Looks strikingly similar to other lists on Coachella.com. Might as well just refer to that since that is what Monklish does. Now stop being a pussy and add Queens of the Stone Age to the list. Josh told me himself they will be there.

Nothing too exciting yet, other than Daft Punk (which is highly unlikely lol).

Anonymous said...

add Jason bentley too, he is confirmed

COACHELLAZ GONN WORLDWIDE! The hip hop headliner is Pitbull with J Lo, Shakira, Afrojack, Ne Yo, T-Pain, TJR, Marc Anthony, Nayer, Havana Brown, Ying Yang Twins and more.

Anonymous said...

that fake Bestival lineup is making me horny.

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk is actually happening next year. You will all see when the line-up drops in January.

Even if this list looks exactly like the msg boards, I'd rather come to one place than scour the Coachella boards for hours - the debate is exhausting. Thanks for what you do, Monk. Haters gon' hate.

Nine inch Nails is very exciting. No chance in hell they'll be there, but exciting none-the-less.

Coachella - not quite, but not bad
Bonnnaroo - same; I'd say you should be able to narrow it down, but you obviously aren't
Lollapalooza - well, sure, there are the same possibles there, but if you're going to get it so wrong off the bat...
Outside Lands - keep your day job

Blur could headline anything at the UK, but not in the US... same thing happened last year with Arctic Monkeys who headlined a bunch of festivals in Europe but were a sub act at Coachella.
GET OVER THIS PEOPLE

genieweenie said...

I hate to agree but Blur can co-headline at best. I can see Mumford and Sons listed over them on this side of the pond. Take the Verve and Pulp as examples. Gorillaz are a bad example because they blew up here in the US.

Anonymous said...

The same dipshits that think Blur are HUGE in the states also probably think Girls Aloud are HUGE on this side of the pond.

Fucking right thick cunts without a goddamn clue.

Anonymous said...

AKB48 are HUGE in Japan. Therefore, they can headline Coachella.

Anonymous said...

@100

Keyword: BLOODY

Stick to your side of the pond BLOAK, ARSE, NANCY BOY.

You'd probably FANCY Blur as a headliner (which is absolute RUBBISH).

PISS OFF WANKER or in regular talk, brush your teeth and go fuck yourself.

Anonymous said...

^ fuck off mate

Blur have a legendary status now, much more so than Pulp or the Verve. Their first reunion show in the states will make them headliners, or at least co-headliners.

Anonymous said...

I could see Blur and The Stone Roses co-headlining one night.

Anonymous said...

Mumford and Sons
Deadmau5 Stone Roses

Black Sabbath
Skrillex Queens of the Stone Age

Daft Punk
Blur Fiona Apple

Anonymous said...

^ I'd take the good with the bad and be very happy.

Anonymous said...

^^ Stone roses into Mumford and Sons makes absolutely no sense. Obviously Mau5 would close the stage.

No way is Black Sabbath being invited after no one cared about them being at Lolla. God I hope Skrillex actually flys his stage set to another planet and the beings there slaughter him.

Blur into Daft Punk...Now that makes sense and would be fuckin amazing!

Anonymous said...

The Verve is bigger than Blur in the states and subbed.

Gorillaz is bigger in the US, is (at least was) an incredibly rare get, and everybody hated their performance anyway. Worst headliner I've actually watched since I've been going to Coachella.

Anonymous said...

Also Kasabian headlines shit in England. They played in the Mojave at Coachella. You can't use Euro festivals to make a comparison.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait until The Stone Roses and/or Blur play Coachella, and there are about 12 Brits and 3 Aussies standing by the mainstage and the other 75,000 people are packing all the other stages and tents because they've either never heard of either band, or more likely, they have heard of them and understand that they both suck gigantic horse cock.

Anonymous said...

Question for you dumbshits who think Blur is headliner material: Do you also believe that the British Empire is still ruling the world?

Anonymous said...

10:37 would rather see 3:33 become a reality since music can only be good if it's spoon fed to him by the American mainstream.

Anonymous said...

LOL at the bizarre xenophobia on this board.

Anonymous said...

Music can only be good as long as it doesn't involve some washed up 90s Britpop shitpiles.

Anonymous said...

Amy Winehouse is headlining Saturday to make up for not showing in '09. You heard it here first!

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk is not playing Coachella...They are playing a pool party in Palm Spring Thursday night though.

Anonymous said...

@11:48

I'd be ok with that. I'd get an invite.

