So who are your headliners Monk?

Anonymous said...

You left out Haim.

Anonymous said...

There are a lot left out considering, you know, there are only 40 acts listed here you dumb motherfucker.

Anonymous said...

Headliners are Outkast and Arcade Fire. The third is a tossup between NIN and Muse.

Anonymous said...

60% of these names are total shit, 20% are okay, 20% are worth a damn.

LockNes said...

If they let NiN slip through their fingers they are god damn idiots. If they want to sign Muse fine, but do a double headliner night like The Strokes and Kanye.

It doesn't seem that there is a big enough Electro act to close the mainstage this year, and both an Outkast reunion and Arcade Fire performance that could feature James Murphy or Bowie would never have a dj follow them. Any thoughts on a main stage electro act at the end of the night? Any chance we could see the Chemical Brothers back???

Hey 6:27 dumb motherfucker. If you use some of your ten brain cells to think instead of using it to direct your finger to your rectum you would realize that the closer we got the the lineup release Monk will update the list with more names. There were 26 names in the last post and 40 on this one. Dumbfuck...

Anonymous said...

Buzzfeed blasted Coachella for underbooking female artists so now Chella is getting every label-constructed pop star disguised as a hipster.

Anonymous said...

Tori Amos, yeah right.

Anonymous said...

Tori Amos would have been amazing to see in 1999.

Anonymous said...

Lets not exaggerate 727, Sky Ferreira and Beyonce's sister arent on the list yet.

Anonymous said...

Bjork!

Anonymous said...

Bjork!Bjork!

Anonymous said...

Skrillex is closing after Muse.

Anonymous said...

Monk, you left off HAIM, Warpaint, QotSA, Little Dragon, Cage the Elephant, Sleigh Bells, AFI, Blood Orange, MS MR

Anonymous said...

When the fuck is Weird Al gonna play?

Anonymous said...

It is still the worst line-up they have ever put together. It just seems there is nothing out of the ordinary anymore for Coachella. Muse? Outcast? Pixies? Who the fuck cares! How about something to shake it up, that will be a complete surprise, not that they have too any longer, since the Coachella name has now become a brand. Here are some that would get me to go for the 8th time:
The Smiths
The Cocteau Twins
Loop
Bowie
Led Zepplin
But good luck with the mess I see on these posts.

Anonymous said...

Cocteau Twins will never happen, but what about a Liz Fraser solo set? She did that in London and sang a lot of Cocteau Twins songs.

Anonymous said...

the only one of those that might happen ever is Loop.

Anonymous said...

Poolside would be really cool. Monk, any idea on bigger electronic acts? i.e. the bros, Underworld, Royksopp, Soulwax?

Anonymous said...

tiesto

Anonymous said...

Ok and when they start to release the good bands?

Anonymous said...

The Growlers, Alpine ,Jagwar , Delorean

Anonymous said...

Pearl Jam, London Grammar, Mood Rings, Soft Metals , Gems

Anonymous said...

hey 4:28, are you trolling or just that retarded? OutKAST hasnt done a live show since like 2001 and are still amazing act to see. Pixies are classic, and i agree about Muse. But you are asking for the rarest of rare appearances. How do you not think Outkast is good headliner? you too old? or too young?

Anonymous said...

When is Boris ever going to play?

Anonymous said...

Hey 7:47AM, 2ManyDJs is going to play next year

Anonymous said...

2manydjs would be great, but still holding out hope we get Soulwax also or Underworld. I've been waiting patiently to see Underworld since Hard Summer got broken up in '09, and seeing them finally at Coachella would be insane.

Anonymous said...

12:57, they don't book Japanese bands. Because Pearl Harbor.

Anonymous said...

Coacherra?

Anonymous said...

Scott Stapp is confirmed.

Damn.

If you are correct Monk... im stoked.

Fuck Buttons
Sam Smith

just to name a few of the possibly overlooked ones

would be a great undercard.

"Headliners are Outkast and Arcade Fire. The third is a tossup between NIN and Muse."

You're missing someone, my friend.

Anonymous said...

"you left off HAIM"

No it didn't.

Anonymous said...

Too bad The Knife don't actually do anything live except jump around with their friends.

