut off...cant see what you want us to see...who was holzman? and if Walter J is Holzman, then what is it you are saying? is this someone we should trust or not?
Holzman is someone that posted ridiculous lists of "confirmations" back in august of 2010. 90% of these confirmations turned out false, just like with all the anonymous posters.
Lil Wayne will NOT headline, and he won't most likely won't even subheadline.
Anon @4:37 Justice, Bon Iver, Feist, Florence + The Machine will most likely all be subheadliners if they are there (which makes too much sense for them to be there).
It's Lil' Wayne's last album. As well as Wilco. I suspect Goldenvoice knows the amount each of the acts would draw and are probably courting them. To those of you who don't believe this...Are you people kidding me?
anon @4:37 is is pretty right on as far as I'm concerned. These are all bands that will be available next year. Tom Waits would not be a sub. He would be in Leonard Cohen's spot. It does seem a little stacked, but that person said these bands are being courted. It's funny you people think bands won't play or headline just because you think they suck. This has not been the case in the past. See: Kings of Leon, Kanye West, Electric Touch (twice).
Nobody has said Lil Wayne can't play, everyone is saying he can't headline, and he can't. He's not as big as Kanye or Jay Z, he just isn't. He's not as big as Public Enemy who played on the outdoor.
And people aren't saying bands won't headline just because they suck. Suck is an opinionated term. Coachella isn't going to have Foo Fighters and Coldplay and basically be a copy of Lollapalooza. Drake isn't subheadlining. There's a lot wrong with 437s post. It doesn't mean none of it is right, it just means some of it is wrong.
Also, they aren't going to do Coldplay, Radiohead, Foos. They like to mix up their headliners a bit, those are all of the same basic genre.
First of all, Kanye West does not suck. And as evidenced by his Coachella performance, he knows how to command a stage and put on a live show.
Second of all, my thoughts of people's subheadlining ability has nothing to do with my personal opinion on whether I think they suck or not. I speak from a logical standpoint and Lil Wayne is just not really the type of sought-after artist that Coachella tends to lean towards.
As far as rappers, Goldenvoice goes for either mainstream rappers with CROSSOVER appeal (Jay-Z & Kanye West) or more underground rap artists that break the barriers of what mainstream rap is (Lil B, Odd Future, Wiz Khalifa).
If a mainstream rapper will subheadline this year, it will be Drake, not Lil Wayne.
a friend of mine who runs a promotions company in Melbourne called me up today to tell me that some drongo let slip in a high level meeting that Eminem and Lil Wayne are booked for Coachella.
So first it was Skrillex, now Odd Future is coming two years in a row? Walter J, if you're going to make up names you might at least confirm that they didn't perform the prior year. The poster is on Google Image search if you care to look.
Goldenvoice has booked acts to perform two years in a row before(Sleigh Bells in 2010 & 2011, Flying Lotus in 2009 & 2010), so it isn't impossible. And given Odd Future's progressively increasing popularity amongst the Coachella crowd (playing sold out shows around the world as well), I could see them as being a viable act to consider as a back-to-back Coachella performer.
Anonymous @6:11, exactly. it is an old tradition. Blonde Redhead, Jack Johnson, Peretz, Bright Eyes, Bloc Party, and more have all done it. I imagine Odd Future will be on the main stage.
You have officially cemented yourself as out of the loop on today's fads. You may not like it, and deny it and impersonate me all you like, but it is happening, just like No Doubt almost did.
Not playing: Aphex Twin Bjork Blur Kate Bush Cibo Matto Explosions in the Sky Underworld Tom Waits
^ i see you left our favorite french robots off the not playing list
walter j, since you have these sources is any word on daft punk?
I've heard they started in the studio again with some guests like panda bear but that could have just been a bogus french article and obviously they're not coming back until they have a new album. That billboard article from last year said GV at least approached them but i was wondering if you've heard anything recently if its even a minuscule chance?
and Monklish feel free to chime in on DP or at least mention that debacle last year where you had them on your list until 2 hours before the lineup dropped...then continued to further the bs after the lineup dropped by saying they could play a dj set or do a guest spot.
i think daft punk is unlikely since they have been off the radar musically since tron and album wise since 05. also i dont have any sources @328 but daft doesnt seem the type to sign up for the two weekend setup since their whole identity is based on exclusivity and mystery
Walter J @10:06 Don't kid yourself and the rest of those here. You saw how much attention my (accurate) intel I've provided has garnered.....and of course you try to pose as me and steer them to your baseless blog. I will continue to contribute what I know and continue to debunk all imposters.
I can confirm ONE THOUSAND PERCENT that the Rolling Stones are not going to be there. Dead serious. I know someone who works with them and Mick is refusing to tour right now cause he is PISSED about Keith's book...they wont be there

can we make a list of cool reunions that we all would want to see? and can we all just stop bitching at each other too? come on! Coachella is about VIBE and awesomeness! Lets keep it that way, no?!