Anonymous said...

Every year there is some band people think should be headlining....like Blur or Stone Roses. Not gonna happen. Defintely Sub for sure. Blur would be great in the Mojave at night thought.

Lots of people said Pavement should have been the headliner the year they played and there was like 6 people at their set.

Anonymous said...

Blur will probably sub and have a huge crowd...probably similar to the Verve in 08, who had a bigger crowd than Jack Johnson.

genieweenie said...

Blur will have a huge crowd, just because they will be a sub headliner doesn't mean they will have a small crowd. Hell Atoms for Peace and Phoenix were not on the main stage and they had larger crowds than Pavement on the main stage. Its just how it is. there is no need to panic.

How does some moron say that The Stone Roses are boring? The only think that will get me back to Coachella (04,05,06,09,10,11) is a line-up that includes The Stone Roses, New Order, AND Blur. The usual line-up of knob turners,Rap Clowns, one-shot wonders, and EDM groups is what Coachella has turned into over the years, and that is boring to say the least. That EDM has become the new rock and roll is a joke, Without the drugs that shit is a total fiasco, and please don't lecture me on how many lemmings are going to the gigs. If you held one and had no drugs, NO ONE WOULD GO!!!!

Anonymous said...

Also, radius clause still exists you fuckin idiots. Coachella still depends heavily on LA and California in general to sell out.
Where do you idiots come from?

Anonymous said...

Mumford and sons Europe tour ends April 11th in Norway which is two days before Coachella, so therefore they could ABSOLUTELY appear at Coachella... they could headline that Sat or Sun night... (the 14th or 15th). and then again the following wk too

I still think its insane to think of them as headliners...

subs or co-headliners at BEST

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Monklish is the Nate Silver of Coachella!

Anonymous said...

I'LL BE GODDAMNED o_O

Anonymous said...

@456....most come from LA

Anonymous said...

The only SoCal market Radiohead played was the SB Bowl and that was the night before Coachella. So the radius clause very much still exists. Obviously exceptions exist (JayZ) as well smaller acts and GV promoted acts but its still around. It's much less about selling out and more about keeping the prestige of "gets" in tact which will always matter to coachella. So the idea that because the festival is pretty much an auto sellout wont affect the radius clause too much

Anonymous said...

Potential NIN tour is nothing new.

Monklish is still wrong.

Anonymous said...

I like how Trent saying he may tour NIN again someday is somehow a confirmation that gigs are already booked. So he's recording, releasing, promoting, and touring an album with one band and then getting together another one and having that ready for touring all within the next five months? Cool.

Anonymous said...

^ He is a genius and accomplishes more than you do on a daily basis while he is wiping his ass.

Anonymous said...

He can split into several Trents like Dr. Manhattan.

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk is pushing this along a bit too much. EDM won't be all the rage forever and frankly, those of us who did see DP at Coachella are getting fucking old and close to not caring if DP ever play again or not.

Anonymous said...

I would love to see DP, but I have listened to all of their catalog for years now. If they are playing new songs that no one has ever heard throughout the set, it will not live up to their previous set, where people knew every song.
If Daft Punk is playing, that album better be out January 1st.

Anonymous said...

you can add Klaxons, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Wild Belle

Anonymous said...

@8:20 - Yours is the worst post of all the posts.

Anonymous said...

Because the average person really loved Human After All pre alive, huh @820? They are really good at translating complex work live which is why their two tours are so heralded.

Also were talking about Daft Punk who will have an hour thirty no matter where they are billed. Even if they did front to back new material theres no way they dont touch on at least some of the classics. It's amazing someone can find ways to disparage an act like Daft Punk when shit like Afrojack does two years in a row and your last few god awful electronic closers have been people like Datsik, SHM, Avicii and Kaskade. Thank god for the Modeselektors and Daft Punks of the world.

Anonymous said...

That Beastie Boys tribute rumour is true, minus the Kid Rock part.

Anonymous said...

Agreed...820 one of the worst posts I have ever seen. That's quite a statement too.

Anonymous said...

@ 10:58, 7:03, and 2:09

I don't think you understand what I was trying to say and after re-reading what I typed I understand why.
I was trying to say that I would like time to hear the new material before seeing their new live show. The mixes from the Alive tour are incredible, but part of what makes them so awesome is having heard the songs in their original form so you can hear how they are mashing songs together live.
Do I think seeing the Alive tour without ever hearing Daft Punk would have been great? Yes. But knowing the songs and starting to anticipate Around the World, then having Harder Better Faster Stronger dropped on you, is WAY more awesome if you have heard both of those songs in their original form first.

