Well said 317. Let's hope we get them this year!

Anonymous said...

@319 my client is only playing weekend 2.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Coldplay
Radiohead

I'm satisfied with this.

Anonymous said...

lol to Tool not headlining. Seriously that's just a dumb thing to say. I could see them having a DJ close the stage after Tool though.

Seriously though, if it was Tool and Radiohead I couldn't even give a shit who the third headliner was. Make it Foo Fighters or Lady Gaga for all I care, I usually hope there's at least 1 headliner I don't want to see.

And at 1136, if you think your choices are see the headliner or chill in the Beer Garden you clearly do not understand Coachella.

I'm much less worried about Headliners than the shape of the undercard...many of the top indie and soul acts of last two years I was most hoping to see on this year's lineup seem to not be materializing...Antlers, Wild Beasts, Tuneyards, Destroyer, Charles Bradley, The War on Drugs,Yuck,Janelle Monae, Women, The Fresh And Onlys, Avi Buffalo, Sufjan Stevens, Kurt Vile...Poppier side of electronic lineup - with Caribou, Four Tet, Metronomy and Gold Panda looks awesome though.

Anonymous said...

Sigur Ros will open for Radiohead and it will be amazing.

Coincidentally, they each such ass.

The Beach Boys announced a reunion tour. Seems like a possibility. First announced stop is NO Jazz Fest 4/27, a week after Coachella.

he will be there.

Anonymous said...

New Order will probably play the Duran Duran slot. Not headlining.

Anonymous said...

The Beach Boys > Tom Petty, and it isn't even close.

But I don't know about a Beach Boys live show now-a-days, even with Brian. They wouldn't headline but I could see them doing the outdoor or something.

Anonymous said...

I heard there will be an abortion tent

Only if the Beach Boys were to play Pet Sounds in its entirety would they actually be booked for a festival like Coachella.

No way GV would allow them to Kokomo their way through the set.

Anonymous said...

Coldplay has to be out unless they close both weekends...because for weekend two they have dates on the first and second days. damn im sad

@556
Technically they wouldn't have to close weekend one. They could do Friday weekend one and Sunday Weekend 2, or so.

Still, that has to be a major blow to their chances. As if the tourdates and HWood bowl dates weren't enough.

Anonymous said...

Beach Boys don't have to play Pet Sounds in its entirety. They have plenty of hits. There's no reason Sly Stone can play Coachella and the Beach Boys can't. The Beach Boys are arguably one of the top 5 most influential bands of all time.

Has to be the weakest undercard in years. Where are the big reunions this year? Last year Suede and Big Audio Dynamite were two of the best sets I ever saw at Coachella, and Suede did not play another U.S. show, and still hasn't. That is why Coachella was so special..now we get this drek.

And that's ignoring the fact that we have 0 confirmations as of now so we don't know the undercard at all.

Ugh...

Anonymous said...

Waters and Radiohead at Coachella. Best chella evar!

Anonymous said...

Waters is playing a STADIUM for a COMPETING promoter. Further, the show isn't even close to selling out. There's no way that Live Nation is going to lose more ticket sales due to a Coachella appearance.

Anonymous said...

Hey idiots, if you stop and think for about half a second at how long The Wall stage takes to set up, you'd know that it won't be at Coachella. Conversation over.

Anonymous said...

*gasp*

Anonymous said...

The fact that any of you think that Roger Waters will be playing after he headlined 4 years ago makes me legitimately sad how moronic most of you people truly are.

Anonymous said...

Anon @ 11:13

Many different conversations have conveyed that Coachella is 70% sold out after only one week of pre-sales in June. Last I checked, that's rather close to selling out.

It's a destination, it will sell out within a week once the lineup is announced and passes go on sale in January. Pick a weekend, go to both, whatever. Just enjoy the experience.

Anonymous said...

Waters isn't playing but its not because he played in 08. If Bjork can play 02 and the Chili Peppers can play 03 and they both can play 07 together Waters can play this year.

He's not playing because the Wall wouldn't work there. Nobody would complain if Waters played every 4 years.

And oh yea, U2s 360 tour doesn't work for festivals either, but they did Glasto. Muse/Coldplay/etc don't use their regular setups at festivals. There's ways around this if they had 2 years to think of a way to do this they could make it work.