I will start....these are bands that would make GREAT reunions i think:
Talking Heads Spaceman 3 Buzzcocks Mazzy Star The Modern Lovers (this would be the COOLEST)
Vampire Weekend is horrendous trash. And fuck this endless recycling of the same acts over and over again. We need a lifetime ban on Hot Chip, MGMT, Crystal Castles, Deadmau5, or The Black Keys ever appearing at another festival again
While I agree Vampire Weekend won't headline I wouldn't go so far as to call them trash...thier set in 2010 was great...they just havent done anything worthy of coming back unless you count the worlds most obnoxious christmas song as an accomplishment.
That said GV needs to get their shit together and book Daft Punk and Radiohead together. This would be considered the most epic lineup of any festival in recent memory. Not to mention this would garentee both weekends sell out and make everyone from the casual fan to the most hardcore coachella junkie cry tears of joy. As the the great michael scott would say WIN-WIN-WIN
Gv doesnt HAVE to book ANYBOY for a headliner....this fest sells out when Kanye and Kings of Douche are headlining....its a damn destination now!!! it simply doesnt matter anymore...they can have ONE big headliner and it doesnt have to be Daft or RAdio.....it could just be coldplay and the place is going to sell out both wknds....my biggest memories are no longer the headliners...its the stuff u didnt see coming...
Yet another poser. While I don't have anything solid to report at the moment. I'm told certain French Robots are finally in serious talks. Hopefully more soon.
No Doubt is headlining! Oh, they said no, so Goldenvoice had to settle for Radiohead.
Beastie Boys and Outkast are co-headlining, and Coldplay is another headliner.
Paul Tollett said 3 months ago that the headliners were already booked, but they just now started talking to Daft Punk. Fifth headliner or am I just completely full of shit with a grade-a douchebag attitude on top of that?
Either Daft Punk is doing a full-scale tour that will include Coachella or they aren't touring. Therefore, they wouldn't be barely getting into "serious" talks now. If they were planning on doing it they'd be planning a huge tour which takes planning, time, and $. With their stage production you can't just do a one-off for the heck of it.
@1:36 I totally agree about the destination point but disagree about an automatic sellout. While me and I'm sure countless others buy the ticket for the experience of the weekend (camping with your friends, the 150 bands, the polo grounds itself are a priceless experience) this accounts for most of the 70,000 tickets for 1 weekend. If there is a "hot" band headlining that guarantees the one weekend sellout (like KOL/Kanye).
But now that GV has rolled the dice on the two weekend setup it needs at least one act that is somewhat more intriguing than Coldplay to not only sell out two weekends but make sure the idea is a stable and repeatable success. Why risk what they have with Coachella now to puss out and get 3 mediocre headliners to save money or some other trivial reason. They extended it to two weekends for one reason, money. They're not gonna cheap out on the headliners when one of the rare people we all call for would cement Coachella, even over two weekends, as the preeminent festival in the US.
Everyone knows weekend one will sellout regardless but it's going to take a Radioheadesque act to sell out the second weekend and sell people on the 2 weekend setup. People like us who frequent the boards and this blog will buy tickets regardless of who's headlining or not. But for the less festival inclined people to come to Indio for 2 straight weekends its going to take someone special. As we are all aware GV has the ability to get these special artists and I totallu expect at least one. They are taking a huge risk and getting Daft/Radiohead/Insert rare headliner here will make sure they continue to rake in our money.
@6:38 You're totally right. I want DP more than any artist on earth but the fact that there are only rumors of them being in the studio at this point leads me to believe they wont be at Coachella.
They pioneered the live electronic stage show so until they have new album and a stage show setup that puts Amon Tobin and Deadmau5 (stage show wise -im not comparing them musically so save ur flames) to shame they wont be back on the grounds in 2012.Its still somewhat early but if there is no word of either of these things by xmas, I dont see it happening.
Yes, while the headliners were agreed to in principle, Outkast has since declined citing the creative needs to work in the studio, rather than rush out another album. The Beastie Boys are pushing back plans to tour till Summer. This is why Daft Punk is back in the fold. GV is not willing to risk a failure, so they are throwing major money their way.
So Walter J, DP is back in the studio and already working on a stage show to put the pyramid to shame? I find it hard to believe that there are rumors of Daft Punk playing coachella before there are even rumors of them making a new album/new stage show.
I love coachella and attach more significance to it than I should but I find it hard to believe Daft would be negotiating a Coachella appearance over any other venue/location before they even had any of the prerequisites for a tour...unless you are implying a one off which seems even more far fetched.
Since you have the source please elaborate as much as you can. It's hard to believe you're not just some boardie who is messing with monks blog for fun unless you give a little more information than these one line tidbits. In one post you just claimed that 3 of the most sought after acts in recent memory are all in talks....I beg you for everyone on here throw us a little more information
Unless they have a album secretly stashed away, I don't see Daft Punk happening. I also don't picture them wanting to do Coachella again because their 2006 set was so special. Why mess with that?