And then since you think you know everything about me based one paragraph, for the record, the Electronic Music at Coachella was the worst in the last 5 years, in my opinion. I wasn't bashing Daft Punk in any way. I saw one show in the Sahara last year, and I regretted it. I skipped Justice to see Calvin Harris. Last year was a competition to see who could mix SHM and Avicii songs into their sets, it was a disaster. And yes, I have been listening to Daft Punk for over a decade and loving it, ever since you were cuddling a cabbage patch.

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk is not playing in 2013 guys. Get over it.

Anonymous said...

Time for a new list. There's confirmations coming in. Get on with it.

Anonymous said...

Nobody really knows if Daft Punk will be there or not, they could easily announce their new album in January and have it out in March or April which will confirm them... we'll have to wait and see :(

Anonymous said...

The point is complaining about Daft Punk being there at all is dumb. We've been waiting years for a daft punk at Coachella show but if they do play it's going to be "oh but we don't know their new material so this will suck". It just goes along with this idea that people who go to Coachella will complain about the lineup no matter what.

I just wish people could chill and enjoy the lineup, since Coachella has always had the best US festival lineup period. As always, this year will be awesome. Quit worrying so much.

Anonymous said...

You obviously have shit taste if you skipped Justice for Calvin Harris. Were you trying to find love in a hopeless place?

Anonymous said...

I was hoping he would possibly have a live band like he did the last time he was at Coachella, and if not that at least play his own songs hopefully off of I created Disco. Also, Fucking Justíce!! Was about half hour late.

Anonymous said...

I agree, Coachella's lineup is always the most diverse and interesting.

Anonymous said...

If Kid Rock is anywheres near that lineup when it cums out, I'm selling my ticket. He is a neo nazi fuckwad of the 1st order, and I wish him nothing but ill will and pain and suffering for the rest of his natural born life (which by god's good grace won't be much longer).

Has anyone brought up that its awfully coincidental that the Stones have two shows in London and two in NY planned and that is it...??

I mean it doesn't gaurantee shit, but its interesting. One would think if they are announcing these final shows that they would have two in LA announced with those four.....no?

I hear that a full blown tour is not gonna happen whatsoever due to Keith's health.

I think that definitely keeps them alive for Coachella..... it would fall in line with the two shows in a city trend they have had thus far...

LockNes said...

I'd say it is very probable that the Rolling Stones would play 2 shows in LA and why not Coachella? Sir Paul had a larger and older crowd his year and help sell a lot of tickets. (It was also nice that the polo grounds weren't as packed throughout the day hours and on the other nights as some people came solely for him.)

And I would say your evidence of them possibly doing West Coast shows and adding more shows would be right here:
http://consequenceofsound.net/2012/11/the-rolling-stones-add-show-in-brooklyn/

Looks like if there is interest any $$ they will do a show.

who will be in the polo fields in 2013?

In 2011 KROQ had the Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, Noel Gallagher.

So I had to wait hours for at the DMV (yeah I'm stupid, I know. I should've make an appointment) and I spent some time looking at Monk's 2012 predictions and people comments (I already said that I'm stupid).

Guess what? Monk is usually right and people are usually wrong.

I lost count of how many "Ooh Monk you're so dumb, Godspeed You Black Emperor WON'T BE PLAYING at coachella" or "OMG she's saying that The Black Keys are headlining LOLOLOLLOLLOLLOLOLO" I've read today.

I will give a lot more credit do her than to those people saying "sorry, not happening" and therefore I'm starting to get very excited about the Daft Punk prediction!!

And I don't fucking care if they don't release a new album before April. As I matter of fact, they can play the exact same set of 2006 (which I've listened the bootleg today for the 85010975197 time) that it's going to be fucking amazing!!

Monk, keep up the good work!! I'm waiting for the next updates!!

Anonymous said...

Hey Monk you're a stupid bitch.

Anonymous said...

It should be said, Monk had Daft Punk as part of her 2010 prediction pool too. She took them off the list a couple of days before the real lineup dropped and replaced them with DFA 1979.

Anonymous said...

I understand there's zero to no chance of this in '13, but I'd kill to see Outkast on the polo fields! Hoping Big Boi has a decent shot at least with a new album due soon.
