Missy no esta una headliner.

Sub at besto.

Anonymous said...

how about Blur? headliner?

Anonymous said...

Muse has gaps both weekends

Anonymous said...

Weekend 1 they will have a contest with The Killers to see who can make Freddie Mercury spin in his grave the fastest. Second weekend they collab with Skrillex and Korn for the biggest drop ever!!

Anonymous said...

@ 7:14 - Just barely. They're on the east coast the Mondays after both weekends. That affectively rules them out.

Anonymous said...

Blur got a little more likely. 1st sub.

Oh you know Blur will be there now. You just know it.

Rammstein is playing.

Little Birdy said...

I know things. In 2013, Coachella will boast the finest lineup in its history. The extravaganza being planned will blow your tiny little minds to pieces. Sunday night will make worldwide news...again.

Little Birdy said...

Here's a few of those things. Blur, Stone Roses, The Replacements, Slowdive and Cibo Matto are all appearing. Wilco and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are returning. Daft Punk is developing a show that will make the pyramid look low budget if all goes according to plan. Mumford & Sons are headlining, and Skrillex will be bringing out all his friends along with a new production and special pyro for his main stage closing sets. The third headliner? It's not the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Think way bigger. The whole world will be watching.

Anonymous said...

^ The Smiths. LOL yeah right they aren't reuniting, shows what you know.

Anonymous said...

I hope GV realizes that nobody in the US cares about the Stone Roses or Blur. We already saw Pulp last year. Quit signing up British bands that never had two songs on the radio here.

Anonymous said...

Little Birdy is probably full of crap, but if accurate, then outside of Daft Punk, the only other good news is that RHCP are out.

Blur - boring brit crap
Stone Roses - see above
The Replacements - see above
Slowdive - don't care
Cibo Matto - crap
Wilco - shit
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - meh
Mumford & Sons - boring american crap
Skrillex - brotastic

definitely not the finest lineup in history unless you're into shitty britpop and boring-ass mumford.

Anonymous said...

Amen to 122pm. Have no idea why GV keeps booking washed up britpoppers like they're relevant.

Anything involving the bitch-ass Gallagher Brothers/Blur/Pulp/Stone Roses/etc....FUCK OFF BACK TO YOUR ISLAND. No one in the states gave a fuck about you when you were "popular" back in the 90s, and even fewer give a fuck now.

Keep those poseur cunts in the UK where they belong.

Anonymous said...

@134 you're a fucking retard. Die of cocks.

Vitalic said...

I'll be there.

LockNes said...

If you guys don't like Blur, stone roses, or "crappy brit bands" That are today still hugely influential, why don't you go back to school. You people are fuckin idiots.
Also, the other headliner that is not RHCP is The Rolling Stones...hope you are all pissed about another "shite Brit band."
Go to fuckin Ultra you rave-whores or go to Lolla if you want pop music.

LockNes said...

^^ If you are gonna bitch, also be accurate, Mumford and Sons are from England.
Amateurs

Spill The Beans said...

yo Little Birdy....

who is thrid headliner?

The Rolling Stones?
The Smiths?
Talking Heads?
Bowie?

i cant think of anyone else that the "whole world" would be watching....

Anonymous said...

Influential on what? Fucking One Direction?

Anonymous said...

@138pm, let me guess: You jizz your pants every time Liam calls Noel a twat or Jarvis pulls his pants down onstage in front of kids.

Poseur cunts that had a month of success in the states 15 fucking years ago, and have been rightfully ignored since then.

Piss off to where NME still cares and pretends like you've made any music in the last decade that isn't shite.

Anonymous said...

When did the word "poseur" come back into fashion?

Anonymous said...

The world would be a better place if 1:22, 1:29, 1:34, 2:53 killed himself.

Anonymous said...

Fuck Blur, bring back MGMT.

Anonymous said...

MGMT is one of the worst live acts i have ever seen.

Anonymous said...

I'm the guy from the last page who knew one of the headliners, made fun of the lawyer story, and pooh-poohed Daft Punk showing up.

I was skeptical on the last page, but can now say that one person in this thread has called at least the headliners correctly. I'm as surprised as you are, or will be.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and pay no attention to people who know things.

Anonymous said...

2:53 is a huge fan of Pitbull.

Anonymous said...

@836am, thanks for that riveting piece of information that has absolutely zero value.

It's the equivalent of saying "Out of all the words said on ESPN in the last month, someone mentioned the name of the winner of the World Series."