Just get us at least one epic headliner like Radiohead and one truly special once-in-a-lifetime act like Pulp and it will be the best fest of the year times two.
recently someone wrote on here something like "i know how you get your sources Walter J, shame on you!" who wrote that and what did u find out??? is there something we should know??
@1142 are you trying to say that Walter J, the No Doubt hawking "insider" who all of the sudden drops that one of the most sought after acts by fans, outkast, is dropping out for the most sought after, daft punk, is not to be trusted?
I can confirm that Radiohead is headlining, but am unsure about Coldplay. My sources do back up a lot of the names Walter J has listed, so he is definitely onto something.
Sorry for all the hate. My source tells me every attempt to book Daft Punk recently was a "no". I do not have figures, but I am told GV seriously increased their offer for a one off(both weekends) performance. GV is entertaining the idea of helping to fund any stage setup they desire. Unsure if it will be associated with Creators Project
lol, so we are already seeing Walter go back on his "confirmations". When the lineup comes out and he is wrong we're going to get more of, "Well Outkast said they were going to do it but they actually pulled out to make an album. Also, Beastie Boys are putting off touring. I wasn't wrong, they changed their plans."
Having all 3 headliners signed doesn't mean "negotiating". It means they've signed a contract and are now contractually obligated to perform.
^ So glad someone brought this up. It wasnt even a week. It was one day before the lineup dropped if not hours. She had Daft on there then added Kanye the Monday before the lineup dropped and said that it would be 3 of the 4 headliners she still had on there. So after 3+ months of teasing Daft, she pulled them a day before the lineup came out.
In the comments when probed about the Daft incident she still wouldnt resent and said they were asked and would still probably be there "in some capacity" citing a DJ set or Kanye guest spot.
Guys DP are smart when it comes to protecting their image and rep. They killed Coachella 06 with Alive and arent going to come back until they have new material and a new setup. There wont be a one off or a repeat of Alive material. Until there are at least some founded rumors/speculation regarding a new cd/stage setup you can save your emotions and disregard Daft speculation from these "inside sources".
Walter J's complete list is pretty solid and believable. He could be legit, he could fake. All that aside, be it Daft Punk or Fleet Foxes, any band in talks or confirmed can pull out at any time this early for unforseen reasons. Calm down and don't set yourself up for disappointment. I can see all you people waiting to rip this dude if he is wrong when the lineup is revealed, but guess what, you won't know who the hell he is and won't be able to get to him. Plus, he won't give a fuck. Whoever Walter J is, he's providing us info that Monklish isn't. What more can you ask for?
No Daft Punk, Outkast, or Radiohead, but Nickelback and Evanescence will be headlining in support of their new albums. Don't be too surprised; they just had Kings of Leon and two mega Top 40 acts headline.
@5:36 PM: This post is the most interesting because it lays out the central problem for the lineup this year...too many "obvious" subs. Assuming MMJ won't play anything less than an hour and The Knife isn't ready yet, everything else on that list is more or less a sure bet. Can anybody remember a year with so many obvious subheadliners? And that's even before we start talking about Sahara names...
Is it so hard to believe that Walter J doesn't want to create an account to reveal his good sources? If not, why in hell would he tell you who his sources are or where they are from? Appreciate what the guy is giving you. If you choose not to then don't read his posts and stop crying about it.
I might have been disinformed about my headliners....it's funny seeing everyone scrambling ever since No Doubt became a viable headliner though...goes to show ya'll don't are nobody to judge me...
Walter J, why don't you just make a bogus account to confirm you are Walter J or whatever alias you desire.
There's no law saying you have to fill out your information with real information. You act like you have to list your source, his name, home address and phone number to make a Google account. Call yourself Deepthroat for god sakes, since you have such reliable insider info. There is no difference between a made up Google account post vs the ones anyone can copy except you would confirm you are the only person with access. All the time you spend on here touting your "information" as legit, you could have made up 10 accounts with information that lead people no closer to your
Why you repeatedly correlate making a Google account to confirming your real identity or that of your source baffles me. But that concept might be a little too much to grasp judging from your use of the English language in the previous post. So when we call for you to own up, it doesn't mean tell us who you are, it means separate your supposed insider knowledge from the idiots that frequent this blog or shut the fuck up.
"… And though rock record revenues have diminished, the concert business, led by acts with multi-decade careers playing arenas and stadiums, has held steady and in some cases has actually increased. The same is true with high-profile festivals like Coachella, which has locked in No Doubt and Radiohead as two of next year’s headliners… Names in the rumor mill: Bernstein and Mensch, Bono, Dave Grohl , Ken Levitan, Ian Montone, Bob Rock and Brian Eno."
I think if No Doubt did headline they'd be 2nd on the 2-headliner night, but that's my opinion. They kind of sit in that fringe where they aren't important enough to the hipsters and music nerds, not important enough to the old folks, and not important enough to kids under 20 to matter enough at Coachella. They have a small audience from the mid 90s.
