It says on the page:

2012 passes go on sale Friday, January 13 at 10am PST. ****Please click one of the buttons below to set up your purchasing account ahead of time to help expedite your order process. You will want to set up your account by Thursday, January 12th as you will not be able to enter the purchasing site until the on sale begins Friday morning.******

When you click on 'Buy Now' it takes you to the 'How To Purchase' page which gives you instructions on setting up your account.

^I don't normally respond to internet warriors and grade school name calling but since you asked so nicely :)
@823

Yes, I have heard of Glastonbury. What, just because they sell out with out a lineup? Who cares? Maybe Coachella is sold out for weekend one. I was just saying, in my opinion I didn't think it was.

And that makes me a dumbass?

Grow up man.

One more add:

http://www.coachella.com/festival-passes/how-to-purchase#

Clear your browser cache...

It should show that the tickets will go one sale Friday.

I am leaning toward the, "there might not be many left" camp. Good luck all.

Anonymous said...

I still can't load the site. :(

@8:37, you're not wrong about a complete sell out for Weekend 1. You can still buy tickets for that weekend, but they have to be part of a package (either Lake Eldorado, Safari Tent, Hotel and Shuttle package, or GA/Shuttle combo). They probably have a few thousand of these types of tickets left, but who is willing to shell out thousands of dollars for these packages?

Whoever wants Weekend 1 should be fast on the trigger on Friday morning and buy the GA/Shuttle combo pass for $335. If you don't use the shuttle pass, at least you've only burned $50.

Coachella just confirmed on Facebook that "there are some festival pass/shuttle pass combos left for w1" ...so there you have it...weekend one will be sold out before most people can click "buy".

Name calling is a way of life to our spineless internet generation. I suppose people have to stroke their ego somehow.

Let's take this in a positive direction. Let's name the bookings that we are happy about, or downright ecstatic for.

Mine:
Pulp - Very cool grab
Refused - Totally unexpected
Radiohead - Expected, but always a good booking
Mazzy Star - I love them... finally get to see
Amon Tobin - Looks like an amazing live set
Cat Power - Saw at Loufest... great
Black Angels - Saw at Roo... great
Band of Skulls - Seen many times... Great
Jeff Mangum... WOW!
GY!BE - Seen once before - How did they get booked at a festival?
St. Vincent - I love Annie... Good show at Pitchfork 2010
Santigold - I've missed her a few times now, and will fix that.
At The Drive-In - Totally unexpeted
Modeselektor - Great at Lolla

Orangejulius said...

@9:01

If that's true, then we do indeed have a situation. I'll need to make sure my friends get their GA/Shuttle pass immeadiately.

When was that posted? I'm looking for it on their FB, and don't see an announcement past the poster.

Thank you if you are indeed telling the truth... This is gonna be a mess.

Anonymous said...

click on "Everyone (most recent)" to see fan posts...Coachella posted that message on a dozen posts of people asking if the festival is sold out.

No dome.

:/ no do Lab, no creator's project, not even a note about art being included this year...hmm.

GV went all out for a money grab this year.

Geezuz! What a bitch! Can they have some time to update the site freakin baby

Anonymous said...

I cleared the cache, rebooted and still can't load the site. grrrrr. I use google chrome but also tried with internet explorer and still can't load the site. anyone have any ideas for me?

Anonymous said...

After last year, this line-up feels very weak. I know people are excited about Pulp etc. and that's considered a "get," but I always think this - "where else are they going to play??"

Not to upset anyone. Also, there doesn't seem to be any sort of creators project or artsy thing this year. And c'mon - the Black Keys played last year. And it's significantly less overall acts, right?

And yet...I'm going...

Anonymous said...

Whomever said we were going to be disappointed when the lineup dropped sure wasn't kidding.

Anonymous said...

It really looks half finished.. Doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

and just think, Sigur Ros and Daft Punk haven't even been added yet...going to be the best Coachella ever ;)

Anonymous said...

half finished, half baked, half assed ... yup, pretty underwhelmed.

Anonymous said...