We have a very simple test for people who pretend to know information: post the total number of words and letters for all three headliners combined. Will be easy to check later on, and there are enough combinations that you won't reveal anything you're pretending you can't.

Put up or shut up.

Anonymous said...

Just spill the beans blind item style.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, tests and lazy people don't interest me.

Search and you may find.

Anonymous said...

"Sorry, tests and lazy people don't interest me."

Translation: I DON'T KNOW SHIT.

Anonymous said...

Hey youguise, I'm like a music biz insider and stuff. I like, know lots of stuff that you don't know.

I'm like real important and stuff so I can't tell you what I know or I might get fired or something, but let me give you a really good hint that should establish my creditibility and differentiate me from all the other peons who aren't real smart like me:

Somewhere in this thread, among the hundreds of guesses and different combinations that a thousand dipshits have put forth, LIES THE REAL HEADLINERS!

See, I like gave you all you need to know cuz I knows like all the answers and stuff, and now it's yer job to just like search for it and stuff. I know that every possible headliner has been mentioned so what I'm telling you may seem fucking retarded and worthless, but you guise just trust me, cuz I really know some stuff, but I just can't legitimately give you any evidence that I do, but no seriously I know stuff.

Signed,

Douche McDumbfuck

Anonymous said...

I know the headliners. Seriously, I do.

If you look at your keyboard, the letters that make up their names are all right in front of you. All you have to do is search for them and put them in the right order.

Your welcome.

Anonymous said...

Dear 1:12,

It's hilarious that you typed all that out.

Signed,
10:04 (guy who knows the headliners)

Anonymous said...

"If you look at your keyboard, the letters that make up their names are all right in front of you"

That is true. You might be surprised, however, at how few of them you need.

Anonymous said...

U2
ACDC
Rush

Anonymous said...

QOTSA -------> Muse (FACT)

Anonymous said...

@ little birdy, i was wondering if the huge headliner on sunday could be either Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Bowie, Pink floyd? Or a mixture of a couple of those acts? pretty sure the whole world would be watching if that happened.

Anonymous said...

Do you always show this interest in fiction?

Anonymous said...

The entire planet won't be watching. It will only be a percentage of music fans who would have been watching regardless of the headliner.

The whole world doesn't even have electricity yet. Get real.

Anonymous said...

Muse is a terrible band. (FACT)

Anonymous said...

I gotta say I love all the "insiders" that post here. They're like TV evangelists trying to convince everyone that they have all the answers.

When anyone questions where they get their information or gives them a reasonable way to back up what they claim they know, the answer is always "God is whispering in my ear, just trust me."

Pathetic bullshitters looking for attention from people desperate for any crumb of information.

Anonymous said...

@7:48, don't be so literal.

Anonymous said...

So does anyone think that Blur can headline? maybe Friday night?

Anonymous said...

They'll get a 10 song set before Mumford & Sons and the mainstage EDM act, nothing more.

Anonymous said...

someone please explain why mumford and sons is even in the mix for possible headliners? wouldn't they have to play both albums in their entirety to fill a 2 1/2 hour headline set?

Anonymous said...

Mumford and Sons are in the mix because a bunch of idiots think "folk rock" is all the rage.

The Bon Iver crowd will eat them up.

Anonymous said...

Why do drunk/retarded (both?) Brits keep stumbling upon Monklish and spamming the comments section with stupid questions about Blur?

How would you blokes like it if we invaded NME and kept asking if Creed might headline Glastonbury?

Anonymous said...

@349
U like Creed?

Anonymous said...

News Flash: this blog and all it's contributors are useless sacks of shit

Anonymous said...

I gotta say I love all the people here who want to do dental work on gift posts, insisting that no "insider" would ever post here, and yet keep returning for some reason they don't explain.

One person has already posted the headliners in this thread. They didn't claim any inside information. I am, however, claiming inside information to inform you of this fact.

I won't tell you the "number of letters," not now at least, but I will tell you that it's at least 30 (and I choose that number because it allows for a number of possibilities).

I'm sure that many will feel more superior, and therefore better, by regarding this as "pathetic bullshit" rather than as useful information (which would require them to acknowledge that someone else knows something they don't, but won't tell it all to them), and so will act accordingly.

Anonymous said...

if Gorillaz can headline, Blur can absobloodylootely headline. the entire crowd singing along to Tender will be bloody wicked!

Anonymous said...