But the truth is that article doesn't mean anything. Anybody can post anything on a random internet site. Plenty of places were reporting The Rolling Stones last year. Plenty of places (here) were reporting Daft Punk last year. I promise you one of the headliners will be someone nobody is mentioning. Just chill....it will be good.
I will admit, however, to getting a little excited just hearing Radiohead.
Like it or not? I highly doubt anybody would have a problem with Rolling Stones/Radiohead/Daft Punk.
But if you think Lady Gaga is closing the main stage after Daft Punk at Coachella you are delusional. Daft Punk closes the mainstage after any single fucking act.
he must be weeding out all of the idiots who sift over his updates waiting for news of a Daft Punk/Radiohead/David Bowie pipe dream without blinking an eye to an irregularity like the claim that Soda Stereo is confirmed though if anyone has a remotely functional brain and some decent music knowledge would know their singer is fucking comatose....I can't wait for the claim that Nick Drake is booked in the Leonard Cohen spot ;)
Face it, whomever Walter J is (Monk?) has some scoop which is giving everyone hard ons and wet dreams since he started contributing...he's been dropping hints as to who the headliners might be....recall something bout No Doubt being replaced by Radiohead and the uproar over it?
He's known all along...now I wonder who the third headliner might be or if this Beasties/Outkast is all just misdirection once again...
Foo Fighters? Coldplay? Really? Why bother going to Coachella if the lineup is just the previous year's festival whores and Lollapalooza headliners paired with the uninteresting trendy acts from two Coachellas ago.
To some of the comments above: anybody who does not realize that Daft Punk headlines their day of Coachella if they return is an absolute fool. There is not even room for devil's advocate here, it would be that set in stone.
you people are way too caught up in the order of that prediction. I think the general thought is just the artists. No one is making a case that Lady Gaga would close Daft Punk. it doesnt make any logistical sense, seeing how the electronic acts always close out because its still EDM crowd thats going hard that late at night.
calm down on OMG you put daft punk/lady gaga instead of lady gaga/daft punk-WHAT AN IDIOT!
Daft Punk isn't just an electonic act that would get to close after the headliner; they are a completely legit headliner. Having two acts with elaborate productions like Daft and Gaga on the same day would not happen. Either act would have to close.
Not only is Daft Punk a bonafide headliner in their own right (not a "close the main" act like Justice, Chemical Brothers, etc), they are probably one of the biggest headliners GV could book, right up there with Radiohead. So no, they wouldn't just perform after Gaga in this ridiculous hypothetical just because electronic closes the main, they'd also perform after because they'd be BILLED HIGHER. As somebody else pointed out, there isn't even room for a devil's advocate in this situation.
Coachella took 2 headliners from Lolla's 2010 lineup for their 2011 lineup. Do you people understand what a huge draw Coldplay, Foo Fighters & (Beastie Boys, Oukast, Radiohead) would be?
If anyone would've said Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, The Strokes, at this time in 2010 people would've thought the were mad. Get used to underwhelming headliners, but great subs and undercard.
Foo Fighters would be a huge draw. All 6 of their albums have been nominated for a grammy. They've sold millions of albums. You're an idiot if you think they're not a draw. I would defend this and I'm not even a fan of the Foo Fighters.
I think weenie roasrt generic bullshit means thief not a draw because they're not special and you can see them whenever. Obviously Coachella will have one of these but the Foo Fighters and Coldplay wont bothn headline because they both fit that mold
and arcade fire was assumed from the day coachella 10 ended so that wasnt a surprise at all
@2:41, 2011 had shitty subs and a good but not amazing undercard. What will our subs be next year? Are we just going to get a rehash of 2011's leftovers or are we going to get some good rarities in there too like Pulp or Jeff Mangum or The Knife?
Foo Fighters really isn't a draw at all man. They perform everywhere. Honestly they are guaranteed to be the least impressive name on the poster if they show up (which I'm hoping they won't), I can't think of a more underwhelming potential headliner. Gaga at least rarely does festivals, Beastie Boys would be a big reunion, but Foo Fighters? Even Sasquatch has had Foo Fighters. Your local radio station's concert has had Foo Fighters. Nobody is going to be excited to see them on the poster, they are a last resort for GV I guarantee it, and the fact that everybody has been booked for a couple months means they didn't have to stoop to last resort this year.
The only reason Deadmau5 and The Black Keys have gotten so popular over the past four years is because Daft Punk and The White Stripes haven't been around to fill their respective voids.
Daft Punk would sell out Coachella both weekends faster than last year...A rare act that appeals greatly to both the strictly electronic crowd and the indie/alternative crowd. Even within the public at large they are known because of Tron. If that crap sound track was a billboard top album then imagine their next album and press surrounding that... Not denying Lady Gaga's ability to sell tickets but to say getting Daft to play wouldn't be one of the most impressive and covered festival appearances in recent memory is just ignorant.