Oh c'mon. Just give up on the Daft Punk already. They aren't on the poster.

weekend 1 sold out all but a few combo passes and weekend 2 is almost sold out.Vip passes for both weekends are sold out. All car camping and tent camping is sold out.

Anonymous said...

Jesus, people, relax. All of the people who just like the festival and trust in their ability to bring some interesting music together already bought tickets, which means that weekend 1 is almost, but not quite sold out. They did the shuttle thing last year too, it's a requirement they agreed to with Indio to reduce traffic. You'll be able to get tickets if you are punctual Friday.
Besides, if you are just into the lineup, but aren't devoted to Coachella, which I respect, then why would weekend 2 be such a downgrade?
And to the people here complaining that the lineup is weak, this is a deeper and more diverse undercard than any of the other years I have been, so do some homework, and come ready to have fun.

Outkast, Daft Punk, Pearl Jam, A Tribe Called Quest, Beck for 2013

Am I the only one here up at 4am researching all these bands?

Dr. Dre & Snoop, At The Drive-In, Radiohead, Swedish House Mafia, Justice, the Black Keys, GY!BE, Flying Lotus, Nero, Amon Tobin, Miike Snow, the Shins, FLorence and the Machine, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Girl Talk, Arctic Monkeys, AVICII

about to start looking up the rest of the acts i haven't seen or heard before. very good lineup. one more big add after tickets go on sale would be cool.

Anonymous said...

Bad news or not, Monk really delivered this year.

Anonymous said...

Awesome line up, but looks like a few more names could be added. Maybe third tier acts to fill it out. I doubt any co-headliner will be added at this point. Week 2 will sell out Friday tho. Radiohead has no LA date so the people waiting on that will jump here. No one saw Dre and Snoop headlining during the presale, so those fans will jump on those tickets too. I really don't care for those who think this line up is underwhelming and I don't care for the racist remarks. Get out of the polo fields because there are people who want to go to this show. I'm glad it's not you.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the heads up Monk. I don't care what percentage you got right. You got enought right to make me come back next year. Haters going to hate. I don't care if you know people, pull names out of a hat whatever. It's fun leading up to the actual announcement. Some people take the fun out of it.

Can't wait to see band of skulls, childish gambino, madness, pulp, at the drive in etc

Dre and Snoop are a get bitches. Who you think brought you the oldies?

Anonymous said...

i am so fucking excited for this. amazing lineup. definitely going both weekends.

Anonymous said...

@1013, 99% of people were saying that about last year. You people will never be happy with a lineup.

It's too bad Radiohead leaked so early because you'd all be excited for it if we didn't know it was coming.

Best lineup since 08.

Anonymous said...

Who you think taught you to smoke trees
Who you think brought you the o' G's
Eazy-E's Ice Cube's and D.O.C's and Snoop D O double G's
And a group that said muthafuck the police

Anonymous said...

If you don't like the lineup...did you forget about dre?

Anonymous said...

This is a brilliant lineup. So much extremely rare stuff for so many genres. Rock has some real gets this year (At the Drive In AND Refused??), all the indie darlings are there, although it's a little too mainstream for my liking the Sahara has NEVER seen this much starpower...plus, with two gigantic headliners, this is going to sell out instantly.

My only gripe is that Sunday is really uneven, not in terms of quality, but genre. Way too much electronic influenced stuff, if you don't like that you really have very few options on the first three lines. I think GV needs to add something (not happening with this impending sell out) or switch some acts around.

Anonymous said...

Lineup is so off-the-chart (unbelievably) bad, it's not even worth getting angry over.

On the other hand said...

Has anyone double checked walter j's lineup? Im interested to see how correct he was or wasnt. For shits n gigs.

Anonymous said...

^ Thats correct. Weekend 2 might blow out even faster than that.

Anonymous said...

The idiots on the Facebook page have no idea how quickly this thing is going to sell out.

Anonymous said...

Its going to be non stop whining on FB for the next month for the people who dont have tickets... and shit scalpers could sell those tickets for $600 easy

Anonymous said...

