I am going to post this THREE TIMES, in hopes that you guys see that I am not messing around. Just call me, "Fig Knewton", because 3rd wk of January when this shit is announced, you will see that I "knew" what was up.

Your headliners are:
ARCADE FIRE
OUTKAST
and believe it or not MUSE

I am not kidding, guessing, I have nothing to gain from you believing me and I can promise you this is the headliners.

I have proof on all of these btw. Believe me or do not.

It all makes sense anyway. Coachella always has one weak booking (ala The Killers in 09, Kings Of Leon in 11, Black Keys in 12, oh and pretty much EVERYONE that headlined in 13 like the Peppers and Stone Roses) so that explains the tired and 'here we go again' booking of Muse. Every year there is some band where you just go, "really? Okay, they're 'good' but do we need THEM again?" Muse fills that booking this year.

Arcade Fire is just going to be there. They are. Deal with it. They are homegrown in the sense that they have been there every year they have had an album and they are hot as all hell right now due to the new double disc. They are THE quintessential Coachella band. Indie, foreign, very productive, just mainstream enough for the OC and Riverside crowds to know who they are and buy up tickets and they are award winners. Now, all that is great reason to guess that they will be there, but again, none of my guesses are guesses. I know. I know for a fact that QOTSA wanted to headline but ended up on the same day as Muse when the decisions came down to the wire and Muse ain't gonna share a headline bill after already solo headlining that shit in '10, oh and also Muse is a shit ton bigger than QOTSA. Queens will sub-headline that day and Muse will close it. Just watch.

And that leads me to Outkast. I know for fact thru family members of Big Boi that they are doing Coachella. Oh and stop calling it a reunion. These guys never broke up. They just have not played in a long time. Reunions are for bands that broke up. they just both signed longer than expected solo contracts and both those things are up now. So they are going to play for the first time at Coachella and then kick off a summer tour and they will be in Europe at the main fests and Bonnaroo as well....

I, for one, am excited about Outkast. I am not excited about Muse and throw it in that category of "you could've gotten Daft Punk, Tom Petty, TOOL, NIN, Pearl Jam, Eminem or Paul McCartney again and you got THEM?!?!"

Buuuuut, I am no longer having pie-in-the-sky-dreams about Coachella for acts that I would jerk off on public about, cause they are NO longer trying to get MY type and MY demographic (I am mid thirties male, and Coachella is like MTV now, they do NOT care about us ole dudes anymore and their demo now is young girls, so expect the classic slots of year's past that once had greats like Prince and Roger Waters and RATM in them to now have acts that are classic to these little girls like Green Day and Blink 182 and No Doubt...ugh).

They will not spend money on these acts that you all start fucking rumors about every single year (as if Paul Tollet just comes on these boards saying to himself, "hmmm what do the PEOPLE want?!") HAAAAA.

NO. They do not NEED to spend dough like that, cause this shit nearly sells out BEFORE THERE IS EVEN A FUCKING LINEUP!!!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW INSANE THAT IS?? It is a vacation destination at this point. Like Vegas for New Year's or Lake Havasu for spring break or Mammoth for MLK weekend or etc. People just wanna BE there, regardless of the lineup. Fact. It is candy flipping kiddies now that just wanna "have fun maaaaaan."

Fig Knewton said...

.... (cont.)

When something sells out easily, you do not chase down Prince with 5 million to help your festival make sure it will sell out cause people do not really know about your festival and its treasure of fun quite yet (and there is plenty of treasure at this great festival, I still go even though it treats my type like a red-headed step-child these days).

So stop holding your breath for the Bowie booking you all crave or for the Talking Heads reunion you think he can pull out of his ass but never will or for the one booking that I wish they would just get so that you all would see it would be a let-down to their last time there as they could NEVER ever top it (especially with that last album, which is such a left turn for them and would not fill the mainstage (where they would unfortunately play now due to their fame now) with the same spirit and attitude that their last album filled the Sahara Tent with (if you were not there, well then I feel bad for you son, cause I got 99 problems but missing that fucking set that single-handedly changed EDM forever AIN'T ONE!!!!). Oh and don't make up other rumors like an Oasis reunion or a Velvet Underground reunion or the full lineup of the Beach Boys.

If I could book Coachella this year, it would have Outkast but also Pearl Jam and Tom Petty. T The first cause I just think Outkast will be a fucking dance party. PJ cause they just would play their hearts out in the desert and it is because of them that Coachella even happens as it was their idea first to play that damn polo field. But Petty would be because we need to still represent classic rock (something they just ditched in 09 after Sir Paul played, it is time to bring it back while we still even HAVE these people). And all I can think of is Tom for now. I mean we still have Neil Young (but he is a little Outside Lands-y or Bonnaroo-y for Chella and we still have half of The Who (but again that is just half and might not be worth it). And we have The Boss and Paul (but I think it is too soon for Paul again really and I don't even want him to try and outdo what he did, cause it would fail like a Daft rebooking would). So it just makes me want Tom and the Heartbreakers. I, for one, would love love love to watch everyone sing Learning To Fly in the desert at night on Sunday. Hell to the yeah...

But, welcome to the new age... I would expect classic acts that ain't that classic to guys like me, EDM acts that will never be as good as Underworld or Chemical Bros have on that field and indie acts that just aren't headliners (Phoenix).

Oh and Deadmau5 will not be there despite the fact that his tour is going to blow minds.

That is all I have.

You have three times to read this shit. Cause I am posting it, well, three fucking times. Get it in your tick rumor-filled heads. I am right!

"Oh and don't make up other rumors like an Oasis reunion or a Velvet Underground reunion or the full lineup of the Beach Boys."

Nobody is making up such a rumor now that Lou Reed is dead, you long-winded faggot.

Anonymous said...

Pretty obvious headliners.

However, if Coachella is being programmed for 19 year old girls, then please explain least year's headliners Blur and Stone Roses?

If your source is Big Boi's family, why would they know Queens of the Stone Age wanted to headline?

If you're in your mid-30s, you should probably find a new hobby. Trolling this board is kinda sad, don't you think?

Anonymous said...

If Arcade Fire and OUtkast jeadline then I could give a shit who the third headliner is...Fuckin Fig Knewton could headline and I would be happy...

So you COULD give a shit who headlines? Funny how one incorrectly used word contradicts the rest of your statement.