You have to be trolling right? Not only is Daft Punk a two weekend headliner, but from the start many suspected they were one of the very few that would be such a huge exclusive deal that would sell out two weekends, although it's looking like Radiohead will be that act this year. In fact, Radiohead is probably the only act I can think of that would be billed above them in a Coachella 2008 style poster without a day breakdown (which is the poster style I think we'll get this year). They are legendary and one of the primary reasons EDM as a GENRE is on such a comeback. When Lady Gaga brings back an entire genre to an entire generation then we can talk, but there is no way in hell Gaga is a bigger draw than Daft Punk. I'm guessing this year will be your first Coachella?
Lady Gaga is such a fucking scam. What was up with that whole Al Pacino bit at the VMA's? What a groundbreaking reinvention of even poorer bull shit that was.
And for the record Daft Punk would easily sell out both weekends, wiithout question, and it really doesn't even matter if it's Coldplay, Foo Fighters, or even fucking No Doubt attached as the other HL's, it'd still be a sellout. Daft Punk is one of the most wanted acts (not meaning just EDM) in the world period.
My point is they're just as likely as any other band at this juncture. Why do you people care if they're there or not. The best thing about having a shitty headliner is getting the chance to see other amazing bands or a top notch electronic act.

Flo + the Machine is a guaranteed subheadliner as is Bon Iver or even Feist and Waits for that matter. Linueup is WAY too stacked dawg.
Add Maserati to that list and I'd believe it
Lil Wayne fucking sucks. Why do people fucking listen to that garbage. Worst.
There is no way that silverback Lil Wayne will be there
new order is headlining
@437 Foo Fighers are not headlining
Anon 4:37 is pretty close. Foo Fighters & Coldplay are not going to be on the poster.
Lil Wayne won't sub and Tool are playing. Fact.
Kaiser Chiefs, booked.
I dont think Foo Fighters as coachella material, and lil wayne as a sub?, Justice is defenetly a sub-headliner, and probably should go on the main stage.
I'd rather sell my ticket than see tool as a headliner
anon @ 4:37 is only part right
Headliners: Coldplay, Lil' Wayne, Tool
Subs: Wilco, A Perfect Circle, Pulp, Justice, Drake, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Feist, Grizzly Bear
Plus: The Knife, M83, St. Vincent, James Blake, tune-yards, Flying Lotus, The Rapture, Passion Pit, Ladytron, Holy Ghost, Cults, Katy B, Avicii, Major Lazer, and Thom Yorke will be doing a DJ set somewhere
Why should we believe any of you assholes? Upload some documentation if you have the balls
Tool would be awesome but they aren't doing it. And LOLOLOLOLOL to lil wayne headlining. One of the dumbest things I've seen here since Walter J said No Doubt headlining.
Walter J is holzman. Remember him?

^^^ your link got cut off...cant see what you want us to see...who was holzman? and if Walter J is Holzman, then what is it you are saying? is this someone we should trust or not?
Lil Wayne was the 7th act at Bonnaroo this year. Fuck off with the headline bullshit.
Feist will not be a sub. She will be sunset main.
I can't wait for the reaction when Daft Punk is announced.
The subs on 4:37's list would be a lame bag of crap. Lollapalooza 2.0. What happened to Blur and Pulp and Yeah Yeah Yeahs?
A Perfect Circle just did their nostalgia tour. What's the point of doing it again next year.
Lil' Wayne is not playing, but Lil' Bow Wow and Lil' Jinx are.
WALTER J,
WERE YOU GO??
monklish needs to post something if only for the purpose of burying this thread
Update for 9/9:
Amon Tobin
Braids
Casiokids
Drake
Dresden Dolls
Feist
The Field
Jeff Mangum
Odd Future
Perfect Circle
Pulp
Tangerine Dream
Still no word on The Knife other than that if they are ready in time, it will happen.
Buzzcocks
Tom Waits
Kurt Vile
John Maus
M83
Belle & Sebastian
Beirut
CONFIRMED.
Walter J @3:55
You are an imposter.
BELLE & FUCKING SEBASTIAN!!!!!!!!
Walter J @8:26 is the imposter.
Anonymous @6:11, exactly. it is an old tradition. Blonde Redhead, Jack Johnson, Peretz, Bright Eyes, Bloc Party, and more have all done it. I imagine Odd Future will be on the main stage.
Walter J @11:09
You have officially cemented yourself as a know nothing imposter with that Odd Future on the mainstage comment.
Walter J @12:12
You have officially cemented yourself as out of the loop on today's fads. You may not like it, and deny it and impersonate me all you like, but it is happening, just like No Doubt almost did.
Not playing:
Aphex Twin
Bjork
Blur
Kate Bush
Cibo Matto
Explosions in the Sky
Underworld
Tom Waits
^ i see you left our favorite french robots off the not playing list
walter j, since you have these sources is any word on daft punk?