Resale prices is hovering around $465 ea at the moment. That's about 65% mark up and it will only be going up.

Anonymous said...

Never mind the scalped ticket prices, most people are gonna get a nasty shock when they find camping is sold out for weekend 1.
Good luck finding a hotel within an hour that won't scalp you.

And don't blame scalpers for buying all the camping tickets, they are non-transferable.

Anonymous said...

Can't get a ticket for Coachella????

First world problem, you'll survive!

Anonymous said...

All you clowns hoping for some crazy Daft Punk-style add are gonna be sorely disappointed. If it sells out both weekends with the lineup as it stands now, why the fuck would they add anyone else?

Anonymous said...

Why would they add anyone ?

There is already too many people
to see on each day. I have over
10 must sees per day and its only
reaslistic to see like 8 people with eating lunch and dinner.

So they need to start deleting some names off that list, so I have less conflicts.

Whoever thinks the lineup sucks is seriously retarded. And I wont be seeing any of the headliners.

Anonymous said...

^^^

That was me above, so if anyone says I'm stupid for not seeing Radiohead. I've seen them 11 times already so I don't have to see them for this show if someone else is up against them. And I've seen them for every tour since the Bends. And I don't like the new CD.

Anonymous said...

Lunch and dinner!!! Pffttt...not like it's a six course meal. Grab a slice of spicy pie pizza, frozen lemonade you are done for the day.

Anonymous said...

the EDM lineup is weak and needs help. Isn't there only 33 acts listed on saturday?

Not including the dome there were 54 acts listed on the schedule on saturday last year.

The adds are coming.

Hipster says Radiohead are no longer LOL LOL

Anonymous said...

If it's true that the headliners were locked up back in June/July as GV said, the Black Keys are an unbelievably lazy booking.

That would mean that 2 months after BK just played at Coachella 2011, GV decided they needed to lock them up immediately for the following year to headline? Absolute retardation.

I'm guessing the real 3rd headliner (Coldplay/RHCP/Tool/RWaters/Bjork) fell through and BK was the backup. Either that or the people at GV have such a boner for BK that they expected them to blow up bigger than they actually are.

Really unforgiveable in terms of needing 3 huge headliners to launch the two weekend gambit. BK are subs, case closed.

Anonymous said...

It is true a bigger band fell through and that's why we have the keys

Anonymous said...

The Black Keys were the replacement headliner for Black Sabbath.

Anonymous said...

^ pretty sure it would have been Tool but just a guess

KingOfShit said...

For all those worried about Radiohead because you're not a big fan of the KOL, you have good reason to worry. They've stated numerous times in interviews that they weren't planning on playing much from previous albums and that they were going to focus on KOL and potentially some new stuff (which is going to be more in the KOL vein).

Odds are that the other dates they're doing around the US are going to be very heavy KOL. The only hope for Coachella is that they realize that a headlining festival set needs to be a bit broader and cover more ground, so maybe they'll go 50/50 or mix it up more. Their 28-song Bonnaroo set in 06 should give a little hope on that front.

Just be warned that a LOT of the Coachella crowd is likely going to be standing around bored and screaming "Paranoid Android!!!" while they play all the bleep bleep boop KOL stuff that quite frankly all runs together and sounds the same.

Anonymous said...

^

There's enough here for everybody. Clearly Radiohead isn't your style, but they will not fail to impress this year. I have seen them over 10x, and they always produce a great show. Good thing Guetta will be at the same time as Radiohead - something for everybody.

Anonymous said...

^^Dude I've seen Radiohead 27 times on 4 continents, have tix to 6 of their US shows plus Coachella, and I've got a DVD library of 40+ of their concerts. So yeah, really not my thing.

I don't like the KOL direction and the reason I expect very little from this tour and Coachella is because they've been so unbelievably fantastic for the last 15 years.

Regardless, I'll still be there. I'm just not afraid to compare this era against the past and honestly say it doesn't compare.

Anonymous said...

Monklish did a good job.

Can I suggest that there is an obvious headliner for 2013?