Anonymous said...

Duke Dumont's in... Yuma or Sahara?

Anonymous said...

Cut Copy is unfortunately out. This sucks.

Anonymous said...

I like as we all get older this exercise just get more disappointing. Remember when there was real surprise? The Internet has killed a lot of the fun. You youngsters don't know what it's like to be clueless - it's fun and shocking and surprising. Ahh fuck, I'm going back to bed.

Anonymous said...

I agree. last year's only surprises were billing order and a shitty booking in RHCP. Most people [that pay attention] knew blur and the stone roses were playing. Now we have all three headliners figured out and it's not even christmas. the Outkast surprise was flubbed.

Anonymous said...

Nobody predicted Jurassic 5, Grinderman, Sparks, or Violent Femmes.

Anonymous said...

cool. 2.3% of the lineup went unpredicted;

Anonymous said...

please tell me this is a joke site. lol Monklish- most inaccurate Coachella speculation since 2008

Coachella will be fun. this year. ;)

Anonymous said...

A Perfect Circle/Replacements AF and OutKast.

I seriously doubt there is another headliner.

Anonymous said...

Acts that have played The Fonda recently:
Deltron 3030
Kate Nash
Emmy the Great
The Bangles
King Krule

Anonymous said...

Muse are the third headliner.

Anonymous said...

A perfect circle wasn't even a headline act at Lollapalooza Chile, they are a 2nd liner at best. I would say the same for the replacements.

Anonymous said...

Muse/Deadmau5, Arcade Fire, Outkast

Anonymous said...

Deadmau5 pissed off Paul Tollett

Anonymous said...

Who on Earth do u guys think is the third headliner? one of u just said "we have all the headliners figured out
we have TWO - Arcade and Outkast
Beck is NOT a headliner and neither are The Pixies

if it is Muse, that is weak cause then it will be repeate headliners from 10 (Muse) and 11 (Arcade)...

Anonymous said...

enough about all these new acts
lets talk about the classic spot that is either on the outdoor stage or sometimes on Saturday's mainstage... like in year's past they have done Willie Nelson, Leonard Cohen and Sly & The Family Stone... who else is there that could fill this that has yet to do it?

I have always thought it would be incredible to see George Clinton do a tent show with Parliament members... or Chuck Berry could be REAL cool, I would actually love that... what about Tom Waits?? Elvis Costello? Michael Stipe doing some solo shit? Tony Bennett!

come on, lets talk some classic acts...

Anonymous said...

Barry Williams to host a special Brady Brunch

Anonymous said...

@11:21 it's muse. get over it.

Anonymous said...

Cut Copy just announced a a show in San Diego a week before Coachella...whoever said they won't be there should think again.

Anonymous said...

they have an LA date the day or two before SD you fucking dunce.

Anonymous said...

@11:57 even more reason then why they'll be there...you must have mental problems to get so worked up on a coachella rumor board, cool life loser

Anonymous said...

@11:52 You do realise that Cut Copy are playing in Scotland on the Saturday of Coachella Weekend 1 right?

Anonymous said...

Cut Copy will not be there you tard. Look at their tour dates, their full tour dates not just their US dates. Also, you can cross St. Vincent off the list as well.

Anonymous said...

St. Vincent is confirmed for Sunday.

Anonymous said...

In april Darkside will be playing around Australia and Asia.

Rule them out of the list Monk!

https://www.facebook.com/DarksideUSA/app_178091127385

Anonymous said...

Darkside end that tour on 4/8 so no reason they can't be at Coach a few days later. They're also playing a Fonda show in January which I thought was always a good hint a band will be on the polo fields?

Anonymous said...

Add Smallpools to the list. Now we have 41 names

Anonymous said...

Capital Cities??? There's a gap in their tour dates

Anonymous said...

Add Cibo Matto

Anonymous said...

Atoms For Peace will be headlining.

LockNes said...

^Now that would be a great 3rd headliner

Anonymous said...

Your headliners:

FRI: Queens of the Stoneage•Beck
SAT: OutKast
SUN: Arcade Fire

Anonymous said...

Third headliner is Muse.

Anonymous said...

Muse is playing another festival. Third headliner is Kings of Leon.