Mumford & Sons
Tool
Watch the Throne

Anonymous said...

so because munford and sons are the flavor of the month they deserve to headline? cause they have earned that, right? they totally deserve to headline the number one festival in the world. and as much as people try to hate on some of the previous headliners like jack johnson, the killers, the kings of leon, kanye west, and the black keys; im pretty sure they all had atleast 4 albums out and had played the festival multiple times before. or in kanye west's case he had already headlined lollapalooza.

Anonymous said...

btw i tried posting this a few times earlier but cuntface monklish kept deleting it. hey monk this is a forum not a dictatorship go fuck yourself if you dont like my opinion or points im trying to make. bitch

Anonymous said...

Wrong @10:10. Gorillaz had numerous big hits in the US, a couple big albums, and loads of MTV/radio exposure. They were well known and extremely popular (before they crapped the bed with Plastic Beach and a snoozefest headlining slot in 2010).

Blur had little of that in the 90s and ZERO of that in the last decade. They're not even close to Gorillaz in terms of name recognition in the states.

And NOBODY fucking knows Tender in the US. The "entire crowd" singing along will be about 300 Brits, while 75,000 other people are at the Outdoor and Sahara because they don't give a fuck about Blur.

Anonymous said...

Hey 814p, your first mistake is in assuming your posts are a "gift."

A gift implies value. You've given nothing of value yet, and until you do, you're going to get laughed at and brushed aside as you well deserve.

You're not the first peddler to tease vauge and useless information while claiming inside sources, and you won't be the last.

Anonymous said...

Blur isn't mainstream in America, therefore they don't have a single fan in America.

Anonymous said...

"A gift implies value. You've given nothing of value yet, and until you do, you're going to get laughed at and brushed aside as you well deserve."

I guess a model airplane kit has no value because you have to put it together. That's true, really, for those who are lazy and/or less bright.

Notice how no "insiders" have shown up here to say I'm full of shit, only people who don't actually know anything?

Anonymous said...

Watch the Throne 2 - I'm not sure that album/tour is ever going to happen. I'd certainly be interested if anyone knows otherwise, but for now I'd dismiss them as a possibility...

Anonymous said...

Blur is at least as big as Portishead, and they headlined until Prince was added.

Anonymous said...

"I guess a model airplane kit has no value because you have to put it together."

Poor analogy. Your contribution here is equivalent to you pointing at a tree and saying there's a model airplane there.

"Notice how no "insiders" have shown up here to say I'm full of shit, only people who don't actually know anything?"

Everyone here is anonymous. Giving yourself the title of "insider" means absolutely ZERO, and claiming that no other fake "insiders" have contradicted you means even less, because ANYONE with an internet connection can claim to be an insider, and all kinds of people who know squat regularly do so. Do you not comprehend the structure of a completely anonymous forum?

The only credibility people have here is in the information they can provide, and usually that can't be verified until January. Your information ("somewhere in this thread of 460+ posts and over 30 letters") still leaves dozens and dozens of possibilities open, which makes it worthless.

Stating the exact number of letters would pin you down enough that you couldn't change your "inside info" later, and that's exactly why you won't do it. Because you DON'T KNOW SHIT.

Anonymous said...

Why can't we just talk about the bands? You guys all complain too much! This is a message board. It's pretty damn easy to weed out the idiots so just ignore them and move along!

Now, who do we think from Lollapalooza chile and brazil will play coachella, since these festivals come 2-3 weeks before.

Anonymous said...

hahaha, the insider dude got all flustered and clammed up when he got called out on his bullshit.

bring names or shut up.

Anonymous said...

"Stating the exact number of letters would pin you down enough that you couldn't change your "inside info" later, and that's exactly why you won't do it. Because you DON'T KNOW SHIT."

Actually, because it's as good as telling you who's playing. Which I'm not going to do either. Nor will I shut up. Nor can you do anything about that.

Anonymous said...

So I'd advise not getting so mad about it.

Anonymous said...

Nope. Unless it's a combination of 3 headliners with an extremely inordinate number of letters/words, there are still numerous combinations it could be. And given that there are a good 15-20 bands that are possible as headliners with plenty of crossover in name lengths, giving the exact number of total letters still provides a variety of combinations and would not definitively give them away. You know this, and so does everyone else, which is why it's the perfect test to separate trolls from truth.

You have a safe, foolproof way of establishing credibility, and you run away from that opportunity because you know it will expose you as the bullshitter you are.