Anonymous said...

Outkast ^

Anonymous said...

Swedish house mafia. 2 night in a row. Fist pump !!

Anonymous said...

Good point, 10:40.

Its best to just enjoy the current era for what it is. I enjoyed the hell out of In Rainbows, the strongest and most complete album out of the past several. KOLimbs sounds more like Thom's solo project material, but a beautiful divergence in its own right.

Anonymous said...

@10:40

I agree with you 1000%

Anonymous said...

@11:01, I love the Atoms for Peace stuff. Was the best set I saw at Coachella 2010, and it works on its own. I think the problem is that Yorke is trying to blend that stuff into RH and it just didn't work well.

RH = great
Atoms = great
RH+Atoms = KOL = average

Anonymous said...

In regard to RAdiohead, it is a festival appearance. I saw them at Lolla post In Rainbows and the show was unbelievable. Every band heavily plays their new albums, but at festivals, headliners realize that they have a huge crowd and will dip into past material.

I personally love KOL, and that didn't occur until I watched them play it live on from the basement series. It takes on a whole new life that way. The new material will be great live, it will be spacy and similar to Thom Yorke's Atom for Peace show which was the show of the year that year in my mind.

If people chant for Paranoid Android, I will personally find them and kick them in the nuts.

@9:50

" hipsters say radiohead are no

I'm 45 years old. I'm hardly a
hipster by any definition. And I
didn't say they were no longer.
And I can choose to not like the
new cd because I can hear and my
ears do not want.

Anonymous said...

This lineup is all over the place with a few rare, once of a lifetime grabs.

Saturday's top lines are insanely stacked. Who is going to open for Radiohead? I think Bon iver's new material will be lacking on the mainstage, and on the Outdoor it would be even worse. I think Noel Gallagher's high flying birds is the best opener for them. I like The shins at sunset. Thoughts?

Anonymous said...

The Shins and Bon Iver are unworthy openers for Radiohead. BRUNCHWAVE

Anonymous said...

for anyone that bought presale tickets, when did it say that you should expect your tickets to arrive in the mail?

Anonymous said...

All tickets will arrive in MARCH.

Anonymous said...

@11:25

Most definitely. I totally agree with your sentiments. I thought Atoms for Peace 2010 Coachella was one of the best shows I have ever experienced at Coachella, truly the show of the year. That Radiohead Live from the Basement unveils so much depth to KOLimbs, I cannot wait to see it on the Polo Fields.

Anonymous said...

Is it possible GV will stack Bon Iver at sunset > Shins > Radiohead all on the mainstage?

Anonymous said...

Bon Iver and Shins should
definitely be on Outdoor stage
at Sunset.

Walter J said...

I love how Monklish has remained dead quiet since the announcement. Cunt!

Anonymous said...

Yup, Black Sabbath was supposed to headline.

http://www.metalinsider.net/rumors-and-gossip/was-black-sabbath-supposed-to-headline-coachella

Really hoping GV finds another headliner for Friday to make this Coachella truly as epic as it could/should be.

Anonymous said...

The Black Sabbath news at least makes me feel better that Black Keys weren't actually GV's best or first choice. But yeah...let's hope for a big friday add.

Anonymous said...

anyone know if there are any shuttles close to lake cahuilla camping?

Anonymous said...

So Black Sabbath would have headlined and the keys would have subbed according to billboard. Makes sense too. It also sucks too cause Sabbath and Coachella would have been really unique in my opinion.

herp derp

Anonymous said...

@ 12:10 - Guaranteed. Top three billed acts virtually always play the mainstage in that order.

Anonymous said...

this news about black sabbath makes the black keys seem like daft punk. At least we have a tolerable act playing instead of washed up metal act which I feel would absolutely flop with coachella's current demographic. Can anyone under the age of 25 name a BS song besides iron man or war pigs? How can anyone take Ozzy seriously as a hardcore rocker after we watched his frail 60 year old ass get bitched around by his wife and kids for 5 years and pick up dog shit?

Nice read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