Anonymous said...

Which other festival?

It's Muse.

Anonymous said...

Prince is playing Glastonbury.

Anonymous said...

Nine Inch Nails are doing the S.S. Coachella later in the year.

Anonymous said...

spicy pie! this blog is cool

Anonymous said...

Tokyo Police Club and Cibo Matto seem likely to play now

Anonymous said...

10:01AM: Outside Lands. San Francisco, California

LockNes said...

Nin and QOTSA are going to play the same night. Look at their tour dates. All of April is open after the first week. Coachella only brings back great headliners. Muse doesn't fit that bill. RHCP got the nod last year because they are almost a classic act at this point.

LockNes said...

By this I mean their catalog is classic not necessarily their new work.

Anonymous said...

Spoke to Kip Malone of TV on the Radio and he said they are playing.

Anonymous said...

Nine Inch Nails are playing a cruise on Halloween. Start saving now.

Anonymous said...

@7:38 I really hope you're not kidding. I would love to see TVOTR on the Polo Fields.

Anonymous said...

Wow the thought of seeing TVOTR makes me very pleased! Totally spaced out on Atoms for Peace too, they'd be such a perfect Outdoor closer.

LockNes said...

Already have been a perfect outdoor closer. They are main stage material at this point.

Anonymous said...

TV on the Radio is a good band that is mediocre live.

Anonymous said...

Primal Scream are playing.

Anonymous said...

why not beck with a headlining set?

Anonymous said...

Because Muse are the third headliner.

Anonymous said...

So Beyone is headlining

Anonymous said...

Yup. Beyone.

Anonymous said...

Muse

where's the lineup??

Anonymous said...

They better have a killer DJ lined up after Muse

Anonymous said...

TOOL instead of APC

Anonymous said...

Blood Orange
Cage the Elephant
HAIM
Warpaint

Anonymous said...

Gary Numan

Anonymous said...

Ill give you warpaint but take it easy on gary numan. You cant just throw shitty indie music around as a confirmation either.

Anonymous said...

I think this one is more accurate now: www.travelgrom.com/travel-blog/coachella-2014-lineup

Anonymous said...

Coachella is sexist. out of 34 headlining days, only ONE woman has headlined.

Anonymous said...

Damon Albarn is kind of a women.

Anonymous said...

^^There are only a few women groups worthy of headlining a festival of that size. Madonnna could have 20 years ago. Beyonce could, but she is not the demographic of festival goers. So that leaves???? Oh that's right, no one.

McQ said...

If Phoenix can headline, I see no reason Florence and the Machine couldn't with her next release...she would bring a large enough crowd.

Beyonce said...

I could headline the SHIT out of Coachella.

Lady Gaga said...

Me too.

Tina Turner said...

I can still get down!

Karen O said...

I was the REAL Friday headliner last year...

M.I.A. said...

I'm headliner material.

Beth Gibbons said...

I almost headlined :(

Rihanna said...

I beg to headline every year!

Karin Dreijer Andersson said...

I could have headlined someday...but then I got so far up into my own asshole that now I'll just be "performing" in the Mojave DURING the headliner :/

Anonymous said...

@722 Which female acts specifically do you think are big enough to headline and also fit the festival crowd demographic? Also it would help if they aren't horrible like No Doubt.

In fact, which festivals specifically are headlining all this female talent? To call Coachella sexist would imply that there are plenty of these acts out there and they purposely choose not to headline them.

Also Arcade Fire should kinda count.

Anonymous said...

Because No Doubt is so much worse than JACK JOHNSON, KINGS OF LEON, OR THE KILLERS.

..and Beyonce fits the current demographic perfectly. you people are nuts claiming otherwise.

Anonymous said...

Plenty of non-headlining female acts never get invited or outright turned away in favor of bottom of the barrel boys clubs.

Anonymous said...

Wrong. No one I go with which is a a group of over 30 people have any interest in seeing ms Carter. Men out attend females at festivals by far. So of course they are going to create lineups that men are going to like.

Anonymous said...

Beyonce would have one of the biggest mainstage crowds in Coachella history. FACT.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone else find it interesting that Daft Punk performing at the Grammys is announced on the same day that Moogfest has announced Giorgio Moroder and CHIC w/Nile Rogers...which takes place one little week after Coachella!