And who's mad? I'm laughing my ass off at you twisting yourself in knots trying to convince everyone here that you know shit, when it's obvious to all that you don't.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Tool - drops double album on Mayan date. They will be there. I was told Muse and Daft Punk at the other 2 headliners, but I'm also hearing some Rage Against the Machine rumors as of late. Tools a done deal and their set will be grander than any set on the polo grounds previously. Write it down, take a picture. TOOL

Anonymous said...

Would love to see Tool there, but the days of grand sets from them are 15 years in the rearview mirror.

Anonymous said...

Muse - nope, too soon after 2010, plus they have Staples on the tour schedule in January. With the setlists they're playing now it would be basically the same show as 2010 with like 5 new songs.

Rage - possible but unlikely. Definitely need new material to pull it off. Don't think GV would book them to play the same 2010 LA Rising set. Would be a fantastic surprise if they headlined with a new album though.

Daft Punk - solid chance with all the Euro Festival rumors.

Anonymous said...

@9:28. Hah, obviously haven't seen Tool recently. Top-notch shows for the last 5 years brah!!

Anonymous said...

too bad it's been the exact same "top notch" show since 2006.

Anonymous said...

Anyone that thinks the Tool shows in the last decade have been "top notch," never actually saw them between 93-98.

Anonymous said...

Tool/Rage/Daft Punk/Muse...all not going to be there...try again.

Golden Voice typically has to spend a little less one evening to sign someone huge.
Jack Johnson to get Dark Side and Prince. The Killers to get Sir Paul.

Mumford is an act that will have a large draw (whether you like it or not) and sell tickets and be easy on the pocket book. Allowing them to pay The Stones, Blur, Daft Punk, etc. (Examples)

It's gonna be a good year!

Anonymous said...

i really dont want to believe mumford & sons would headline but that honestly could be true. 6:25 makes a point. But then who on this list above could be swapped for mumford?

Anonymous said...

there is no band more due to play Coachella than Pearl Jam, especially considering their role in establishing the polo fields as a venue in 1993. I think they are extremely likely.

Now about the Rolling Stones people....

I realize it would make a lot of sense to many of you that the logic would seem that since the recent press release on The Stones says that they are doing two in London, two in NY and then.... hmmm, u are all thinking two in LA after that in the not too far future, AND that those "two in LA" would be at Coachella, right?? ..... um, yeah... NO.

The Stones are getting 25 mil to do those 4 shows.
This means they are NOT doing Coachella I bet. Coachella would not pay someone that much anymore. They do not have to.

They spent a little less on the Keys last year so they could get Radiohead and they got all the hip hop guys at a STEAL as they all did it as a favor to the man that made them (Dre).

So expect similar formats in yrs to come.

Like a good guess for next year would be:

FIRST HEADLINER = Spend a small amount on a flavor of the past few yrs trendy band with Grammy appeal (ala Arcade Fire) on say Mumford and Sons or Phoenix (or maybe co-headlining them, u never know) ...

SECOND HEADLINER = ... SO that they can then spend a decent amount on band that numerous generations care about who also seem to have an album coming out (ala Radiohead) on say Pearl Jam or Rage or TOOL, so then...

THIRD HEADLINER = ... I would expect the third to follow either the hip hop trend (ala Jay-Z in '10, Kanye in '11, Dre/Snoop in '12) and go for say Eminem or maybe even Watch The Throne (doubt it though since both Ye and Jigga JUST did it way too recently for that to be exciting and another album is not that confirmed) -OR- maybe they will go back to the "classic well" to get something that isn't quite as expensive as Sir Paul or Prince or Roger Waters doing a huge production and maybe they'll just grab The Who (might be cheap as its just two of them left at this point and it's not a fancy rig for the tour I hear) or maybe Tom Petty (the Heartbreakers were specifically asked to come and see the Coachella two yrs back and were hanging around backstage) or maybe the third would just be Green Day (who are both contemporary and kind of retro-y all at once & they have three albums coming out right now).

Think about it. The last time headliners were grossly overpaid was Sir Paul in '09 and of course when they came to Prince with their dick in their hand in '08, but if u look at every year since then, everyone that has headlined has been quite contemporary/current (Kanye, Arcade Fire, Jay-Z, Muse) and in some cases it has been an honor for the band to get the chance to headline the world's biggest festival (The Killers, Gorillaz, etc.).

