got my presale! i hope Santana ends up on the lineup, his new album is really good, no more stupid collaborations with Chad Kroeger and such

Neverending....no doubt !!! Still high from this years fest , and already caught up in the buzz for 2013 !

It's way too early to be on your site, and look here I am. How am I going to surive 11 more months?!?!?!

My early Head predictions:
Jack White
Daft Punk
Rolling Stones

My early headliner predictions:
Phoenix
Nine Inch Nails
Daft Punk

booly said...

How To Destroy Angels are much more likely than Nine Inch Nails at this point.

Anonymous said...

What about Portishead Monk?

I know for a fact that the reason u will not see Daft at LA Uprising this summer is because they landed them for headliners next year. They are finally ready. They were going to have them at Uprising but its been talked about and they are going to have a new fall album so it all makes sense finally and is not BS wishful shit anymore.

Its gonna be:

DAFT PUNK
PHOENIX
ROLLING STONES (come on, why the FUCK is Mick hosting SNL tonight if they aren't FINALLY drumming up some press to around them so they can finally announce a 50th anniversary of the Stones tour?!).

If they cannot afford the Stones, they're backup option is:

EMINEM (he loooooooved doing Dre's set at the fest and they are bringing him an offer above just guesting on someone else's headliner slot)

...Monk, not sure why u are guessing Nine Inch Nails, they just did their final shows, why would they be brought out of retirement so fast? Not likely, what are u even basing this on? Just wishful thinking? Hoping your blog has enough heat on it to have rumors eventually become true cause you got the ball rolling on here?

If anything the Stones and Eminem will fall through and you will see someone classic inserted in there (Neil Young, Tom Petty, maybe Metallica finally).

Question, How come Bob Dylan is never really thrown around as an idea? Is it because he just doesn't put on a heavy show with visuals and doesn't really sound the same? anyone know? he did do Bonnaroo once as headliner...

@11:14 am: Even though your whole shpiel is full of shit, I will entertain your last question. Nobody considers Bob Dylan because he is dead awful live. Totally incomprehensible and a shell of what he used to be. It's a pity, but there it is.

and im only saying no to MBV because they will probably be billed in the same time slot they had in 09 and i dont want to stand through that again waiting for the headliner

It's PJ, daft and green day

Anonymous said...

"Overheard a conversation today. Deadmau5 on the mainstage..."

I overheard the same conversation, and you misunderstood. The dude said "Dead mouse on the gay's face."

Anonymous said...

The Rolling Stones will play Sunday.
Pearl Jam will play a night TBD.
Third has not been cemented yet.
Absolutely not Daft Punk.

Deadmau5 asked, not ready. Likely no main stage electronic act this year. Rest of Sahara will be booked closer to.

Dire Straits is the 80s reunion act that was alluded to on the boards. Only person to guess correctly was shot down.

Kylie Minogue
Jurassic 5 reunion
Mumford and Sons (first subheadliner of their day, apparently)
Sigur Ros

Not much more than that has been cemented. Everybody else is talking out of their ass.

David Burnout said...

Likely Deadmau5, but Skrillex is a definite.

No Doubt, Pearl Jam and Daft Punk.

Pearl Jam is never playing Coachella.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Sweet fuck no Rolling Stones. Spend the $10 mil on a bunch of great undercard bands and let Mick and the other fogeys piss off to the old folks home.

Anonymous said...

OC Register said Paul Tollett doesn't want Pearl Jam.

Anonymous said...

Show the link

Anonymous said...

It woul be great if massive attack returned... REAL great

Anonymous said...

Re: Paul Tollett and Pearl Jam, this is what was said in the OC Register:

"In years past, when Goldenvoice's chief organizer Paul Tollett and I have discussed why this band and that person have yet to play, he's always explained their absence away by worrying that having them headline would deliver a predominantly PJ crowd to Coachella, filling the field with people who just want to wait it out in upfront spots until the band hits the stage."

That rationale is no longer relevant, and since the festival sells a majority of the tickets before the lineup is even announced, there's no worry at all about having the fest filled with PJ fans camping on the rail. Coachella is far beyond worrying about that kind of problem, and Tollett doesn't have to even consider that with the way the festival is now.

Anonymous said...

True, but Pearl Jam fans getting to hump some rail is a concern for Pearl Jam. The band goes above and beyond for their fan club, so why play a fest their fans don't have a real chance of attending?

Anonymous said...

Lineup is out: ttp://img703.imageshack.us/img703/2180/2013e.jpg

Anonymous said...

Blur are confirmed.

Anonymous said...

Would Blur be a headliner at this point? I mean Gorillaz were. I dunno. I like blur way better, but maybe they'd just be top sub of their day? The fuckin Killers were headliners though for crying out loud.

Anonymous said...

Blur are not headliners. Barely known in the US and were never popular here. Sub-head a la Pulp.

Pearl Jam does do a lot for its fans, but claiming they would turn down a headlining spot at one of the biggest festivals in the world out of concern for their fans' ability to get tickets is just fucking stupid.

Anonymous said...

John Mayer, daft punk, the clash. They should drop all their money on trying to get pink Floyd. Impossible but I'd die happy

David Burnout said...

Pearl Jam is never happening. Sorry.