Daft Punk will be announced for Coachella the week of the Grammys which will not coincidentally feature a Coachella television commercial either just before or just after the performance (maybe both, not sure yet). Thus, the Daft Punk commercial at Coachella 2013 will come full circle.

This is actually happening.

When this board is discussing Beyonce as a headliner at Coachella in a serious manner, then you know the festival has died. I went from 2005-2013 8x, but it just gets worse and worse. Outcast? Beyonce? Muse
(again)? Kins of Leon (Again)? Arcade Assholes (Again) What the fuck has happened to Coachella?

Anonymous said...

Top notch acts are few and far between these days.

Anonymous said...

Julian Casablancas, Giorgio Moroder and CHIC w/Nile Rogers all touring within that time period. Sounds like RAM live, a one off show.

McQ said...

@7:32 AM - Headliners have always been a mixed bag at Coachella...are you really arguing that Outkast, probably one of the 10 greatest rap acts of all time, is lesser than Coldplay, Jack Johnson (who headlined my favorite year of the festivals entire run), The Killers, or Oasis (A top five candidate for most overrated rock act of all time). And I'm not sold that either AF or Muse, if on the line-up, are #1 on the bill for their day.

Sexist??? Who in the hell COULD headline that is a girl these days? LAdy Gaga is WAYYYYY too Lollapalooza and no one would like that choice. Bring back the fucking Killers before u do that. Or the Kings Of Leon haaaaa.... Beyonce? The field would be empty (everyone would be at Sahara and Mojave). Madonna already did the fest and they didn't even mainstage headline her. Other than Bjork, who do u really think could headline Coachella that is a girl???? MAYBE Adele... but that is about it....

Anonymous said...

Damn Monk any update coming soon? With the early Outkast leak, it feels like we'll have the actual lineup in the next few weeks...

Daft Punk

Anonymous said...

Monklish had over 80 names at this time last year. She is slacking big time in 2013.

Anonymous said...

Draft Punk are assholes. They don't care about fans wanting to see them and have no plans to tour this year. Third headliner is Tool.

Anonymous said...

Fishbone confirmed

Anonymous said...

Zedd and Deadmau5 are playing.

Anonymous said...

Daft Punk are not, I repeat not playing.

the headliners involved have pretty much been speculated upon everywhere including this blog.

Upon hearing about the head/subheadliners GV definately took all the flack they received about the Stone Roses/Blur debacle and upgraded in a sense.

the headliners and subheadliners are as follow:

Friday, April 11th/18th
MUSE•NINE INCH NAILS < Beck< Foster the People

Saturday, April 12th/19th
ARCADE FIRE < Florence + the Machine< Pixies

Sunday, April 13th/20th
OUTKAST< Queens of the Stoneage< M.I.A.

I was not granted knowledge to the remainder of the lineup, but I imagine that most of the speculated names are a given or highly likely. My source did however mention that there would be 2 reunions not already touring that would take part at the fest but wouldn't make that big of a splash as prior reunions taken place at Coachella. He did mention though, that GV did lock in an electrinic act that has been requested for for years and would finally be gracing the Polo Fields next year. Once again, Daft Punk will not be there.

^ Basement Jaxx probably

^^^I swear on my life I dont know how this shit gets out. Kudos. Not sure where the leak is these days. Was really hoping that people would be pleasantly surprised by what they finally pulled off. Bowie. But his name will not be on the poster and neither will Arcade's for that matter. I saw numerous posts hinting at this, but it's true. It will no say David Bowie and the Reflektors either. It will simply say The Reflektors. That is it. It will be similar to Dre and Snoop doing their show with tons of guests. It will be the closest a headliner at Chell has ever ran their set like a Bonnaroo set. People showing up and jumping in on Arcade songs and people doing their own songs. And with Bowie, James Murphy, Tyler Pope and others onstage there will be plenty of catalogues to choose from. Also people from the fest will be jumping in... Westerberg, Mike Campbell from the Heartbreakers... to name a few...

its gonna make headlines and Coachella will never top it. Mark my words.