I've heard they started in the studio again with some guests like panda bear but that could have just been a bogus french article and obviously they're not coming back until they have a new album. That billboard article from last year said GV at least approached them but i was wondering if you've heard anything recently if its even a minuscule chance?
and Monklish feel free to chime in on DP or at least mention that debacle last year where you had them on your list until 2 hours before the lineup dropped...then continued to further the bs after the lineup dropped by saying they could play a dj set or do a guest spot.
im a fan but id love an explanation on that one
i think daft punk is unlikely since they have been off the radar musically since tron and album wise since 05.
also i dont have any sources @328 but daft doesnt seem the type to sign up for the two weekend setup since their whole identity is based on exclusivity and mystery
Going forward, all of my posts will be on this blog.

Walter J @10:06
Don't kid yourself and the rest of those here. You saw how much attention my (accurate) intel I've provided has garnered.....and of course you try to pose as me and steer them to your baseless blog. I will continue to contribute what I know and continue to debunk all imposters.
A sidenote.
my last lineup contribution was on 9/1 @6:24 pm
my last post post was on 9/2 @ 1:04 pm
And if any of you have payed attention you would know how adamant about my identity as well as my source's being protected.
It's unlike for me to all of a sudden decide to start my own blog for recognition therefore I will provide my intel by posting HERE and ONLY HERE
that is all, thanks
I still love you Walter J!
you still didnt say anything about DP......
I bet Radiohead is at the top of every prediction list. Now we just need a little Daft Punk slippage and we're 2/3 of the way there.
http://gothamist.com/2011/09/09/radiohead_will_tour_next_year.php
Yo Walter.....
Please, this thread is so huge now....getting hard to put all your lineup adds together....could u make a legit list with ur notes on the following:
-who u think is headlining
-who u think is subheadlining
-big reunions
-who u believe will NOT be there
-and of course the good ole undercard
Be great to see these all together!
Thanx!!!!! :)
Walter J is hooked on phonics.
Friday: Tool/Queens of The Stone Age
Saturday: Rolling Stones/My Morning Jacket

I can confirm ONE THOUSAND PERCENT that the Rolling Stones are not going to be there. Dead serious. I know someone who works with them and Mick is refusing to tour right now cause he is PISSED about Keith's book...they wont be there

-just walked out of Paul's office, and saw it...gonna be a good yr
can we make a list of cool reunions that we all would want to see? and can we all just stop bitching at each other too? come on! Coachella is about VIBE and awesomeness! Lets keep it that way, no?!
I will start....these are bands that would make GREAT reunions i think:
Talking Heads
Spaceman 3
Buzzcocks
Mazzy Star
The Modern Lovers (this would be the COOLEST)
who would u guys wanna see?
@September 8, 2011 3:12 PMWalter J is holzman. Remember him?
http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=3357664955031611612&postID=2383133504346640819
The best thing about this page is that Monklish announced that the Beasties were playing.
Bands that would be fantastic and have already recently reunited so goldenvoice just needs to ask them to play:
Pulp
Cibo Matto
Daman Albarn is said to be considering American Blur shows, so there is also that.
Can we get a new post, already? Long thread is looooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnng
@anon 11:10
that's probably the best realistic lineup I could hope for. Don't want Coldplay, but since they're a lock what else can we do.
GV, please do not book more than one of the following bands:
Coldplay
Foo Fighters
Beastie Boys
No Doubt
Eminem
Lady Gaga
I can handle one of those headlining but not more than one. (even though I don't usually see the headliner).
And please don't just bring back all of last year's puppies (Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, My Morning Jacket, etc).
Fleet Foxes will definitely be there. TV on the Radio probably a 50/50 chance. My Morning Jacket, probably not.
What's a last year's puppy?
would you hold it againts me?
im on the edge of glory!

HEADLINING
what is a coachella?
I really hope Brittney spears headlines, or at least cher
Fleet Foxes will no doubt be there, as subheadliners. I would say that TV On the Radio is about a 90% guarantee as a subheadliner as well.
Vampire weekend headlining would be amazing!
Vampire Weekend not big enough to headline yet. Maybe one day.
WTF MONK?
Walter J, any updates?
DJ Medhi
Gv doesnt HAVE to book ANYBOY for a headliner....this fest sells out when Kanye and Kings of Douche are headlining....its a damn destination now!!! it simply doesnt matter anymore...they can have ONE big headliner and it doesnt have to be Daft or RAdio.....it could just be coldplay and the place is going to sell out both wknds....my biggest memories are no longer the headliners...its the stuff u didnt see coming...
Walter J @ 9:05 AM
Yet another poser. While I don't have anything solid to report at the moment. I'm told certain French Robots are finally in serious talks. Hopefully more soon.
^M83 aren't robots...
M83 is already booked.
@1:36
I totally agree about the destination point but disagree about an automatic sellout.