The fest SELLS OUT almost entirely WITHOUT a lineup and in the last few yrs NO one has shown any disappointment that they have stopped trying to get rare and interesting "gets" for headliners (Depeche Mode, Rage reunion, Bjork, cause the fucker just KEEPS selling out AHEAD OF TIME and the same fuckers are coming every year. Trust me, I see them, there are regulars.

(Cont. on next post)...

Knowledge is POWER said...

.... (Cont., this is part two).

They really have stopped for that "ultimate get", think about it. In 2010 they had the Kings Of Leon (nooooo one in the early yrs of Chella would have cared about this band headlining and it would have been a huge fail, but now they focus on a really young EDM crowd who are part of the iTunes/Facebook generation, and these kids could care less about Pavement reunions, whether or not Sly and The Family Stone can pull a one-off show together or how important The Pixies are (shit, they probably think of Black Francis's band as that "one band that debuted a song on the Fight Club soundtrack, haaaa). And unfortunately these kids DO care about KOL and well, No Doubt and Green Day and to them Bush would be a better get than say, Soundgarden. I could see more Lollapolooza acts heading toward Coachella. I mean the Sahara scene was sell-out central this year, and you cannot deny that. Way too much Kaskade and Calvin Harris and not enough Basement Jaxx and Underworld.

Why pay for Daft, when you can get Skrillex at a much better steal and these kid think he is Elvis anyway!

GV will never pay for The Smiths, a Pink Floyd reunion, a Led Zeppelin reunion, or a GNR with Slash and Axyl. They just do not have to. Now if a company like Live Nation or someone tries to compete one day, sure they make a splash the first few yrs out of the gate, the way Coachella once NEEDED to in order to get some attention ... but pay up the ass for a big act now?? GV does not need to. Period.

The one act that Paul would over-pay for is Bowie, but we all know health-wise that we probably saw the last of The Man Who Fell To Earth on his last tour. No need to go out for a cash grab and nothing to prove, so do not count on him ever going out again the way he used to. Trust me.

I work at a social media place on the east coast. I have a pal that comes to my office every day. I finally bothered him as to why he has been sp happy lately and he said the Beastie Boys are doing one final show both Sundays of Coachella and that there will be about a half dozen rappers filling in for MCA (everyone from Eminem to Nas to Kid Rock to Q-Tip to The Roots).

This would make sense, as someone said the whole world would be tuning in on Sunday night....

NO hoogram they said, but once in a while there would be footage on the screen of MCA filling in for himself.

This guy is related to MCA's wife that MCA left behind, so I am taking this one to the bank!!!

BOOM!

Pumped...

I hope that is true, might as well add Run DMC while they are at it.

I don't believe that the surviving Beaastie Boys would ever do a show without Yauch no matter how many special guests.

"I work at a social media place on the east coast. I have a pal that comes to my office every day. I finally bothered him as to why he has been sp happy lately"

This is the best (i.e. weakest) setup for an "inside source" I have ever heard.

"Think about it. The last time headliners were grossly overpaid was Sir Paul in '09 and of course when they came to Prince with their dick in their hand in '08, but if u look at every year since then, everyone that has headlined has been quite contemporary/current (Kanye, Arcade Fire, Jay-Z, Muse) and in some cases it has been an honor for the band to get the chance to headline the world's biggest festival (The Killers, Gorillaz, etc.)."
Radiohead: $4 million
Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg: $4 million
The Black Keys: $2 million
Swedish House Mafia: $2 million
At the Drive-in: $1 million
Pulp: $1 million

I like that you think you know how much artists are getting paid. Bumblebee?

Suprefan is a gigantic boardie douche that gets his rocks off trying to convince everyone that he's Monklish.

He's not.

The "insider" information he claims to have always comes after another source reveals it. Take the recent Atoms for Peace rumor as exhibit A. Not a word out of supredouche about it until after someone else posts it first, and then he jumps on, rides coattails and pretends like he "had a conversation" with Nigel Goodrich about the same thing.

Poseur douchebag that everyone hates. Case closed.

Pearl jam and daft punk and Mumford/Phoenix

i am beyond serious that this is confirmed

Where is this Atom for peace claim coming from?

Read the comments. Claim that Nigel said AFP would be doing some festivals around April.

Depeche Mode is out. Doesn't make any sense for them to kick off at Coachella for 2 shows in April, and then haul their asses over to Europe at the beginning of May.

Pearl Jam is out, per a source at their label.