Any chance that My Morning Jacket is a headliner? Everybody seemed to support this idea months and months ago, but now that they are being heavily rumored everybody thinks Monk only has one headliner (Radiohead). Also, on the boards everybody is set on Radiohead and Bjork (some argue Coldplay even though tour dates rule them out), but not one person has posited that MMJ might be #3.

Anonymous said...

Id be down for a MMJ headlining set on Friday night. A 3 hour rock set would be a great start to Coachella.

Pearl Jam is possible, but as discussed probably more likely for 2013. They played the first concert ever at the polo fields in 1993.

Anonymous said...

>7:13 You are a moron. British bands are heads above most American bands, and last year's Big Audio Dynamite and Suede reunions were two of the best shows I ever saw at Coachella. Have you ever seen Kasabian, The Stone Roses or Coldplay? And Radiohead is not as good as ANY of the aforementioned bands except Coldplay. But if you would not want to see any of these bands than you won't listen anyway.

Anonymous said...

@7:13

You are a complete retard.

sbjungle said...

@7:35 ok, I'll go ahead & pretend that you didn't just say all those bands are better than Radiohead. what a joke...the only one you mentioned that is even in the same realm of quality is the Stone Roses. get a clue, buddy. I will agree that British Bands dominate American bands by far though, and that's coming from an American.

I personally put Floyd, Zeppelin, Beatles, & Radiohead as the best bands of all time (probably in that order too)...all Brits.

Anonymous said...

@7:13 AM:
You are a fucking idiot. Pulp are legends. And they put on one HELL of a live performance. In fact, MOST British bands are miles above live American bands. You deserve to be crucified on a scalding hot block of metal.

@7:35 AM:
In your efforts to correct the idiocy of @7:13, you simultaneously proved your stupidity as well. Radiohead is one of the best live bands of ALL times. Why do you think that they're one of the most sought after bands for Coachella? EXACTLY. As good as Stone Roses, etc. are they aren't Radiohead. Check your shit.

Anonymous said...

713 is spot on. Modern British rock is niche stuff that needs to stay on the island. Rest of the world doesn't care about it, nor should they.

Last time Damon Albarn was at the polo fields, he stunk it up with Gorillaz. Completely overrated along with Gallagher shite arena bro rock.

Anonymous said...

OUTKAST...it's happening

Anonymous said...

"Rest of the world doesn't care about it, nor should they."

You're either trolling or completely retarded.

Probably both.

Anonymous said...

@1220, right, which is why Pulp put on that massive world tour and sold out stadiums on every continent.

Oh sorry bitch, that never happened. Thanks for playing.

Anonymous said...

I actually like Pulp but come on, their popularity radius is about 500 miles from London. They'll perform at a bunch of Euro festivals and that's it. Watch them play in the states and they'd be opening for Foster the People if they're lucky.

Common People may get the blokes in England all horny, but your average punter in Tokyo, Rio, or LA doesn't give a fuck about Jarvis.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, if a band doesn't sell out stadiums that means nobody cares.

Derp.

Anonymous said...

Horrible way to measure how good a band is.

Anonymous said...

Pulp is B-list, with no hope of ever getting beyond that, no matter how hard you hope and pray their reach extends beyond the island. Deal with it.

If they end up at Coachella, they'll be playing to a couple thousand bored, aging hipsters while everyone with any taste whatsoever makes a beeline for the Sahara.

Anonymous said...

^^Anyone with taste knows that the Sahara had just about the worst lineup it's ever had in 2011 and all the best electronic acts were playing on the outdoor, gobi, or mojave, or in one case the main stage.

Anonymous said...

@1130 I agree Gorillaz sucked by they are definitely not arena bro rock

Anonymous said...

Gallagher shite is the arena bro rock. Gorillaz was just coma-inducing elevator music.

Anonymous said...

@147, if we were talking about 2011 you might have a point.

Anonymous said...

dude is right. the only british rock to come to coachella and not suck has been muse and thom yorke. rest of it blows.

need to have some energy or some edge, and none of the bands mentioned at 713 have either. pulp is a snoozer and who gives a piss about gallaghers and their oversized egos? right wankers.

Anonymous said...

Even the bros think Oasis/Flying Birds/Beady Eye are too gay.

People don't actually admit to listening to any of them, do they?

I mean except deaf teenage girls.

Anonymous said...

If you are considering being in the Sahara during Pulp, please just go to Electric Derp Carnival.