While me and I'm sure countless others buy the ticket for the experience of the weekend
(camping with your friends, the 150 bands, the polo grounds itself are a priceless experience) this accounts for most of the 70,000 tickets for 1 weekend.
@6:38
You're totally right.
@ walter j
are you for reals about Daft Punk, or is just one of the impostors?
Guys Walter J has already confirmed Soda Stereo, so Daft Punk is pretty likely! WALTER, WE LOVE YOU!
ummmmm everyone go to coachella.com
wtf?
Yes, while the headliners were agreed to in principle, Outkast has since declined citing the creative needs to work in the studio, rather than rush out another album. The Beastie Boys are pushing back plans to tour till Summer. This is why Daft Punk is back in the fold. GV is not willing to risk a failure, so they are throwing major money their way.
@ 6:50pm
I've already noted that Soda Stereo was an attempt to discredit me. There are many who do not appreciate my work and for that, I'm sorry.
how the fuck do you "know" all this walter? there is no way at all you or your "source" knows all this stuff
what happened to the coachella website?!?!?!?
@ 6:56 PM
All will be revealed in January...
The same source that told Walter J Daft Punk is in talks told me that they will be a sub headliner to David Bowie, Talking Heads and Radiohead.
see how easy it is to have a source?
@ walter j
where is monk?
Florence and the Machine are booked.
I think Walter J is Monk trying to bait everyone in for another year of unfounded daft punk speculation without having to attach her name
I think you're all incredibly stupid for attempting to make sense of RANDOM, ANONYMOUS comments on a blog.
@6:51 - why are we looking at coachella.com ??? what was there when u saw it?
recently someone wrote on here something like "i know how you get your sources Walter J, shame on you!" who wrote that and what did u find out??? is there something we should know??
holy shit, they booked Aretha Franklin
EMINEM is happening, i know his lawyer
@1142
are you trying to say that Walter J, the No Doubt hawking "insider" who all of the sudden drops that one of the most sought after acts by fans, outkast, is dropping out for the most sought after, daft punk, is not to be trusted?
what nerve....
@11:57, the whole site was down for a while
I can confirm that Radiohead is headlining, but am unsure about Coldplay. My sources do back up a lot of the names Walter J has listed, so he is definitely onto something.
fuck you benny
WALTER J I WANT MORE DAFT PUNK INFO PLEASEEEEE
Sorry for all the hate. My source tells me every attempt to book Daft Punk recently was a "no". I do not have figures, but I am told GV seriously increased their offer for a one off(both weekends) performance. GV is entertaining the idea of helping to fund any stage setup they desire. Unsure if it will be associated with Creators Project
Walter J @ 9:42 is an imposter
Walter J @ 9:58 is a fake.
Lady GaGa is in talks. Sorry guys, it is what it is.
lol, so we are already seeing Walter go back on his "confirmations".
Nice try, though.

@ 9:08 - for some reason, I believe you.
does anyone actually have any constructive Daft Punk information?
Walter J = no credibility
Get a consistent account to post from, or continue being an assclown.
there's real coachella related daft punk info out there, we in the know are simply just keeping it from you all
You're all extremely fucking stupid for believing me.
What more can you ask for?
we can ask for sources
or any kind of evidence
What's this about a Coachella video??? Or is that just some b.s.?
No Daft Punk, Outkast, or Radiohead, but Nickelback and Evanescence will be headlining in support of their new albums. Don't be too surprised; they just had Kings of Leon and two mega Top 40 acts headline.

http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news08690
To be fair, Hits Daily Double "confirmed" The Rolling Stones last year, so I'd take that article with a grain of salt.
I fucking hope no doubt isnt at coachella, unless they throw some epic shit on in the sahara
Honestly besides Walter J who thinks of No Doubt, new album or not, as relevant?
That article means nothing. It would be all over the place if it was true.
But I think the focus of this blog should be less on how much No Doubt sucks and more on how awesome Radiohead is.
Imagine a world without Radiohead. . .
@5:36 PM:
This post is the most interesting because it lays out the central problem for the lineup this year...too many "obvious" subs. Assuming MMJ won't play anything less than an hour and The Knife isn't ready yet, everything else on that list is more or less a sure bet. Can anybody remember a year with so many obvious subheadliners? And that's even before we start talking about Sahara names...
This girl has it correct, especially if you are who I think you are. Just jumble around a few bands/dates and there it is:

^ both weekends will sell out instantly..
"goes to show ya'll don't are nobody to judge me..."
ESL?
So when we call for you to own up, it doesn't mean tell us who you are, it means separate your supposed insider knowledge from the idiots that frequent this blog or shut the fuck up.
you people are so fucking stupid...
This was posted on HITS Daily Double: NEWS
"… And though rock record revenues have diminished, the concert business, led by acts with multi-decade careers playing arenas and stadiums, has held steady and in some cases has actually increased. The same is true with high-profile festivals like Coachella, which has locked in No Doubt and Radiohead as two of next year’s headliners… Names in the rumor mill: Bernstein and Mensch, Bono, Dave Grohl , Ken Levitan, Ian Montone, Bob Rock and Brian Eno."