David Burnout said...

That fake poster has two reunions you'll never see at Coachella. Aphex Twin will not be returning.

Anonymous said...

^why would Aphex Twin never return? makes no sense

Anonymous said...

and what is the other reunion that would never happen? I am telling u guys, JAck White will be there

David Burnout said...

A combination of artist dissatisfaction with a prior appearance and fans not being of the target demographic.

Anonymous said...

I think they have two on lock and are waiting on the third headliner. Rolling Stones are just not likely - they just will not budge on their price. Even if it would be cool etc. Coachella will never, ever, pay artists what they paid Paul and Prince. They don't need to. Lolla on the other hand...

But I do think Beyonce is a huge possibility and Pearl Jam is totally not out of the question. Not to make a sweeping generalization but here goes: Coachella has two types of people to cater to - the people who seethe headliners, the reunion bands, and the bands that straddle the other crowd - the EDM crowd. Pearl Jam caters to the first kind like no other in a long time. Even Arcade Fire, Radiohead.

Anonymous said...

The Black Keys
Tiesto Queens of the Stone Age Foster the People Bassnectar Wu Tang Clan

Green Day
Deadmau5 Massive Attack Pitbull MGMT New Order

Rihanna
Skrillex Vampire Weekend Grizzly Bear Afrojack Metric

Anonymous said...

^^ dude, this makes no sense:

" Not to make a sweeping generalization but here goes: Coachella has two types of people to cater to - the people who seethe headliners, the reunion bands, and the bands that straddle the other crowd - the EDM crowd. Pearl Jam caters to the first kind like no other in a long time. Even Arcade Fire, Radiohead."

I think what ever u were trying to say just didn't come through. What are u saying? u make it seem like u are trying to say there are two types of people that Coachella needs to please, but then you don't list two kinds of people. are u saying that the first type of person hates headliners AND reunion bands? Huh? the people that hate headliners are the ones that LOVE the reunion bands, right? so how is the first type the people that hate both? I don't get it.

Then u say the other crowd is the dance crowd? that makes sense, that 2nd part i guess....but then u go on to say that Pearl Jam fits the crowd that hates headliners and reunion bands and does so better than RAdiohead and Arcade Fire? I just dont get what u are saying, i am not even trying to be rude here or me smarmy, so please excuse if u think my tone is off, i honestly am trying to make sense of what u are saying. please explain

Anonymous said...

Jack White
Daft Punk
Coldplay

there it is...

Anonymous said...

9:12
Sorry was trying to say Coachella tries to please two types of crowd (FOR THE MOST PART). The EDM crowd that is moderately interested in the headliners, but certainly that's not why they are "at" Coachella. These people probably saw 1/2 Radiohead last year - all of Dr. Dre, none of Black Keys. This crowd is unique to Coachella, are not so much a mainstay at Roo, and I have no idea what Lolla is other than hot and crowded.

The other crowd which pretty much surfs between mainstage and outdoor theater. This crowd is there for the headliners, the reunion bands (Pulp, My Blood Valentine), and the occasional crossover band that even the EDM crowd likes (M83 etc.). For that crowd Pearl Jam is the ultimate get and therefore they are in the realm of possibility for Coachella. Rolling Stones are not because of price.

Anonymous said...

The clash anyone? It fits reunion and headliner. If anyone could do it it's coachella. The guitarist and bass player played with the gorillaz in 2010 and might put in a good word. It would be awesome though, just saying....

Anonymous said...

Joe Strummer hologram? Fuck no.

Anonymous said...

the Killers
NIN/Tool
Muse/Daft Punk

the killers for sure and you can probably pick one or the other for the second two days. Also Rage Against the Machine is a possible headliner since they have a new album out next year too.

Anonymous said...

Whoever made up the "two crowds" argument...the Sahara has always been a focus of the festival, but it has not been as consistently packed with big names since 2010, when the EDM popularity wave began to rise in California. Ever since then, the overall quality of the Sahara has been on a steep decline, ending with last year's shit show of a Sahara...how many times do you really need to hear Levels and Save the World Tonight in a week?

In fact, most people who love the EDM that graced the festival prior to 2009 are jumping ship to the Mojave, if not to another festival.

Anonymous said...

That post at 3:18 putting The Killers as a headliner is HILARIOUS.

Haven't had a hit album in 7 years, can barely sell out a high school prom, and are considered one of the biggest flops in Coachella history....yeah, they'll be back.

Keep the jokes coming dipshit!

How anyone thinks drake is a headliner is BEYOND me.... Would never happen

Anonymous said...

If Coachella scrapes the bottom of the barrel with Drake, you'll see a wave of people unloading their tickets on ebay.

And Daft Punk won't be ready by April. Their album won't be out until the end of the year, and 4 months is not enough to put together a new live show.

The people that like Blur still come and they are the same people who caught the 2nd best set of the weekend last year at Kasabian. That show was fucking rukus, and everyone there was fuckin laid back and went nuts the entire show, check a youtube clip if you don't believe me. The original group of Coachella goers still go and there are enough unique acts to keep us coming. In fact, I loved it this year that all the douches congregated in the saharra for influential and game changing acts like, Zed's Dead, Guetta, an Avicci, it kept the good shows less crowded.