Last Lineup Update from Walter J:
Sorry if my reasoning for not opening a google account doesn't satisfy you but anyway...
As promised here is an update.
9/1/11
Soda Stereo
--------------
You know how I KNOW ur an idiot and a fake? Soda Stereo's lead singer is in a fucking COMA.
^no, you are
No Doubt is not fucking booked, hits daily double is fucking stupid, and Walter J is a fucking scam.
No Doubt is not happening.
Unfortunately, Radiohead probably won't happen either...
^ Sure. Prove it douchebag.
Also, you're completely retarded if you think Lady Gaga is headlining.
Anon 11:40PM and the guy/girl she quoted are correct.
Like it or not those are your headliners.
Walter J
any more updates?
HI. IM A DUMB CUNT
whats a Cunt?
is it a band?
like it or not?
who wouldnt like daft, radiohead and and the stones
Like it or not? I highly doubt anybody would have a problem with Rolling Stones/Radiohead/Daft Punk.
But if you think Lady Gaga is closing the main stage after Daft Punk at Coachella you are delusional. Daft Punk closes the mainstage after any single fucking act.
Radiohead is playing Roseland Ballroom on 9/27 and 9/28, so if any New Yorkers want to ask the band if they are playing...
Walter J is fucking playing with all of you....
he must be weeding out all of the idiots who sift over his updates waiting for news of a Daft Punk/Radiohead/David Bowie pipe dream without blinking an eye to an irregularity like the claim that Soda Stereo is confirmed though if anyone has a remotely functional brain and some decent music knowledge would know their singer is fucking comatose....I can't wait for the claim that Nick Drake is booked in the Leonard Cohen spot ;)
@ Anon 6:05 Correct, DP will close the main stage in the same capacity as Tiesto after RHCP.
Gaga gets the headline slot.
^wrong
Daft Punk headlines.

@September 8, 2011 5:27 PM ...shhhhh ;)
No one is making a case that Lady Gaga would close Daft Punk. it doesnt make any logistical sense, seeing how the electronic acts always close out because its still EDM crowd thats going hard that late at night.
calm down on OMG you put daft punk/lady gaga instead of lady gaga/daft punk-WHAT AN IDIOT!
and lady gaga wont be there anyway
DAFT PUNK PLEEEEEASSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Coachella took 2 headliners from Lolla's 2010 lineup for their 2011 lineup. Do you people understand what a huge draw Coldplay, Foo Fighters & (Beastie Boys, Oukast, Radiohead) would be?
If anyone would've said Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, The Strokes, at this time in 2010 people would've thought the were mad. Get used to underwhelming headliners, but great subs and undercard.
^That means Beastie Boys OR Outkast OR Radiohead btw.
Foo Fighters a big draw? ROFL.
Weenie Roast generic rock band ftw.
Sorry,
Daft Punk isn't a 2 weekend worthy headliner, accept it.
It would be a co-headlining spot at best for DP. Yes, I know they sold out the Sports Arena in 07, blah blah blah.
Lady Gaga would sell more tickets than DP and you all know it.
who do you guys think will headline coachella 2013?
"Daft Punk isn't a 2 weekend worthy headliner, accept it."
Stupidest thing posted here since Walter J claimed the comatose were booked to perform.
What does Gaga have to do with anything? What law is it that says that they both must play on the same day or not at all? Because they would not.
LOL @ Daft Punk being known because of Tron.
If that was the only way the handful of people that saw that piece of shit ever heard of DP they aren't buying tickets.
I'd love to see DP but some of you people are delusional.

The White Stripes don't sound anything like the Black Keys.
Also, you can see a bland act like the Foo Fighters at your shitty local radio fest.
Jack White is too busy drinking faygo and fucking fat girls with Insane Clown Posse.
He probably has a solid meth addiction by now too.
Jack White is a fucking douchebag. You 90's babies really need to get off his dick.
You could see the Foo Fighters wherever you could see Jack Johnson....oh, wait...
Yeah, Coachella could totally get someone like..RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS!...no, waiit...
At least Kings of Leon couldn't headli....oh wait
2009 - At least GV would stay away from the Killers. They're booked everywhere and are playing at Lolla. DOPE!
My point is they're just as likely as any other band at this juncture. Why do you people care if they're there or not. The best thing about having a shitty headliner is getting the chance to see other amazing bands or a top notch electronic act.

DJ Shadow - Kaiser Chiefs - Jeff Mangum - M83 - Beirut - Panda Bear

^ Cool wishlist story, bro.
Can we please get a new post, monklish? Even if it has no info? The comment thread here is now way too long.
@ 9:50
I wasn't trolling and I haven't missed a Coachella since moving to CA in 04.
Your love for DP is clouding your judgment. EDM is on a comeback? A comeback from what?
Go listen to One More Time again and stfu.
